SYMPHONY If I should still hear you, It would be upon the powerlines In which you Would string your stave. On the orange glow Of the street-lamps, You would play your Semibreves. And on my slowing Heartbeat, Your staccatos would Sound. If I should still hear you, The hills would be your crescendos, And the valleys Diminuendos. The traffic-lights conduct The ritardando, And with a flash, Accelerando. And you would Play your flats Upon my drooping Eyelids. If I should still hear you, It would be upon the hum Of the engine, that you would Drum softly. The haze of clouds above Would be your soft piano, Concealing the Moon’s forte. The winding road Would be your symphony. Still ringing In my ears. Written by Ella Quarmby - Year 11 student. 6
