“Wait,

I heard

Texas residents get in-state tuition at OU. Is that true?”

Unfortunately, no. We love our Texas students, but as a state, tax-supported institution, we must give preference in tuition pricing to residents of the state of Oklahoma. To help offset the higher cost of attendance, our automatically awarded academic scholarship awards for non-resident students have a higher dollar value. If you believe your circumstances may qualify you for in-state tuition, you can review the policy and apply for in-state classification at go2.ou.edu/residency

Here are a couple of tips on how to get the best financial assistance possible:

1. Look into OU scholarships. We offer a variety of scholarships to help offset the investment in an OU education, including academic awards ranging from $20,000 to $68,000 or more. For the fall 2025 incoming class, over 90% of freshmen received a scholarship from the Office of Admissions and Recruitment. To see non-resident scholarship opportunities, visit go2.ou.edu/ scholarships-nonresfreshman. Scholarships are also available for incoming transfer students. Learn more at go2.ou.edu/scholarships-nonrestransfer.

2. Apply for outside scholarships. Apply for scholarships from a variety of organizations. Look into opportunities through local banks, chambers of commerce, Rotary clubs, Lion’s clubs, community foundations, sports teams, churches, etc.

3. Submit the FAFSA. Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.gov. Completing the FAFSA allows you to receive consideration for state and federal financial aid, including loans, grants and work study opportunities.

*This estimate includes 30 credit hours, per hour fees, departmental program and tech fees. A number of public institutions report annual cost based on minimum full-time enrollment (24 credit hours). Mandatory fees include: semester fees, academic facility and life safety, special event, activity, assessment, network connectivity, student facility, library, security services, transit, health, cultural, records and academic advising fees. Students can check ou.edu/go2/npc to access our net price calculator. All costs are based on 2025-26 estimates and are subject to change. **These costs reflect the estimated average for incoming first-year students living on campus.
