Imminent Return Doctrine
The Apostle John stated his vision would “Shortly come to pass”
The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him was “to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass… Rev1:1
Jesus himself said nearly 2 millennium ago, “Behold, I come quickly…” Rev22:7
The Early Church believed it was “the last days” as declared by Peter: But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel… & it shall come to pass in the last days… Acts 2:16-17
The writer of Hebrews considered it the last days Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Heb1:2
Peter Cautioned:
That you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord & Savior: Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 2Pet3:2-4
Jesus admonished believers to live in anticipation:
“But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delays his coming; And shall begin to smite his fellow-servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looks not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of; And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matt24:48-51 & Lu12:37;45”
Expectant watching
Take… heed, watch and pray: for you know not when the time is; For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, & gave authority to his servants, & to every man his work, & commanded the porter to watch; Watch.. therefore: for you know not when the
master of the house comes, at even, or at midnight, or at the cock-crowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.. what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch. Mk13:33-37
“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, & it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is; & every man that has this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure. 1Jn3:2-3”
It is proper to think Jesus spoke of this time, when at his 1st Passover after baptism by John He said; “Destroy this Temple & in 3 days I will build it again:” as stated: Rev21:22, “.. I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty & the Lamb are the Temple of it” this event is that 3rd day. Jesus becomes “The Temple” when “new heaven and new earth” (NHNE) are formed, Rev21:1. This “ NHNE ” comes after the 1000 year millennium reign of Rev20:2-7, so logically tribulation events must be close at hand. This matches up with the doctrine of imminency, mentioned above. The exact nature being unrevealed, as with the finite number predestined to live in 15003 cubic mile “New Jerusalem” Rev21:2;16. Were each person therein allocated 10Acre, 2,000feet tall, then about 100 times more (570Billion) than today’s 5.7 billion world population would fit into new Jerusalem. Check it by 5280feet/1mile and 43560Ft2/1acre.
