Please join us for a new Otterbein Summer Theatre program, One by One,
Halle Audette (‘26) and Simone Gelety (‘26), recipients of the Pamela Hill Lorr Theatre Award, which recognizes and encourages outstanding student directors, will direct their peers on the Cowan Hall Fritsche Theatre stage in two distinctly different, but very entertaining pieces, a play and a musical, all in one evening!
Jeff and Hunter, two struggling writers, hear about a new musical theatre festival. However, the deadline for submissions is a mere three weeks away! With nothing to lose, the pair decides to try to create something new with the help of their friends Susan, Heidi and Larry. They make a pact to write up until the festival’s deadline and dream about the show changing their lives, but what to call it? ... [title of show] -- taken from the space on the festival’s application form which asks for the “[title of show]” -- follows Hunter and Jeff and their friends on their journey through the gauntlet of creative self-expression in this love letter to musical theatre.
A comedic satire on the popular and often misguided application of psychoanalysis, the play centers on Henrietta, a woman obsessed with the phenomenon, who creates a ridiculous interpretation of her husband’s dream, almost causing a divorce! First published in 1924, it’s a lighthearted look at how people can get carried away with the ideas of the day
