Basiru, who represented Osun Central Senatorial District at the 9th assembly, said Oba Olanipekun had ceased to act like a royal father and has given himself out to par san poli cs.

He berated the monarch; saying he has been ac ng like a card-carry- ing member of the Peoples Democra c Party.

The senator stated this during a valedictory press conference at his office in Osogbo, on Wednesday.

Basiru claimed that Oba Olanipekun was subservient to the Adeleke dynasty in

Ede, while his palace has been turned into a mee ng point for the PDP.

The Osogbo born poli cian said the Ataoja’s claims that he (Basiru) didn’t do anything for the palace as a senator was not true.

He said: “To put on record, I won in Osogbo and Olorunda local government. I won in Ward 1 unit 15 which is adjacent to the palace of Ataoja.

“I did not go to campaign in the palace of Ataoja because as far as I know him, he has ceased to act as a monarch. He is ac ng as a card-carrying member of the Peoples Democra c Party.

“I know today that it is his palace that they are doing mee ng of PDP. I don’t have any personal quarrel with him.

“As a senator, I put a 45kv generator in his palace, I put electrificaon and I supported the palace beau fica on project with a huge sum of money. I would not have men oned it if he had not said I did not do anything for him.

“If he now feels that he wants to serve his masters in country home, Ede, he is free to do so. If he wants to be a poli cian, let him connue to do his poli cs.”
