BIOGRAPHIES
T.J. Gerckens (Chair, Department of Theatre & Dance/Producer) is the Lighting Design faculty member at Otterbein University, a USA829 Union Lighting Designer, and proud Otterbein alumnus. At Otterbein, he has designed the lighting for 9 to 5 the Musical, Bright Star, Dance 2022: Find Me in the Shadows (with Luca Fragiotta and Sage Wuertzer), Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, Into a Lamplit Room, Dance 2020: The Wild Within (with John Diver), Chicago, Oklahoma!, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Diary of Anne Frank, Adding Machine: A Musical, Damn Yankees, Dance 2016: The Goddess, The Crucible, Fiddler on the Roof, Dance 2015: Famously Yours...Forever, and Dance 2014: Tell-Tale Poe. As a freelance lighting designer, T.J. has been part of the design team for the Tony Award winner and MacArthur Foundation “Genius” Mary Zimmerman for the last 30+ years. Most recently, he designed lighting for the world premiere of The Matchbox Magic Flute at the Goodman Theatre, Swan Lake for the Australian Ballet, performing in four cities and at the Sydney Opera House, Florencia en el Amazonas, and the new opera Eurydice, by Sarah Ruhl and Matthew Aucoin at the Metropolitan Opera, The Notebooks of Leonardo DaVinci in Chicago, Washington DC, and San Diego, the world premiere of The Steadfast Tin Soldier at Chicago’s Lookingglass Theatre, the recent revival of Metamorphoses at the Guthrie Theater and Berkeley Rep, and Rusalka at the Metropolitan Opera in NYC. Other notable designs include The Odyssey at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Guys & Dolls in LA, and Treasure Island at the Lookingglass Theatre and Berkeley Rep. His lighting designs have been seen at regional theatres across the United States, on and off Broadway, and at the Metropolitan Opera. Internationally, he has designed in England, Australia, and at La Scala Opera House in Milan, Italy. He has received numerous awards for his designs including New York’s Drama Desk Award and Lortel Awards for his lighting of Metamorphoses on and off Broadway, Jefferson Awards for The Odyssey and Metamorphoses in Chicago, and an award for “Exemplifying the Art of Collaboration” given to the Zimmerman design team by Entertainment Design magazine. T.J. holds a BFA from Otterbein University and an MFA from Boston University. He is married to set designer and scenic artist Stephanie R. Gerckens.
Melissa Lusher (Director) is a tenured Professor of Acting, Speech, Dialects, and Advanced Directing in the Otterbein Department of Theatre and Dance, where she also serves as the Director of the BFA Acting Program and the Resident Speech/Dialects Coach. She was deeply honored to receive Otterbein’s 2018 Teacher of the Year award. Melissa holds an MFA in Acting from the combined program of Carnegie Mellon University and the Moscow Art Theatre, and a BFA in Acting from Carnegie Mellon. She is also a certified teacher of the Michael Chekhov acting technique through the Great Lakes Michael Chekhov Consortium. Otterbein directing credits include Everybody, A Little Night Music, Mrs. Mannerly, A Lie of the Mind, Theory of Relativity, “Master Harold”... and the Boys, Chicago (named one of the Best 10 Shows of 2019 by The Columbus Dispatch), Rumors, They’re Playing Our Song, The Crucible, RENT, The Nerd, The Greeks: The Murders, The Invention of Theater, No Exit, and Spring Awakening (named one of the Best 10 Shows of 2012 by The Columbus Dispatch). Favorite acting credits include Martha in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (Otterbein), Barbara in August: Osage County (Otterbein), Goneril in King Lear (Actors’ Theatre), Clytemnestra in The Greeks (Moscow Art Theatre), Marina in Volodya (LaMaMa E.T.C.), Margaret in Richard III (AST), and the title role in Miss Julie (CMU). Melissa is hugely grateful to the entire It’s a Wonderful Life company for their ingenuity and creativity.
BIOGRAPHIES
Rob Johnson (Scenic Designer) is back at Otterbein Summer Theatre after retiring several years ago. He holds two master’s degrees (from West Virginia University and The Ohio State University) and was the resident Otterbein Faculty Scenic Designer for 34 years, arriving in 1987. Rob has won numerous Ezekiel Design awards and designed many memorable shows at Otterbein. His long career as a freelance designer for professional and academic companies has included designs for theatre, opera, dance, corporate events, and even an elaborate home theatre for a wealthy patron of the arts! Rob thanks his savior Jesus Christ for a wonderful family and a wonderful career, and for the opportunity to be back working with students and colleagues this summer.
Rebecca White (Costume Designer) is the Director of Design & Technology and has served as Otterbein’s Faculty Costume Designer since 2007. Rebecca teaches courses in Costume Design, Costume/Fashion History, Costume Crafts and Stage Makeup. In addition to designing costumes for many Otterbein productions, Rebecca mentors student costume designers. A few of Rebecca’s favorite designs at Otterbein are The Importance of Being Earnest, The School for Scandal, and Dance 2020: The Wild Within. Rebecca is originally from Minnesota and earned a Bachelor of Science in Theatre Arts from the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse and a Master of Fine Arts in Costume Design & Technology from the University of Minnesota. Outside of Otterbein, Rebecca has designed costumes for Short North Stage, Denison University’s Singers Theatre, and Park Square Theatre, with additional costume work for The Milwaukee Rep, Penumbra Theatre Company, Trinity Rep, and The Santa Fe Opera. When not designing for the traditional theatre stages, she combines her two passions: theatre and horses, by designing and styling for equine artists and performers at Equine Affaire, All American Quarter Horse Congress, Midwest Horse Fair, and other national and regional venues. Rebecca wishes to thank you for being patrons of the arts and supporters of Otterbein’s Theatre & Dance students.
Kyle Krygielski (Lighting Designer) is a freelance lighting designer based in Columbus, OH and is thrilled to be returning for another season of OST. His previous credits at Otterbein include A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Baby, Our Town, The School for Scandal, and Dance 2019: Together Again. Regional credits include Assistant Lighting Designer for Mary Zimmerman’s The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci (Washington DC). Kitty Mader (Sound Designer/Lighting & Sound Supervisor) is a sound designer and engineer from Avon, Ohio. She received her BFA in Theatre Design/Technology from Otterbein in 2022, and is currently the department’s Lighting & Sound Supervisor. Kitty has worked in renowned theatres such as TexARTS in Lakeway, Texas (Sound Designer), Otterbein Summer Theatre (Sound Designer/Lighting & Sound Supervisor), Weston Theater in Weston, Vermont (Assistant Audio Supervisor), The Great Lakes Theater in Cleveland, Ohio (A2), and the Bard Summerscape Music and Opera Festival in upstate New York (Audio Assistant). She has sound designed many Otterbein productions, including 9 to 5: The Musical (2024), Dance 2023: Escape to Wonderland, Everybody (2023), Cabaret (2023), Bright Star (2023), Dance 2022: Find Me in the Shadows, and Black Comedy (2022). Other productions Kitty has worked on include 9 to 5 (TexARTS, 2023), Marry Me a Little, Hair (Weston, 2022), The 39 Steps (Great Lakes, 2022), and Le Roi Arthus (Bard, 2021). Kitty is delighted to be sound designing this summer, and she hopes you enjoy the season!

Hannah “Nan” Bailey (Stage Manager) is so excited to be stage managing for OST! Nan is a recent graduate of Ball State University in Muncie, IN. Her past credits include Ball State University: Cabaret (SM), Language of Angels (SM), SWEAT (1st ASM), The Nutcracker (1st ASM), and more, as well as Matilda The Musical (SM) with Actors Community Theater. Nan would like to thank the entire team for their hard work, Gabby, her parents, and her mentors Chris & Jeff for teaching her everything she knows!
Elizabeth Saltzgiver (Managing Director) has been a member of the administrative staff since 2000. Her experience in Arts Administration includes work for dhc productions, the Westerville Symphony, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Ohio Light Opera, Ashland University College of Arts and Sciences, and the Ashland Balloon Fest. Elizabeth holds a BA in Music and Business from Otterbein University and is currently Treasurer for the Columbus Arts Marketing Association.
Hannah Hahn (Production Manager) is thrilled to be back with Otterbein Summer Theatre! Originally from central Ohio, she earned her BFA in Theatre Design/Technology from Otterbein in 2018. Following graduation, Hannah interned with the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL before returning home to continue her work in the Columbus art scene. Hannah has worked professionally as a stage manager, production manager and event coordinator for several regional theatres including Mason Street Warehouse, Columbus Children’s Theatre, The Contemporary Theatre of Ohio, Opera Project Columbus, Opera Columbus, and Weathervane Playhouse. She also worked as Assistant Production Manager in 2019 for the inaugural CAPA Marquee Awards Program, which provides educational opportunities to the greater Columbus area high school theatre programs. Luca Fragiotta (Technical Director) is thrilled to be back at Otterbein this summer. Originally from Lewis Center, Ohio, Luca holds a BFA in Theatre Design/Technology with a Film Studies minor from Otterbein University. Luca previously interned at the Gateway Playhouse in New York, and worked as the Technical Director at Newark’s Weathervane Playhouse. Luca is immensely grateful for his family, Addy, Elizabeth, all of his supportive colleagues, and his fantastic returning scene shop team. Luca hopes that you will enjoy the show and have a wonderful life!
Connor Christopher (Lead Electrician/Board Operator) is happy to be continuing his stay in Westerville following this past semester. He is also happy to be away from the Florida heat this summer. Connor is excited for his position as Lead Electrician, and grateful for the opportunity to head a crew. He loves his crew of “Sparkies” and is proud of their dedication and determination to their work. Going into his junior year here at Otterbein, Connor is excited to work on his home court for this season. He would like to thank and appreciate his family, friends, and partner, Teagan, for helping to keep him grounded and encouraging him through it all.
Kateri Condon (Lana Sherwood), a native of Horseheads, NY, is a rising senior BFA Musical Theatre major at Otterbein University. Her previous Otterbein credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Puck/Philostrate), and Bright Star (Margo), as well as I Do! I Do! (She/Agnes), The Pirates of Penzance (Mabel/Ruth) and Side by Side by Sondheim (Ensemble)

Kateri and her family watch the film every Christmas, and it will always hold a special place in her heart. It has been such an exciting and rewarding challenge to explore so many unique characters in this beautiful story. She is honored to be a part of this dedicated and caring company and would like to express her gratitude to the creative team and crew and to her incredible castmates. She would like to give a special thanks to Melissa for her amazing direction, all the belly laughs, and for this opportunity. Lilian Ducy (Costume Technical Apprentice) During the school year, Lili attends Otterbein as a Theatre Design/Technology major. This is her first summer theatre job and she is quite happy to work in a familiar space.
Marshall Duggan (Carpenter) attends Otterbein University as a rising junior and eagerly awaits to see the talented artists put on the summer shows this season! Marshall hails from Thibodaux, Louisiana and in his free time enjoys reading and cooking. Why should the number 288 never be mentioned? It’s too gross!
Jason Fragiotta (Scenic/Paints/Props Technical Apprentice) is excited to work at Otterbein this summer with his favorite scenic team. He hopes everyone can enjoy their hard work together.
Maggie Glanc (Company Manager/Box Office Manager) is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, and is excited to be back for her second Otterbein Summer Theatre season! She is a rising senior at Otterbein University with History and Education majors and Race & Ethnic Studies and Film minors. When she is not busy with school, Maggie enjoys crafting, watching horror movies, singing with Otterbein’s female chorus, Cardinal Singers, and more. She is also an Orientation Leader and Resident Assistant at Otterbein. Lastly, she is grateful for the opportunity to be a part of OST once again this summer and would like to thank Elizabeth for her constant support and encouragement. She would also like to thank her Papa Ray, whom she misses dearly, for sharing his love for theatre with her and allowing her to be where she is today!
Nick Hahn (Properties Lead) is a Technical Director, Scenic Designer, Props Artisan, and published Playwright based in Columbus Ohio. A graduate of Otterbein University’s theatre program, Nick has worked all over Columbus and the United States, most notably as the Assistant Technical Director and then Technical Director at the Short North Stage. Nick is also the former Technical Director at the Wellington School, where he rebuilt the technical theatre curriculum from the ground up. Marshall Lehman (Carpenter) is a rising junior at Denison University, double majoring in Studio Arts and Theatre. He’s a cosplay nut, music fiend, art nerd, and an enjoyer of long video essays covering niche internet microcelebrities. He is looking forward to a stellar summer at OST.
Aidan McCracken (Freddie Filmore) is thrilled to be making his OST debut! He is a rising junior Acting major here at Otterbein University. Prior to college, he studied at the Cincinnati Actor’s Studio and Academy, participating in their 2-year studio program. At Otterbein, you may have seen him in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Robin Starveling), This is Our Youth (Dennis Ziegler), John Proctor is the Villain (Carter Smith), or Bright Star (Dr. Norquist/Ensemble). Professional credits include To Kill a Mockingbird (Jem) at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Later That Same Evening (Gus) at the Columbus Museum of Art, Sherwood: The Adventures of Robin Hood (Prince John) with Ghostlight Stage Company, and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (Alfred) with the Cincinnati Actor’s Studio and Academy’s Summer Series. When he is not on stage, he runs the social media for the Otterbein Thearte & Dance (OTD) Ambassador program and is an active member on their recruitment team. Natalie Neville (Scenic Charge Artist) Have you ever thought to yourself, “WOW! Whoever painted this show did amazing?” Well I really hope you thought that when you saw this show!! Born and raised in Newark, Ohio, I now reside in the Westerville/Columbus area as a painter and scenic designer. I currently attend *The* Otterbein University studying the professions listed above. I would like to give a special shout-out to my friends for supporting me through this with nightly sonic slushies, my family for forever asking, “When are you going to move to New York?”, my little brothers for not quite understanding what I do while supporting me nonetheless, and lastly my partner who has graciously let me cook pasta in his kitchen every night and crash on his couch when I stayed up too late watching Bear in the Big Blue House. Stephen O’Hara (Lighting & Sound Technical Apprentice/Scenic & Properties Run Crew) is from Cincinnati, Ohio, and is a Theatre Design/Technology major in the class of 2027 at Otterbein University. His Otterbein credits include Cabaret, Dance 2023: Escape to Wonderland, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and 9 to 5 the Musical. Other credits include 11th Hour’s Legally Blonde and CAPA’s Anastasia, Legally Blonde, SpongeBob, and Matilda. Love to Mom, Dad, and Chaz.
River Perry (Sound Engineer - A1) has recently earned his BFA in Technical Theater from Marietta College, and is thrilled to be a part of the Otterbein Summer Theatre season! He is also pursuing a career as a voice actor and a writer, using skills learned through his work here to create better and more engaging art. He would like to dedicate his thanks to his mom, his mentors Nathan Bradley and Sophie Wheeler, and his dog, Atlas. He hopes the team’s hard work and dedication create a fantastic show for you to enjoy!
Ben Sanford (Jake Laurents) is thrilled to be performing in his second show with Otterbein Summer Theatre after making his professional debut in Baby (Danny). Other Otterbein credits include Cabaret (Emcee), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Oberon/Theseus), and Bright Star (Daddy Cane). Ben would like to thank his cast and crew, his director Melissa, and the ones who have demonstrated the value of this story throughout his life: his family.
Quinn Seevers (Harry “Jazzbo” Heywood) is a rising junior Acting major at Otterbein University from San Jose, California. He’s super excited to make his OST debut! Previous roles include Mustardseed (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Lee Turner (John Proctor is the Villain), and Patrick (The Spongebob Musical). Quinn wants to thank his friends, family, and mentors for supporting him and he hopes you enjoy the show!
Claire Stancy (Sally Applewhite), from Chesapeake, Virginia, is a rising senior Acting major and Dance minor at Otterbein. Her past Otterbein credits include Our Town (Emily), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Hermia), Baby (Pam), Cabaret (Rosie/Dance Captain), and Dance 2023: Escape to Wonderland (White Rabbit). She had an amazing time with OST last summer, and was ecstatic to return this year. In Claire’s free time, she enjoys laughing and having existential crises with Kateri, going on long walks while the sun is setting, and cooking pesto eggs on avocado toast with coffee for breakfast. She would like to thank Melissa and the whole cast for the most laughs she has ever had in rehearsal, Jack for being her George Bailey, and her family for believing in her. She hopes you enjoy the show and remember that your life is important to so many! She would also like audiences to pay special attention to her and Kateri’s curls, which they spend hours helping each other with in preparation for the show.
Gabby Wiatrak (Assistant Stage Manager) is a rising senior at Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia, as a Theater Design and Production major with an emphasis in Stage Management. In their time as a Stage Manager, they have worked across the board in opera, plays, and musicals ranging from Dracula, Sweet Charity, The Apple Tree, Into the Woods, to Moscow, Cheryomushki. When not in school, you can find Gabby in downtown Pittsburgh working for Flyspace Productions as a stagehand for live events and concerts. She is thrilled to be making her Otterbein debut with It’s A Wonderful Life and hopes you enjoy the show!

The exits are indicated by red lights. In the event of fire or any other emergency, please do not run — walk to the exit as directed by theatre management.
CAMERAS AND RECORDING DEVICES
The use of recording equipment and the taking of photographs during the performance are strictly prohibited.
RESTROOMS
Restrooms are located both on the ground level and in the basement of Cowan Hall. Additional restrooms are available across the street in Roush Hall.
