Osun Govt. Activates Flood Control Plans

THE State Government of Osun has ac vated preven ve measures to control flooding in every part of the state amidst downpour.

Part of the flood control plans include clearing of waterways, streams, rivers and blocked drainages across the state.

The Director of Floods and Engineering Services, Ministry of Environment and Sanita on, Engineer Kamorudeen Odesanmi, disclosed this on Tuesday in Osogbo, according to a report by the Informa on Officer of the Ministry, Olubunmi Badiora.

OSUN DEFENDER noted that the ac on of the government came on the heel of the flood incidents that occurred in some parts of Osogbo, the state capital, last weekend.

Part of the areas ravaged by flood included Rasco, Alekuwodo, Awosuru, Alie, Sasa, among others.

In response to the incident, the state govern- ment has begun dredging of streams at Okoko, Alie and Gbonmi as well as capital area, Ikire, Ile-Ife and Iwo.
