EBB–ALMANAC

Ebb–Dunedin is a story of our unique place in the world. Dunedin’s ancient traditions and blended cultures flow from its wild shores to its city streets. Our contemporary neighbourhood hotel is located right in the heart of things, serving friends, locals and guests a slice of our unique way of life.

We are delighted to have you here. We have noted a few important things for your stay with us.

Parking

If you have been allocated a parking space for your stay, please ensure that you park in the same spot for the duration of your stay and park between the designated lines as we have limited spots for each room.

Les Mills Gym

If you wish to use the gym facilities, remember to bring your room key and card. You will need to present these to Les Mills reception upon arrival.

WiFi

The WiFi password is “comeasyouare”

Dining

You can add breakfast to your room for $35.

Breakfast is served in the EbbKitchen between 7am and 2pm.

Ebb-Kitchen dinner service is from 5pm–10pm,Thursday, Friday and Saturday only. Serving European inspired tapas, curated wines and cocktails. Please advise us if you would like to book a table.

After-Hours Access

When leaving the building after hours, please make sure to have your key with you. Reception closes at 10:00 pm. If you need to access the building after hours, you’ll need to wait for the after hours contact to reach the hotel.

Dating back to 1846, our city centre is an eight-sided pedestrianised plaza, with raised grass terraces. Running uphill from the ocean, it houses many old buildings and has a statue of Robert Burns – a tribute to our Scottish heritage.

6 Dunedin Farmers Market

Every Saturday from 8am, artisan producers and growers from the local Otago region sell seasonal fruits, veg, meats, cheese, nuts, honey and artisanal products come rain or shine

7 Dunedin Botanic Gardens

New Zealand’s first botanic garden, Dunedin’s garden is nearly 160 years old. Enjoy more than 6,800 plant species, the song of wild native bellbirds, wood pigeons and tui.

8 Vogel Street

In this gentrified warehouse precinct, there’s a bunch of great cafes, restaurants and street art.

9 George Street North

Stroll along George Street North for Dunedin’s best fashion boutiques and lots of good cafes.

This independently run studio offers heated and non-heated yoga classes as well as Inferno Hot Pilates (a low impact, high intensity cardio workout) for all levels of students. Great for increasing flexibility, mobility and releasing toxins.

12 Dunedin Railways

Ride Dunedin’s Seasider for stunning coastal views, or journey on the Taieri Gorge Train through dramatic landscapes and historic tunnels. Two unforgettable scenic rail experiences!

13 City Beach Walk

Dunedin’s numerous walking tracks are a great way to experience the city’s beautiful scenery. St Clair Beach to St Kilda Beach is an old favourite and an easy drive from the hotel

14 Tunnel Beach Walk

Blackhead, Dunedin

Follow the fenced track downhill to the spectacular, rocky coastline. At the end of the track you’ll find the rock tunnel (hand carved by pioneers in the 1870s) that gives Tunnel Beach its name.

15 Peninsula Wildlife Walk

Allans Beach is one of many wild, rugged and beautiful beaches on the Otago Peninsula. Well off the beaten track, it’s squawking yelloweyed penguins and lazy sea lions make it truly special.

16 Aramoana Spit

This beautiful sand dune spit at the mouth of the Otago harbour is a tranquil village as well as a wildlife hotspot. Grab something to eat at Port Chalmers and explore the isolated sandy beaches, complete with seals and abundant birdlife.

17 Moeraki Boulders

Hampden

A group of large spherical stones on Koekohe Beach near Moeraki, the boulders are one of the most fascinating and popular attrac-tions on the South Island.

From gently strolls to remote S trails, the best of Dunedin is outdoors.

18 Tairoa Head

The headland at the end of the Otago Peninsula, it is home to a lighthouse, built in 1864, and a colony of over 100 royal albatrosses. At nearby Pilot’s Beach, look out for fur seals and sea lions, penguins, dusky dolphins and orcas

19 Otago Peninsual Bike Ride

Otago Peninsula has twice been named one of the top ten rides in the the world by Lonely Planet. The hills and bays around the city and on the peninsula, are great for riding of all levels, with an unbeatable backdrop of hill, harbour and coastal scenery. The cycle around Otago Harbour out to Portobello village halfway along the peninsula is one of out favourites with a stop at the Portobello Pub for a cold beer.

20 Mapoutahi Pa Site & Canoe Beach

The pristine white sand and sparkling clear blue water beach is also an historical landmark. Steeped in history, this cliff top walk and the tucked away Canoe Beach is one of Dunedin’s gems, hidden away between Doctors Point and Purakaunui Beach. At low tide, park up at Doctor’s Point and walk along the coast to this small, calm bay. The perfect day trip.

Indigo Room’s neon sign lights up a cool city alleyway, beside Phlegm’s Kakapo street art and Pequeño. A cozy, bohemian spot with retro furniture, candlelight, and intimate corners. The highlight is the unique bar bites and ever-changing cocktail, wine, and whiskey menu.
