Hard on the heels of the opening of the Mackays to Peka Peka expressway (M2PP) the next phase was unveiled last week to the Ōtaki community board. Jargon-crazy or not, we'll probably get used to it being called the PP2O, despite the mangling of the language. A group of heavyweights representing the consortium of Fletchers, Beca, Higgins, Goodman Tonkin & Taylor and Studio Pacific mounted a charm offensive to convince Ōtaki that they were our friends to guide us through three years of disruption and construction of 12km of four-lane expressway.

1) Peka Peka to Marycrest, incorporating an overpass that takes the expressway over the existing SH1, over the railway line to allow the expressway to run on the eastern side of the railway. 2) Te Horo which includes the School Road underpass that connects Te Horo beach road and Hyde Park to School Road (see pic) with a bridge over the expressway.
