TJ Gerckens (Theatre & Dance Dept. Chair, Lighting Designer) is the lighting design faculty member at Otterbein University, a USA829 Union Lighting Designer, and proud Otterbein alumnus. At Otterbein, he has designed the lighting for 9 to 5, Bright Star, Dance 2022: Find me in the Shadows (with Lucas Fragiotta and Sage Wuertzer), A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, Into a Lamplit Room, Dance 2020: The Wild Within (with John Diver), Chicago, Oklahoma!, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Diary of Anne Frank, Adding Machine: A Musical, Damn Yankees, Dance 2016: The Goddess, The Crucible, Fiddler on the Roof, Dance 2015: Famously Yours...Forever, Dance 2014: Tell-Tale Poe, and Into the Woods. As a freelance lighting designer, T.J. has been part of the design team for the Tony Award winner and MacArthur Foundation “Genius” Mary Zimmerman for the last 30+ years. Most recently, he designed lighting for the world premiere of the Matchbox Magic Flute at the Goodman and subsequent productions in Washington DC and California, Swan Lake for the Australian Ballet performing in 4 cities and at the Sydney Opera House, Florencia en el Amazonas and the new opera Eurydice, by Sarah Ruhl and Matthew Aucoin at the Metropolitan Opera, The Notebooks of Leonardo DaVinci in Chicago, Washington DC, and San Diego, The Music Man at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, the world premiere of The Steadfast Tin Soldier at Chicago’s Lookingglass Theatre, the recent revival of Metamorphoses at the Guthrie Theatre and Berkeley Rep, and Rusalka at the Metropolitan Opera in NYC. Other notable designs include The Odyssey at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Guys & Dolls in L.A., and Treasure Island at the Lookingglass Theatre and Berkeley Rep. His lighting designs have been seen at regional theatres across the United States, on and off Broadway, and at the Metropolitan Opera. Internationally, he has designed in England, Australia, and at the LaScala Opera House in Milan, Italy. He has received numerous awards for his designs including New York’s Drama Desk Award and Lortel Awards for his lighting of Metamorphoses on and off Broadway, Jefferson Awards for The Odyssey and Metamorphoses in Chicago, and an award for “Exemplifying the Art of Collaboration” given to the Zimmerman design team by Entertainment Design Magazine. T.J. holds a BFA from Otterbein University and an MFA from Boston University. He is married to set designer and scenic artist Stephanie R. Gerckens.

Melissa Lusher (Director) is a tenured Professor of acting, speech, and dialects in the Department of Theatre and Dance, where she also serves as the Director of the BFA Acting Program. Melissa holds an MFA in Acting from the combined program of Carnegie Mellon University and the Moscow Art Theatre, and a BFA in Acting from Carnegie Mellon. She is also a certified teacher of the Michael Chekhov acting technique through the Great Lakes Michael Chekhov Consortium. She was deeply honored to receive Otterbein’s 2018 Teacher of the Year award. Otterbein directing credits include Everybody, A Lie of the Mind, Chicago (named one of the Best 10 Productions of 2019 by the Columbus Dispatch), “Master Harold”... and the Boys, Rumors, The Crucible, RENT, The Greeks: The Murders, No Exit, and Spring Awakening (named one of the Best 10 Productions of 2012 by the Columbus Dispatch). Favorite roles include Martha in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

(Otterbein), Barbara in August: Osage County (Otterbein), Goneril in King Lear (Actors’ Theatre), Clytemnestra in The Greeks (Moscow Art Theatre), Marina in Volodya (LaMaMa E.T.C.), and the title role in Miss Julie (CMU). Melissa sends her sincere gratitude to the entire company of Great Comet for bringing this brilliant story to life with such skill and creativity.

Lori Kay Harvey (Music Director) is an Associate Professor of music at Otterbein University. She has music directed over 40 shows in central Ohio and throughout the US and has performed extensively as an actor/singer/dancer on both national and international tours and in numerous regional theatres. Recent Otterbein credits include 9 to 5, Bright Star, A Little Night Music, and Something Rotten. Tour credits: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Grease. Regional: Next to Normal, Beauty and the Beast, Jekyll and Hyde, The Taffetas, Camelot, The Who’s Tommy, Damn Yankees, Brigadoon, Carousel, The Desert Song and The Good War. Concert credits: Soprano soloist with Westerville Symphony, Springfield Symphony and Newark-Granville Symphony, Columbus Dance Theatre, Mozart “Requiem” with The National Chorale (Avery Fisher Hall), Puttin’ On the Ritz with Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra (Carnegie Hall and recorded on TELARC label), and The Magical Music of Disney (Cincinnati Music Hall and Circle Theatre, IN, recorded on TELARC label and GRAMMY- nominated). Television credits: Sex in the City, Guiding Light, Mel Torme’s Christmas Special, and various commercials and industrials. Education: BS in Voice Performance and Theatre from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Member of Actor’s Equity Association. Stella Hiatt Kane (Choreographer) is a professor in the Otterbein Department of Theatre and Dance and is the Associate Artistic Director and Director of Dance. She is also the founding Artistic Director of JazzMet. Ms. Kane has been a member of the national companies of Sugar and Bob Fosses’ Dancin’ and a member of the national and international companies of The American Dance Machine. She has made television appearances in productions such as PBS’ Dance in America and The Ann Reinking Special with Ann Reinking, Chita Rivera and Ben Vereen. Ms. Kane has taught for New York’s American Dance Machine/Harkness House and the Actors’ and Directors’ Lab. She has been a visiting guest artist/teacher at several universities including The Ohio State University and New York University and has been a master teacher in residence at the Northern Ballet Theatre in Leeds, England. She has also been a guest choreographer for BalletMet and Columbus Dance Theatre, including the world premiere of Women Leading. Her most current Otterbein collaborations have included Cabaret, Something Rotten and the direction of I Do, I Do. A special thanks to Jane for her incredible assistance in this process and to dance captains Elise and Roberto for their stellar work. Finally, it is a gift to work with Melissa and Lori Kay and I am grateful for both of you. Thanks for going to the playground with me!

Max Cotman (Costume Designer) is a freelance Costume Designer and Technician currently working in the Columbus and Cincinnati Ohio areas. Max is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Cincinnati for the College-Conservatory of Music, teaching Costume Design and Costume History. They received their BA from Otterbein University and, recently, their MFA in Costume Design and Technology from the University of Cincinnati, CollegeConservatory of Music. They have previously worked as a Firsthand in the Costume Shop at The Glimmerglass Festival in 2022, 2023 & 2024. Additionally, they have worked as a Draper and Craft Artisan at The Cincinnati Shakespeare Company off and on since 2019.

Kitty Mader (Sound Designer/Lighting and Sound Supervisor) is a sound designer and engineer from Avon, Ohio. She received her BFA in Design and Technology for theatre from Otterbein in 2022, and is currently the department’s Lighting and Sound Supervisor. Kitty has worked in renowned theatres such as TexARTS in Lakeway, Texas (Sound Designer), Otterbein Summer Theatre (Sound Designer/Lighting and Sound Supervisor), Weston Theater in Weston, Vermont (Assistant Audio Supervisor), The Great Lakes Theater in Cleveland, Ohio (A2), and the Bard Summerscape Music and Opera Festival in upstate New York (Audio Assistant). She has sound designed many Otterbein productions, including Dance 2023: Escape to Wonderland, Everybody (2023), Cabaret (2023), Bright Star (2023), Dance 2022: Find Me in the Shadows, and Black Comedy (2022). Other productions Kitty has worked on include 9 to 5 (TexARTS, 2023), Marry Me a Little, Hair (Weston, 2022), The 39 Steps (Great Lakes, 2022), and Le Roi Arthus (Bard, 2021). Kitty is delighted to be sound designing Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, and she hopes you enjoy the show!

Melinda Murphy (Voice and Movement Coach) teaches Alexander Technique and Feldenkrais Method® in the Otterbein Theatre and Dance Department, with application to movement, voice, characterization, singing, and dance. Melinda is one of the few teachers trained in both methods; she combines them in her private practice in Columbus, and in classes and seminars for performing artists at other Ohio colleges. Since coming to Otterbein, she also trained to teach Fitzmaurice Voice work for its specialized tools for improving the voice and breath. Melinda has coached Otterbein productions since the turn of the century. She has also coached equestrians, figure skaters, musicians, and competitive barbershop quartets and choruses, including the two-time international gold medalist Southern Gateway Chorus.

Sarah Short (Production Stage Manager) is excited to be back at Otterbein! This is her third show with Otterbein as an alumna. Previously, she stage managed Dance 2022: Find Me in the Shadows and Everybody. She graduated from Otterbein with a BA in Theatre and BS in Business Administration and Management in 2020. She currently works full time for ServeOhio, Ohio’s commission on service and volunteerism. Sarah would like to thank Elizabeth and Hannah for their support, as well as her fiancé, Jack.

Dev Singer (Stage Manager) is a proud alumna of the Otterbein Theatre program. She graduated with a BA in Theatre – Stage Management in 2000. From 2000-2014, Dev worked as professional stage manager, tour manager, and technician for theatre and dance companies internationally and across the country (CATCO, Creede Repertory Theatre, and Trey McIntyre Project), as well as on Carnival cruise ships. While now mostly retired from professional stage management, Dev enjoys stage managing once a year for LED Boise, a multimedia arts company in Boise, Idaho. Dev currently works as Business Operations Manager in the Department of Theatre, Film, and Media Arts at The Ohio State University. Dev is honored to return to her alma mater to serve as SM cover for Natasha, Pierre, & the Great Comet of 1812. She dedicates her performance to her late father, Jerry Singer (1940-2024), who always supported her endeavors.

Hannah Hahn ‘18 (Production Manager) joined the Theatre & Dance faculty/staff in the fall of 2022 as the Production Manager and Stage Management Mentor. She teaches and mentors student stage managers along with a myriad of production-related duties. Hannah’s most recent local stage management credits include The Importance of Being Earnest (Otterbein), Skeleton Crew (The Contemporary Theatre of Ohio), Rigoletto (Opera

Columbus), and I Do! I Do! (Otterbein Summer Theatre). Additionally, Hannah stage manages the CAPA Marquee Awards Showcase each year – a Columbus-based theatre education program that feeds into the national Jimmy Awards for high school students. She has worked with the program in many capacities since its inaugural year in 2019. She enjoys teaching and sharing her experiences as a stage manager through workshops and Thespy adjudication at various state Thespian Festivals and International Thespian Festival each year. You might even catch her as a CAPA House Manager at the Riffe Center Theatre Complex or the historic Southern Theatre. Patrick Stone (Technical Director) began his tenure as the Technical Director at Otterbein in the fall of 2014. He holds an MFA from the University of South Dakota and a Bachelors of Arts from Doane College in Crete, Nebraska. He is an ETCP certified Theatrical Rigger. He teaches classes in stagecraft, properties, metal working, technical direction, wood working, and motion scenery. Patrick also enjoys consulting with theatres ranging from professional through junior high school. Patrick believes it is time for our entire society to come together as one, which would work better if you would all just agree with him.

Jeanine Thompson (Theatrical Intimacy Director) is honored to be returning to Otterbein as the Theatrical Intimacy Director for Natasha, Pierre, & the Great Comet of 1812, and to be working with the wonderful production team and cast. Her previous production work at Otterbein includes The Importance of Being Earnest, 9 to 5, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Cabaret, I Do! I Do!, Baby, Our Town and A Little Night Music. Jeanine is an Emeritus Professor of OSU’s Department of Theatre, Film and Media Arts, who specializes in performance, directing, movement, theatrical intimacy, and creation of new works. Her artistry has been greatly influenced by her work with Anne Bogart and the SITI Company, Dance Theatre choreographer, John Giffin, and the French mime artist, Marcel Marceau.

Nick Abouzeid (Anatole) is a junior BFA Musial Theatre major from Warwick, RI. Nick is thrilled to be a part of this amazing musical! You may have most recently seen him in the Otterbein productions of 9 to 5 (Joe), This is Our Youth (Warren) and Bright Star (Billy Cane). When he isn’t performing you can find Nick playing football and taking long after school naps! Nick would like to thank all those involved in making this show so amazing! A huge thank you to his family and friends who always come out to show him support and love! Enjoy the show!

Charlie Adams (Roving Violin) is a composer, violist, guitarist, and filmmaker. He is a senior Music Theory & Composition major with a minor in Film Studies. He has taken part in workshops with composers Libby Larsen, Gregory Mertl, Evan Hodges, and Eric Hachikian, and has performed viola with the Westerville Symphony, the Central Ohio Symphony, the Ohio Wesleyan University Chamber Orchestra, and the OtterCap Orchestra.

Halle Audette (Mary/Roving Guitar/Intimacy Captain) is a junior BFA Musical Theatre major with minors in Dance, and Exercise Science & Health Promotion from Minneapolis, MN. Halle is so grateful for the opportunity to be back on the Cowan stage! Her Otterbein credits include 9 to 5 (Ensemble), Dance 2023: Escape to Wonderland (Queen of Hearts), Cabaret (Lulu), Bright Star (Spirit), and Dance 2022: Find Me in The Shadows (The Mistress). Evan Blust (Opera Singer & Servant US/Male Swing) is a junior BFA Musical Theatre major with a minor in Dance from Trenton, OH. This is his sixth mainstage production at Otterbein and he couldn’t be more excited to spend it with such a wonderful cast and crew! The past two summers, he has spent his time in Cincinnati performing in The Rocky Horror Show at The Carnegie and Footloose at the Incline Theater. Caroline Bowers (Ensemble/Sonya US) is a senior BFA Musical Theatre major from MD and TX. Her favorite credits include: Doralee Rhodes (9 to 5), Ensemble/Margot US (Legally Blonde), Fraülein Kost (Cabaret), and Lucy Grant (Bright Star). Allison Bricker (Paints Assistant) is a sophomore Educational Studies major with a Theatre minor from Blacklick, OH. Allison is happy to have the opportunity to continue working with the theatre department despite her change in major. She originally was a Theatre BA Major, but made the decision to switch to Ed Studies in order to better pursue her goal of becoming a theatre educator some day. Allison would like to thank the existence of coffee for getting her this far into college.

Catherine Brown (Assistant Stage Manager) is a freshman BFA Design/Technology major from San Antonio, TX. Catherine is super excited to be making her mainstage debut on the stage management team. Her previous work at Otterbein includes the Importance of Being Earnest as the light board operator. Her other previous work, outside of Otterbein, includes West Side Story (Stage Manager), The Addams Family (Stage Manager), and Once Upon A Mattress (Prop Lead). Sam Bryant (Andrey/Bolkonsky/Ensemble) is a junior BFA Musical Theatre major from Cary, NC. Sam is so excited to be a part of his fifth Otterbein show! Sam is also a member of Mainstage Improv and co-president of the Acafellas. When Sam isn’t on stage, he can be seen aesthetically journaling in the library, trying to find parking on campus, or in his underthings. Anna Byers (Helénè) is a sophomore BFA Musical Theatre major with minors in Dance and Creative Writing from Pittsburgh, PA. They are thrilled to be making their mainstage debut in this production. Great Comet is one of their favorite shows, and they are so proud of the work the cast and crew have done. Anna has previously been in student works including Songs for a New World through 11th hour Theatre Company, and a directing workshop of Headspace. They would like to thank their family and friends. Kinsey Calderone (Sonya) is a junior BFA Musical Theatre major with minors in Dance and Public Relations from Lexington, NC. Kinsey is delighted to be back on the Cowan stage surrounded by a stellar cast and crew! Adrian Casto he/him (Assistant Stage Manager) is a junior BFA Design/Technology and BA Art History double major from West Liberty, OH. His previous Otterbein Credits include 9 to 5 (Assistant Sound Designer/A1), Dance 2023: Escape to Wonderland (Technical Director), Cabaret (Assistant Stage Manager), and Black Comedy (Assistant Stage Manager). Dominic Catrone (Servant/Ensemble/Roving Accordion) is a sophomore BFA Musical Theatre major and Dance minor from New Albany, OH. He is thrilled to be back on the Mainstage! Otterbein credits: Bob Enright (9 to 5: The Musical) and Ensemble in the Dance 2023: Escape to Wonderland. Other favorite roles include Rolf (The Sound of Music) and Enjolras (Les Misérables). Dominic has worked around Columbus at the Short North Stage, the Butterfly Guild, and Evolution Theater Company. He would like to thank his family and friends for their love and support.

Lane Champa (Viola) is a violinist and violist from Delaware, Ohio. He performs in New Albany Symphony, Central Ohio Symphony, Camarata Chamber Orchestra, Worthington Chamber Orchestra, and Westerville Symphony. Champa is the Lead Teacher of ProMusica Chamber Orchestra’s Play Us Forward Program. He was Onsite Manager of Chamber Music Connection from 2015-2018, and is currently a Faculty Member. Champa was Marketing Director of New Albany Symphony Orchestra from 2016-2020. He manages a musician collective and performs on the Heather Pick Music Series at Ohio State University’s James Cancer Hospital. Champa graduated in Music, Business, and Arts Administration from Otterbein University (2016). He was concertmaster of Otterbein’s Pit Theater Orchestra from 2013-2024. He enjoys contemporary music and premiered works by Clara Rubino, Charlie Wilmoth, Rachel Epperly, and Brian Riordan. Champa is a guest artist and chamber music coach at Olentangy Summer Strings Camp and manages a private string studio teaching violin, viola, improvisation, and composition.

Jane Cook (Assistant Choreographer, Female Ensemble Cover) is a junior BFA Creative Writing and BA English Film Studies major with a minor in Dance from Canton, OH. This is Jane’s third production as Assistant Choreographer at Otterbein. She has also performed in Otterbein’s Dance 2023: Escape to Wonderland (Ensemble), 9 to 5 (Ensemble Swing), and Cabaret (Kit Kat Girl Swing). Jane danced previously with Canton Ballet Company – an experience she will cherish forever. She thanks her parents for everything, and Stella for her mentorship and this wonderful opportunity. Dennis Davenport (Keyboard II) is a Professor of Music at Otterbein. Current teaching includes Musical Theatre History, teaching in the First Year Experience program, and teaching in the Honors program (his course “The Shock of the New” explores music and modernism in the first half of the twentieth century.) With colleague Jim Bates, Dennis

Katie Debolt (House Manager) is a senior Mathematics major with a minor in Photography from Croton, OH. Originally a BA Theatre major, Katie is happy to still be involved in the theatre department, both with occasionally house managing as well as working in the box office. This will be Katie’s fourth production at Otterbein serving as part of the house management team, and she is very happy to be doing it again! She knows the rest of the cast and crew has been putting in good work for this performance so she has no doubt you will enjoy it!

Marshall Duggan (Lighting Programmer) is a junior BFA Design/Technology major from Thibodaux, LA, and is promising to work with the talented artists on Great Comet. He’d like to thank his partner and parents for their support. In his free time, he enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time in the great outdoors.

Lili Ducy (Draper) is a sophomore BFA Design/Technology Major from Westerville, OH. This is her first time draping for a show and she greatly enjoyed the process. She’d like to thank the costume shop crew for having an enjoyable environment during the creation of this show.

LaBron Foy (Dolokhov) is a junior BFA Musical Theatre major with a minor in Exercise Science & Public Health from Loganville, GA. He is extremely blessed and honored to be involved in this wonderful production. He is eternally grateful to his family, the Otterbein faculty, the production team, and God for another opportunity to do what he loves. Recently, LaBron starred in Into The Woods (Cinderella’s Prince/Wolf ) at Bellissimo Theatre in Georgia. Aidan Heddle (Opera Singer/Ensemble/Anatole Understudy) is a sophomore BFA Musical Theatre major from East Northport, NY. Dawn Horne trained at the Shakespeare Theatre in Washington, DC as an Acting Fellow in the MFA program at the University of South Carolina. She also studied Meisner Technique with James Price at the Acting Studio, Inc. and with William Alderson. Master classes include Richard Thomas, Barbara Baxley, Philip Goodwin, and Floyd King. As a singer, Dawn trained with Dr. Patrick O’Donnell at the Levine School and with soprano Heidi Freimanis-Cordts. She has performed as an actor in New York and in regional theatre. She loves choral music and has been a member of the National Philharmonic Chorale, Cathedral Voices of Washington National Cathedral, the Jonathan Griffith Singers, the Take Joy Chorus at the Strathmore Center for the Arts and was a member of the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra Blossom Festival Chorus before moving to the Columbus area. She also performed in multiple NEWorks Choral projects at the Kennedy Center under the direction of Nolan Williams, Jr., She first became involved in student recruitment while serving as an Admission ambassador during college in Washington, DC. She earned an MA in Writing from Johns Hopkins University.

Anna Hundt (Props Lead) is a junior BFA Design/Technology major from Milwaukee WI. Normally, she is team scenic, but wanted to try out the world of props, so here we are! She wants to thank Olivia Rossi and Natalie Neville for helping her understand the intricacies of propping a show and mentoring her throughout the process. She would also like to thank her amazing roommates for putting up with her crazy, and her parents for their constant support. She would also consider, despite the ups and downs, that this is an absolute slay for #teamgirl.

Nicole Hunter (A1) is a graduate from Otterbein University, having received her BA in Theatre in 2023. She has worked with multiple regional theatres around central Ohio including Weathervane Playhouse, Columbus Children’s Theatre, and The Contemporary Theatre of Ohio. Some of her previous Otterbein credits include Sound Designer for The Importance of Being Earnest, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Our Town; A1 for Bright Star and Something Rotten; and Assistant Stage Manager for A Little Night Music. Some of her other favorite credits include Assistant Sound Designer/A1 for Kinky Boots, Deathtrap, and Million Dollar Quartet, as well as A1 for the Lewberger tour stop at Weathervane Playhouse.

William Iannitelli (Ensemble/Roving Guitar/Dolokhov US) is a sophomore BFA Musical Theatre major with minors in Dance and Exercise Science and Health Promotion from Austin, TX. He is very excited to perform in his second Otterbein mainstage show, having made his debut last semester in 9 to 5 (Ensemble). He is very thankful for the amazing cast and production team that made this show happen, and his family for all their support. Tomasz Jarzecki (Drums), originally from Poland, is a Columbus based drummer/ percussionist. He is a graduate of University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music, where he completed BM and MM in percussion performance. Tomasz is a self-proclaimed “jack-of-all-genres,” and likes to perform in various musical settings. From a symphony stage to a country band stand, he’s done it. Tomasz can be seen performing regularly for Otterbein University’s theatre productions, OSU opera productions, Columbus Children Theatre, as well as smaller productions throughout the city. On a national level, he was a percussionist for two national tours of the 2001 Broadway revival of the musical Oklahoma! He has played drums for many local bands, including Juke Joint Saints, Christy Angeletti Band, Ray Massa’s Eurorhythms, In Full Swing Big Band, Clavesonic Latin Jazz Project, Big Rockin’ Blues Band, and others. Ja Na’Ya Johnson (Wardrobe Assistant) is a sophomore BA Theatre and BS Marketing major with a minor in Film Studies from Columbus, OH. Ja Na’Ya is beyond excited to see this show come together! It has been incredible to witness everyone work so hard on this show and to see the progress of everything. She is also happy to finally stop annoying her loved ones by randomly saying, “The OPERA the OPERA” randomly. She hopes everyone enjoys the show!

Elise Karlstad (Ensemble/Helene US/Dance Captain) is a junior BFA Musical Theatre major and Dance minor from Stillwater, MN. Elise is so excited for you to see this show! Joseph Niedzielski (Roving Clarinet) is a junior Music Education major here at Otterbein University, and a student of Dr. Hild Peersen. Joseph is part of the Otterbein University Wind Ensemble, Cardinal Marching Band Color Guard, and the Otterbein Pep Band. Joseph is so excited to be involved in this production!

Stephen O’Hara (Assistant Lead Electrician) is a sophomore BFA Design/Technology major from Cincinnati OH. His previous Otterbein credits include The Importance of Being Earnest, 9 to 5, Dance 23: Escape to Wonderland, and Cabaret. Other credits include Drag 2024: Dungeons and Drag Queens (11th Hour Theatre), and Beehive and Forever Plaid (Otterbein Summer Theatre). Sierra Pérez-Gelbman (Ensemble) is a senior BFA Acting major from Los Angeles, CA. She is incredibly grateful to be a part of this production. Axl Pons (Oboe/English Horn) is thrilled to serve as the Oboist and English Horn player for “The Great Comet”! Currently, Pons is the Adjunct Instructor of Oboe at Otterbein University and Executive Director of the Westerville Symphony. He currently serves as principal oboe with the Westerville Symphony, third oboe/English horn with the Ashland Symphony, second oboe/English horn of the Huntington (WV) Symphony, as well as serving as an Associate Musician with the Columbus Symphony. Pons is also a lifelong theater enthusiast!

Tom Regouski (Clarinet/Bass Clarinet) is a multiple-woodwind specialist with a Master’s Degree in performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Tom has premiered woodwind parts for musicals including the New York Times Critic’s Pick Then She Fell, Andrew Lippa’s Unbreakable, The Temple: A Magic Flute Experience, and Songs of the Phoenix a song-cycle of new works including songs by Stephen Schwartz, Ingrid Michaelson, Siedah Garrett, and Stephen Sondheim. He has performed alongside artists such as Kristin Chenoweth, Alice Ripley, Matt Doyle, and Kate Baldwin, and was a klezmer clarinet soloist for We Are Here at Carnegie Hall. Recently, Tom premiered the recorder and double reed part for a new musical by David Shire and Adam Gopnik starring Melissa Errico and Jin Ha produced by the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Nora Root (Stitcher) is a junior BA Theatre major with a double major in English and a minor in Art. Great Comet has long been one of Nora’s favorite shows. It’s been a dream to work alongside such a supportive costuming team and to be trusted with amazing and unique designs. Eric Stratton (Bass) is a bassist and guitarist from Westerville, Ohio. He graduated from Otterbein University in 2019 with degrees in Double Bass Performance and Jazz Studies, and enjoys playing a variety of genres, ranging from classical and jazz to rock and metal. Musical theatre is one of Eric’s favorite performing opportunities, and his credits include Short North Stage, Columbus Children’s Theatre, and The Contemporary Theatre of Ohio. Eric is also a piano tuner and technician serving the Central Ohio area.

Tim Swanson (Accordionist) is a multi-instrumentalist and has been playing music professionally for over 2 decades. He is currently performing with the bands Gelatinus Cube, Such Fuss, and Boat Jail. Offstage, Tim is the founder of Capital Accordion Company where he specializes in accordion repair, instruction and sales.

Jane Van Voorhis (Cello) is a native of Detroit and resides in Columbus, Ohio where she holds a private studio of dedicated students. Ms.Van Voorhis performs with groups such as Columbus Symphony, Dayton Philharmonic, New Albany Symphony Orchestra and is principal cellist for the Newark Granville Symphony Orchestra and the Worthington Chamber Orchestra. She has also been a member of the Classical Music Festival in Austria both as an Orchestra and Chamber musician. Jane is often finding herself in a collaboration with different small ensemble settings.... whether it be an improv session, a recording, or simply ready to play scenario. Paige Vick (Lead Electrician) is a senior BFA Design/Technology major with a minor in Philosophy from Ellicott City, MD. She has enjoyed her last 3 years here and is happy to get a chance for even more hands-on experience before going out into the world. Enjoy the show!

Karl Wohlwend (Guitar) has performed across North America, Europe, and Asia, playing guitar in various styles and settings. He holds a master’s degree in classical guitar performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music where he studied with John Holmquist. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree at the University of South Carolina, where he studied with Christopher Berg. Wohlwend served on the faculties of The Ohio State University, Capital University, Otterbein University, and Ohio Wesleyan University. He coordinated the jazz/improvisation program for the Chamber Music Connection, and served on the faculty of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music’s Classical Guitar Workshop for twenty years.

He has written fourteen musicals, including Moby-Dick, a four-part musical reckoning with Melville’s classic novel; Octet, a chamber choir musical about internet addiction; Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, an electropop opera based on a slice of Tolstoy’s War & Peace (12 Tony nominations, including Best Musical, Score, Book, and Orchestrations); Ghost Quartet, a song cycle about love, death, and whiskey; Preludes, a musical fantasia set in the hypnotized mind of Sergei Rachmaninoff; Little Bunny Foo Foo, a forest entertainment for small people; Three Pianos, a drunken romp through Schubert’s “Winterreise”; Black Wizard/Blue Wizard, an escapist RPG fantasy; Beowulf—A Thousand Years of Baggage, an anti-academia rock opera; Beardo, a reinterpretation of the Rasputin myth; Sandwich, a musical about killing animals; and Clown Bible, Genesis to Revelation told through clowns.

He has won two Obie Awards, a Smithsonian Ingenuity Award, a Theater World Award, the Richard Rodgers Award, an ASCAP New Horizons Award, and a Jonathan Larson Grant, and has been a MacDowell fellow and Composer-in-Residence at Ars Nova and the Signature Theatre. The House Manager may seat latecomers only during times which minimize disruption of the performance.

EMERGENCY EXITS

The exits are indicated by red lights. In the event of fire or any other emergency, please walk – do not run – to the exit as directed by theatre management.

CAMERAS AND RECORDING DEVICES

The use of recording equipment and the taking of photographs during the performance are strictly prohibited.

RESTROOMS

Cowan Hall: Restrooms are available on the first floor of Cowan Hall and in the basement. A handicapped accessible platform lift is located at the north stairwell in Cowan Hall. A Front of House Attendant will be happy to assist you with the lift. Additional restrooms are located across the street in Roush Hall on the north side of each floor.

Campus Center: Restrooms are located on the ground level of the Campus Center. An elevator is available for transportation between floors.

Assistive Listening Devices are available at the Box Office upon request.
