Increase Sales by Getting Your Customer to

“Touch" T

here is an old saying that states: “Possession is 9/10ths of the Law.” Letting your customer “touch” and feel the merchandise helps them with the decision to own the product. Touch positively influences the feeling of ownership from a store’s point of view.

In four studies conducted by the Journal of Consumer Research they found that just touching an object increases the feelings of ownership a person has for the object. This, in turn, resulted in a person being willing to spend more for the object they were able to touch than the one they could not touch.

This research may explain the link between touch and impulse purchasing. Physically holding a product can create a sense of psychological ownership, driving an impulse purchase decision.

This should not come as a big surprise to us… We are in the business of “touch.” Stylists, Nail Techs, Skin Care Technicians and Manicurists all touch their customers and we are taught in beauty school that touch is a very personal and familiar way to make our customers feel safe and cared for in the salon.

Many beauty supply stores and salon retailers are starting to understand this concept and have put an appliance “Plug and Play” area in their store that allows a stylist or customer to plug in a hair dryer and turn it on to feel the airflow, heat, hear the sound the motor makes and feel it in their hand.

Products are moving into areas where a customer can pick it up and check it out. At Helen of Troy the appliance packaging is performing the service of the “silent salesperson.” All of the information you need to know about the product is on the side of our box. We are adding Smart Phone Scanner Tags to the packaging so the customer can get more information on the item if they want to, or watch a video on how to use the item just by scanning the tag with their phone.

Displays that encourage customers to pick up and touch the merchandise can lead to increased sales even if no additional information is available about the product.

Even if you do not have room for a “Plug and Play” area, your store should have good lighting so the customer can pick up the box and read the product features and benefits. Lighting in a store is very important to create a good “buying and selling” environment. No one feels happy in a dark or in a poorly lit store.

From curling and crimping to straightening and flipping, many customers make use of heat styling tools to craft the perfect hairstyle each day. It can be easy to overlook the damage that these appliances can have to precious locks. Sometimes a reality check is in order.

What is an acceptable heat to reach when using heat styling apparatus on hair? What are some protective measures that can be taken to keep hair healthy?

“Higher heat doesn’t mean faster results. If a tool is too hot, it not only strips the hair of its natural oils but can damage the ends. The best guide is to start at a lower temperature: 250 for fine hair, 300 for medium hair, 350 for thick hair and 400 for coarse hair. When straightening, pass the iron through the hair ONCE, slowly, in order to avoid damage. When curling, make sure to release the curl once the hair starts to feel warm. Holding it longer doesn’t result in a longer lasting curl.”

First: the most obvious answer is sanitation. Yes that’s right.

Clipper blades that are not sanitized and disinfected after they are used on a client will transfer germs and bacteria from one client to another. It is your professional duty and responsibility to prevent this from happening.

Your client believes and trusts in you so much that they repeatedly sit in your chair and hand you money whether they like the haircut or not. You all know that a lot of our clients come back to us because of “YOU,” not because of the haircut. You owe them the professional duty to take care of them. Not just “cut their hair.”

Clients appreciate actually seeing you clean and sanitize your clipper blades in front of them. This type of exercise reinforces their confidence in your professional ability.

Second: Keeping your clipper blades clean and sanitized helps to keep them sharp, yes I said SHARP… If you let your blades get and stay dirty they will build up. You will get ground up hair in between the blades; styling product will stick to the blades.

When this happens your blades may seem like they cut fine, when in fact they are pulling on some hair while they cut. This makes for an uncomfortable experience for your client.

If you don’t believe me, look at your blades.

If they are not kept clean after each usage then sit in the chair and let someone cut your hair with them.

Hopefully you won’t end up with a scalp bacteria and a sore head…

This is what I recommend for keeping your clipper blades clean and disinfected:

You will not shock yourself. Let it run in the solution for about 10 seconds. Dry it off and apply Spray Disinfectant on them.

richology is the science and study of hair, scalp and what ever specialty is being considered.

For example, the study could be for Clinical, Nutritional, Alopecia, Chemistry and Thermo Trichology. TRI means “three” and OLOGY means “the science and study of the specialty.” In my case the specialty is Chemistry and Thermo as it relates to its purpose in the practice of Cosmetology.

ALOPECIA TRICHOLOGY deals with the cause and treatment of natural and abnormal hair loss. This is a highly specialized form of Trichology because it is complex, can be difficult to pin point, and may differ in men as opposed to women.

THERMO TRICHOLOGY may not seem to belong in the category of Trichology, but it does deal with how heat treatments are used in Cosmetology work.

It deals with curling irons, pressing combs, flat irons, driers, heat treatments (i.e. heat caps and heat lamps for processing color and deep penetrating conditioners), and even hot water. Although Thermo Trichology does not generally involve hair penetrating chemicals, it does explain how this service changes the temporary appearance of hair.

CHEMISTRY TRICHOLOGY has to do with how the chemicals in hair care products affect the hair in order to bring about the expected change. Some chemicals studied are Ammonium Thioglycolic acid for (cold wave) curly perms, Sodium Hydroxide and Calcium, Lithium and other Hydroxide ingredients (so called No Lye relaxers).

Permanent hair color products, and how deep penetrating conditioners work to treat and repair extreme hair damage is studied as well. It also deals with how to recognize a problem and deal with it in relation to chemical services.

All that they are taught is what the end results should be if everything goes well. In other words, they learn about the products the same way they learn how to operate an automobile. They know how to drive, stop and control the vehicle, but have no conception of the mechanical workings of the automobile. This is how cosmetologists are trained to enter the world of Cosmetology.

There are basically four chemical services employed in Cosmetology that penetrate the hair to bring about a change. They are: relaxers, curly perms, permanent hair color and deep penetrating conditioning treatments. Most Cosmetologists are skilled at performing these services, but have little knowledge as too how they work to bring about the expected change. The reason this is important is because if something should go wrong, they are helpless to stop or control problems. They are unequipped because they do not know what the interaction of the products is in relation to the hair, other than what the final results should be if everything goes as expected.

Dr. Edward Tony Lloneau received his doctoral from the National Beauty Culturist League (N.B.C.L.), and sanctioned through Howard University in Washington, D.C. in 1985. Lloneau attended the institute as both a student and instructor. His specialized field of study is Tricology as it relates to ethnic cosmetology.

How to Create a

Welcoming

It will take some time and some creativity, but it will result in more sales and more customers.

customers as they enter your store. For Valentine’s Day you could change the sign to pink and red, and put a picture of a Valentine heart on it. As spring approaches you can use some spring colors of yellow, green and pink, and put some pictures of flowers. It may take some extra time and effort to keep changing the signs, but it will be worth it and your customers will notice it.

3. Signage is very important and is an inexpensive way to advertise to your customers that you appreciate their business and are making your store a pleasant place for them to shop.

4. Inside Signage – Inside signs that guide your customers to where the products are located are very important. There is nothing more frustrating for a customer than to have to look all over the store for something they need, and if they cannot find it they will go somewhere else to get it. Walk into a local drug store and notice that at the top of each aisle there are signs telling you which categories of products are in a particular aisle. The same is true of grocery stores. These same types of signs should be in your stores and should be at the top of the aisle where they are easily seen.

5. Special Displays and Sections – You should have a sign and display for new items as well as a sign and display for sale items. Your customer will see the sign and be drawn to that area to explore your new items as well as your sale items.

Business Tips 6. Posters and Window Signs – Attractive posters showing products, hair styles, etc. should be displayed on the walls in your store. Manufacturers spend a great deal of money to have these made and they are available from your wholesaler and/or distributor. You just need to request them.

7. Current Trends Section – Since hair styles are always changing your customers would appreciate a section that would show the latest trends in hair styling. You could have pictures, posters and even some styling books, along with products that help to create these styles in a special section that is marked “Current Hair Style Trends.” Some of the new products and trends are Curl Definers, Argan Oil Products, Natural Products, etc.

8. You should also have signage near the higher priced items that are kept behind the counter. Items such as extension hair, wigs, curling irons, blow dryers, flat irons, etc. In addition there should be something in that area to alert someone in the store that a customer is interested in purchasing or looking at something that is displayed behind the counter or in a glass case. Many times a customer will just pass up a sale if they cannot find anyone to help them. Perhaps a bell that sits on the counter with a sign that says “please ring bell for service,” or a light that would light up at the cash register so that the person there knows service is needed in that area would be helpful.

9. Where to get help with signs – There are many Fast Sign Stores that will make your signs very economically and may even help you if you tell them what you are looking for. You can look on the internet under keyword “fast signs” or “paper signs,” or you can ask another store owner who has signage in his or her store for the name of the place where they had theirs made.

I know it takes a lot of time, work and effort just to run an OTC/Beauty Store and taking some time to put up signage and institute some of these suggestions may be difficult, but I can assure you that it will make a difference and get you more business and customers. It doesn’t have to be done all in one day, but can be done a little at a time. Within a few months you will have a store that is attractive and enjoyable for your customers to shop in.

One Sample at a Time

The opportunities for OTC owners to benefit from providing samples to their consumers are limitless. Sampling can serve as a form of free advertisement for the OTC stores and the manufacturers. A consumer visits your store seeking a particular brand to purchase and upon checkout you offer them an alternative product to try create a potential for another future sale. The sample then serves as a tester of the PPU brand and in return brings the consumer back into the store to purchase the full size product.

PPU is known for placing samples within our case packs so that retailers expect to receive free samples when they purchase PPU products. The key to maximizing sampling opportunities is to ensure that samples are strategically placed throughout the store. For example, product samples that are marketed toward women who wear lace front wigs should be placed in the section with wigs or given out by the store representative that works in that section fitting consumers.

We have become creative with providing a unique display for PPU samples to either sit on or behind the checkout counter. An idea of mine was to provide a fishbowl of PPU samples to OTC stores with all of the PPU brands.

The fishbowl provides the checkout clerk with quick access to a free sample for the consumer.

Secondly, free samples allow the OTC stores to tape a sample of a PPU product to the top of a product which provides the consumer the opportunity to purchase one product and receive a free sample of another in that particular line. The free sample attached to the product is an eye catcher to the consumers and provides an additional incentive to purchase the item.

Natural hair is a topic that has no boundaries and expands across all ethnicities globally. The emerging variety of natural hair care products available in the OTC stores has lead consumers to try a variety of products and brands. Sampling allows the consumers to test various PPU products to find the right product for their texture of hair.

OTC stores have become the link between the consumer and manufacturer. The ability of manufacturers to provide OTC stores with a variety of samples provides a simple solution to the mystery of a consumer’s concern of how the product performs. PPU has set the standard for gaining consumers “one sample at a time.” Samples greatly enhance the best advertising a product can get—the word of mouth endorsement.

Never miss your opportunity to hand a consumer a free sample. Samples make loyal consumers and loyal consumers make profitable retailers.

5 Tips to Monetize Soon-To-Expire Beauty Products You know your customer and your store is stocked with the “hottest products” to meet their needs. Still, beauty industry product trends come and go, eye level shelf space is paramount and your shelves are overflowing with what you thought would fly off the shelf quickly with robust turns. Unfortunately, all products have a shelf life and nothing lasts forever.

Make sure you know what products are on your shelves, their expiration dates and where they are located. Flexibility in frequently modifying shelves is critical to turns and your product investment. Keeping an inventory of products will support options to sell before products expire.

A GUIDE TO THE SHELF LIFE OF BEAUTY PRODUCTS Hairstyling products: Three to five years. Most are alcohol-based, which helps preserve the formula.

Shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel: About three years.

Bar soap: Up to three years.

Anti-aging and acne treatments: Three months to a year. Antioxidants are easily oxidized; they have Vitamin 62

C, Retinol and Glycolic Acid, so be on the lookout for any changes in color.

Discount or BOGO product for not only those soon-toexpire products, but also for discontinued or damaged goods. Your customers will come to know you are having a sale every third Saturday, for example, and the word-of-mouth marketing will drive more traffic.

OTC Beauty Magazine (OTC): Can you tell us a little bit about the history of AFAM Concept, Inc. and the inspiration behind the products?

Akhtar Ali (AA): In early 1994 I decided to start my own business. In 1999 I acquired the Vitale line, and the rest is history.

With my knowledge and consistent need for perfection I had to make a name for myself and my brands. Hearing the needs and qualms of stylists and consumers alike, my persona needed to fulfill their needs. I needed to create quality products that actually worked.

OTC: What is the culture like at this company? How does it affect day-to-day operations and product development?

AA: The Company’s culture is as diverse as the employees and products we offer. We have tried to build an environment that fosters ingenuity, happiness and employee involvement. Our diverse and creative workforce keeps the product development gears churning. AFAM Concept, Inc. would not be where it is without those creative minds that are here day in and day out.

OTC: What is one distinguishing fact that sets the company apart from their competition?

AA: We are a one-stop shop, from product development to the store shelf. From pre-relaxer treatments to finishing touches and hair care to skin care, we are always evolving.

OTC: Does AFAM Concept, Inc. have a mission statement or a driving force behind business operations? If so, please explain.

AA: Our mission is to provide salon quality hair products at affordable prices to all. Our company is built on the desire to exceed the industry’s highest expectations.

OTC: Briefly describe the brands that make up your product portfolio. What tips do you have to help retailers incorporate these items in their stores?

AA: At our humble beginnings our portfolio consisted of Vitale, Mo’body and Elentee. At this moment our portfolio is quite expansive and ever-growing. We are the makers of Vitale, Vitale Olive Oil, Princess By Nature, Evertone, Hawaiian Silky, HS Herbal, HS Moroccan Argan Oil, Elentee Soy, Organic Hair Energizer, Smooth Organics, Leisure Curls, New Life Curls, and our newest additions, Max Fair and Kōeè skin care. By providing a large range of products OTC stores have the ability to incorporate our products in any market, on any shelf.

OTC: If you had to pick one product ingredient that is most symbolic of your company, what would it be and why?

AA: I would have to say that Shea Butter is very symbolic to AFAM Concept. Shea butter is very versatile. It is used in various products ranging from cosmetics, personal care, food, medicine, and house wares. Shea Butter is a timeless and trusted household staple. AFAM Concept, Inc. will always offer a variety of timeless and trusted products for all households.

OTC: In what ways can your OTC store partners and our readers benefit from carrying AFAM’s products?

AA: The benefit of carrying our brand is that you are not tied down to one option or two. With the variety of ingredients, brands, and treatments you can really cater to every person that walks into your store through our products. OTC: What kinds of educational and promotional material does AFAM provide to retailers for product lines?

Does this material educate and benefit the store owner, the consumer or both?

AA: At this moment we have developed various product guides that explain to the store owner the products and their highlights. We also have various merchandisers throughout the country that visit our OTC partners to help educate the staff of our product. For the consumer we have various how-to videos posted on our website that help teach them how to use specific items to achieve a look. All in all we offer something for both.

Manufacturer Profile OTC: Does your company have a presence on the Internet? If so, how do you foresee this facilitating the success of your brands?

AA: Our Internet presence is growing every day. We have various sites dedicated to its pertaining brand. As a global company we must ensure that we are connected with all of our users at every end of the world. Presence on the Internet is essential for our continuous growth.

OTC: What efforts is AFAM Concept making to ensure excellent customer service to OTC retailers?

AA: We are putting programs together so we can have greater communication with the OTC retailers. For 2013 we are putting a huge emphasis on having open and direct communication with our OTC Partners.

OTC: What are some of the newest trends that you have seen in the multicultural beauty and hair care industry? How has the company met the demand of trends?

AA: The biggest trend we have seen is the embracing of the natural texture of hair. People are seeking products that help refine the natural look. Curly is big in a big way, but at the same time straight hair is a timeless look. We have developed various products that allow for the versatility of being curly one day, straight the next. H.S. Moroccan Argan Oil, Elentee Soy, Vitale Olive Oil, and New Life Curls all offer a variety of products that help repair, protect, hydrate and define your hair no matter what type or texture.

OTC: What are AFAM Concept, Inc.’s goals as 2012 comes to a close? Are any big plans set for the New Year that you can share?

AA: 2012 was a great year. We are working on tying up the loose ends with our new brands, launching the websites and marketing material for the HS Moroccan Argan Oil line and the Elentee Soy, while still supporting and refining our existing programs for our Signature Hair Care lines.

고객의 주머니 사정도 소중히 여겨야 합니다 Sunny Beauty Land • Jackson, AL 각박하다는 말이 너무나 상투적이 되어버린 작금의 시대에서는 남의 것을 조금이라도 빼앗아 와야 잘사 는 세상이 되어 버렸다. 남들을 배려하고 생각하는 여 유는 찾아볼 수도 없으며, 오히려 자신의 이익을 잘 챙기는 사람이 현명한 사람인양 취급되는 사회가 되 어 버렸다. 물론, 스토어를 경영하는데 있어서의 기 본 목적은 이윤을 만들어내는 것임은 분명하다. 하지 만, 모든 생각과 행동이 돈을 버는 데만 집중되어 있 다면, 그 외에 것을 잃어버리는 경우가 생길 수도 있 다. 특히, 약자들을 상대로 힘을 과시하려 든다면 그 부작용은 어떠한 형태로든 본인에게 돌아가게 되어 있는 것이다. 타인을 위해서 본인이 모든 손해를 감수 하며 살 수는 없지만, 어느 정도 삶을 영위할 수 있는 정도가 된다면, 여유로운 마음으로 주위를 둘러보며 더불어 살아가는 것도 행복을 느낄 수 있는 또 하나의 방법이 아닐까 생각해 본다. 이번 달에 OTC 뷰티 매 거진에서 인터뷰를 한 Jackson, AL 에 위치한 Sunny

Beauty Land 의 류명순 사장은 넉넉한 시골 인심 같 은 것을 느끼게 해주는 따뜻한 성품을 가진 사람이었 다. 그러한 성품은 그녀의 경영 철학에도 진하게 묻 어 있었다. 훈훈함을 느끼게 해주는 그녀의 경영방식 을 살펴보도록 하자.

스토어 = 집 본인의 이름을 따서 Sunny Beauty Land 라 명명한 류사 장의 스토어는 앨라배마의 작은 도시 Jackson 의 다운타 운에 위치해 있다. 작은 도시에 비해 스토어는 8,000 sq ft 의 대규모에 속하며, 제품들도 빼곡히 들어차 있었다. 흡사 작은 백화점을 연상케 할 정도로, 뷰티 제품 이외의 제품들도 즐비 하여 주민들에게 편리함을 제공하고 있었 다. 88년도에 도미하여, 뷰티 서플라이에서 14년간 근무 를 하며 뷰티일을 배웠다는 류사장은 본인의 스토어를 운 영한지 6년이 조금 넘었다고 한다. “큰 규모의 뷰티 서플 라이에서 매니저로 오래 근무한 경험을 바탕으로, 저의 스토어를 오픈하게 되었습니다” 라는 류사장은, 처음엔 1,500 Sq ft 의 스토어를 인수하여 시작하였다가, 좋은 기 회를 통해 현재의 8,000 sq ft로 이전을 하였다고 한다. 특이 사항은, 스토어 2층에 류사장이 기거하는 집이 있다 는 것이다. “특별히 운전할 일도 없습니다” 라는 류사장 은 대부분의 시간을 스토어에서 보낸다고 한다.

기본 제품들의 구비로 편리함 제공 처음에 스토어를 인수했을 당시만 해도 스토어에 소비자 들이 반드시 필요로 하는 제품들 조차 구비돼 있지 않아, 지역의 주민들이 타 지역에 가서 필요한 제품들을 구입했 다고 한다. 류 사장은 이점을 파악하고, 꼭 필요한 제품들 은 적은 양이라도 구비하여 고객들에게 편리를 제공해 주 기 시작하였으며, 먼 곳까지 가야 하는 수고를 덜어준 류 사장에게 고객들도 오히려 감사함을 표현하였다고 한다. “ 다양한 제품구성이 중요합니다. 고객이 스토어를 방문 했 을 때 찾는 제품이 없어서 빈손으로 나가는 경우는 없어야 할 것입니다” 라는 류사장은 제품의 다양성을 중요시 한다 고 하며 “보통 필요한 제품 하나를 사러 왔다가 여러 가지 를 구입하는 경우가 대부분입니다” 라고 부연하였다. 특 히, 지역의 특성상 고객들이 원하는 제품이 구비되어 있지 않을 경우, 그들이 겪는 불편함은 큰 도시와 비교할 수 없 는 것이다.

고객의 마음을 사는 세일 비즈니스만 생각 한다면, 작은 도시이며 경쟁이 심하지 않은 터라 마진을 많이 올려서 판매할 수도 있는 상황이다. 하지 만 류사장은 “손님들의 돈도 소중한 것입니다. 그들도 피땀 흘려 벌은 돈일 것인데, 소중하게 생각해 줘야 하는 것이 당 연하다고 생각합니다” 라며 더 많은 이익을 남길 기회를 마 다하고 고객들에게 인간적으로 다가가는 방식을 택했다고 한다. 대부분의 경우는 경쟁사와의 가격경쟁으로 인해 가격 을 낮추는 경우 이지만, 류사장은 고객들의 입장에서 그러한 경영방식을 택한 것이다. 류사장은 손님 응대 방식도 남달랐 다. 고객들이 고른 제품이 고객과 잘 맞지 않다고 생각될 경 우에는 “이건 손님에게 잘 어울리는 것 같지 않습니다” 라고 한다고 한다. 이러한 류사장의 고객 응대법에 고객들은 고마 움을 표시하며 단골이 되어 버린다고 한다. 포장을 뜯고 사 용을 한 헤어제품을 가지고 왔을 때, 대부분의 뷰티 서플라 이 스토어들은 위생법상 반품을 받지 않는 경우가 대부분이 다. 하지만 류사장은 본인이 손님의 입장에서 생각해 보고, 그러한 반품도 받아준다고 한다. “오늘은 손해를 볼지 모르 지만, 그 동안 저희 스토어를 방문해 주었고, 앞으로도 방문 을 할 것을 생각하면 결코 손해라고만 할 수가 없습니다” 라 며, “그들도 비싼 돈을 주고 구입했는데, 맘에 들지 않으면 얼마나 속이 상하겠습니까?” 라며 오히려 그들을 두둔하기 까지 한다. ‘세일을 할 때는 제품을 팔지 말고, 자신을 팔아 상대방의 마음을 사라’ 는 말이 있다. 류사장이야 말로 이를 몸으로 실천하는 세일을 하고 있는 것이었다. 도둑이 많으냐 는 질문에도, “없습니다” 라고 잘라 말한 후, “사실 도둑이

없는 스토어가 어디 있겠습니까? 하지만 그들을 경찰을 불러 강경 대처하기 보 다는 타일러서 보내고 있습니다” 라며, 끝까지 고객들을 배려하려 마음을 놓지 않았다. 그러한 서비스를 받은 고객이 어떻게 그 스토어를 외면할 수 있겠는가?

“사람은 더불어 살아야 하고, 약한 사람들을 도와주며 살아야 한다고 생각합니 다” 라는 류사장은, 평소의 그녀 생각을 비즈니스에 접목하여 스토어를 경영하 고 있었다. 류사장의 훈훈한 마음들이 고객들에게도 전달되어 그녀의 비즈니스 성공에 영향을 미치고 있다는 사실은 굳이 확인을 해 보지 않아도 알 수 있을 것 같았다. 처음에 미국에 와서 3~4개월이 됐을 무렵, 주위에 한국사람들도 없고 낯선 환경에 외로움을 많이 느끼고 있었다고 한다. 그 때 우연히 그녀의 조카가 흙이 묻은 손바닥 만한 한국신문 쪼가리를 가지고 왔는데, 그것을 보자 만감이 교차하여 수많은 눈물을 흘렀다고 한다. 류사장은 그때를 회상하며 인터뷰 도중 에도 살짝 눈가에 눈물이 고이기도 했다. “잘 살아 보자고, 고향을 떠나 타향에 서 고생을 하며 살아가고 있는데, 서로 같은 민족이라는 생각을 잊지 않았으면 좋겠습니다. 같은 민족끼리 서로 더불어 살아갔으면 하는 바램입니다” 라는 말 을 하는 류사장에게 앞으로 눈물이 아닌, 웃음이 가득하기를 바래본다.

Providing quality styling tools to your discerning customers is a very important step in developing a good working relationship with your professional clientele.With that said, I will step off of the prior statement quickly to mention, I read a segment in the last issue of OTC Beauty Magazine speaking to the “For Professional Use Only” tag on products. 2012 As the

temperature began to fall and the chill of the new season filled the air, customers and vendors alike geared up for the autumn edition of the Jinny Corp. tradeshows. Bringing seasonal deals and their newest products to the table, manufacturers traveled to the Atlanta branch of Jinny Corp. to kick the show season off successfully.

On September 30 a total of 328 registered customers along with over 100 vendors filled the Doraville warehouse for a day of savings, sales and fun. The general consensus was that the show went well and was a great start to this exhibition series.

To add to the excitement, attendees were treated to a hot lunch and a chance to win prizes in the Jinny money/manufacturer prize raffle. Seeing as the Atlanta show was such a success, it left manufacturers eager to see what the other Jinny shows (Miami, Chicago, LA and Houston) held in store.

Jinny Fall Show MIAMI

2012 On

October 7, Jinny Corp. held their second fall tradeshow, this time at the Miami location in Hialeah, Fla. This event once again drew visitors from near and far, searching for the best deals in the beauty supply industry.

“This could have been the best show ever in Miami,” stated Mike Erasmous, president of the Jinny Corp. Miami branch. “As usual we had a very good mix of our local customers with a heavy dose of international customers from Europe, South and Central America, Middle East and of course the Caribbean. The vendors were very happy with their sales as we were busy from opening to closing time.”

Excited for exclusive deals and new product information, 198 store owners were registered in attendance. With more tradeshows to go, Jinny Corp. employees were excited to see if the trends made by the first two would continue.

“Thus far we have had two great attendance tradeshows in Atlanta and Miami,” declared Mr. Eddie Jhin, President of Jinny Corp. With this encouragement the company pressed forward to the three that remained.

World Natural Hair Health and Beauty Show

magine this: you are sitting around the dinner table on a chilly fall afternoon, surrounded by your family and friends. The

food and conversation leaves you thoroughly satisfied and happy, yet you still want to go back for seconds. Now take this scenario and apply it to the 15th Annual World Natural Hair Health and Beauty Show presented by Taliah Waajid. The spring installment of the show was held back in April 2012, yet it left attendees and vendors alike wanting more…yearning to go back for seconds.

This is exactly the need that was met by the Fall Show that was held on October 6-7 at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park, Ga.

Around every corner of the convention center attendees

could find something to be engaged in. Aside from the actionpacked exhibit hall, there was also an extensive array of other attractions. Some of these included free consumer, manufacturer and professional workshops; a chance to see singing and dancing performances as well as the 2013 World’s Next Top Natural Hair Model, Jessica Williams, on the main stage; “Da Poets Corner” where creativity reigned; watching hair competitions; meeting authors at the “Book Nook;” and the sold-out “Color Me Bad Fashion Extravaganza.”

“The overall feedback from attendees and exhibitors was

that it was a great show and everyone was very pleased,” explained Pat Chapman, Show Manager. “We had attendees to come from as far as London to attend the show.” With over 20,000 attendees and 120 exhibitors in attendance, the show was a great success.

2.무거운 접시에 음식을 담아라=영국과 스페인 연구팀이 같은 양 의 요구르트를 무게가 다른 30개의 접시에 각각 담아 식탁에 내놨 다. 무거운 접시에 담긴 요구르트를 더 맛있고 농도가 짙은 것으로 생각했으며 덜 먹고도 포만감을 느꼈다.

3.작은 포크를 써라=작은 포크로 식사를 하면 큰 포크로 먹는 이들 보다 음식을 21% 덜 먹게 된다는 연구결과가 있다. 미국 유타 대 학이 실험한 결과로, 작은 포크로 음식을 집으면 그 만큼 자주 음 식을 떠 넣어야 되고 음식을 먹는 속도도 느려진다는 것이다. 먹는 속도가 느려지면 포만감도 커졌다.

5.작은 접시를 써라=미국 코넬대 연구팀은 큰 그릇에 담긴 아이 스크림을 먹으면 작은 그릇으로 먹는 것보다 31% 더 먹게 된다는 것을 발견했다. 사람들은 그릇에 담긴 음식을 어찌됐든 다 비워 야 한다는 생각을 하게 되기 때문에 큰 그릇은 과식을 부르기 쉽 다는 것이다.
