SCARLETS We welcome our local rivals the Scarlets to the Swansea.com Stadium for today’s United Rugby Championship fixture. This is the first time since May 2019 that the Ospreys have faced the Scarlets in Swansea in front of a crowd!

The last time we went toe to toe against the Scarlets was back in January this year, where the Scarlets edged ahead in the 22-19 victory at Parc y Scarlets.

RADAR

SAM LOUSI Sam joined the Scarlets after playing every game for Tonga at the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan. He had been a regular for New Zealand Super Rugby side the Hurricanes since making his debut in 2017 and was in the starting line-up that took on the British and Irish Lions the same year. Born in Auckland, Sam had previously played for the Waratahs in Australia and rugby league for the New Zealand Warriors NRL team in his early rugby career. He is the younger brother of Tonga rugby league international Sione Lousi.

SIONE KALAMAFONI The powerful Tonga international, who can play blindside flanker and No. 8, joined from Leicester Tigers in 2020. Sione was a big favourite during his three-year spell at Welford Road and before that spent five seasons with Premiership rivals Gloucester. His first experience of English rugby had been with Nottingham when Scarlets head coach Glenn Delaney was in charge of the Championship club. Capped 37 times by Tonga, he made his international debut 13 years ago and has featured for the islanders in three Rugby World Cups, delivering a memorable man-of-the-match display in the stunning upset over France in 2011. Has won player of the season awards at Gloucester and Tigers and has been consistently one of the Premiership’s leading carriers, building a reputation for his gainline-busting ability and abrasive defence. Enjoyed an outstanding first campaign in West Wales and was named the players' player of the season.

JOHNNY WILLIAMS

Johnny came through the ranks at London Irish before joining Newcastle Falcons. He won the Junior World Championships with England U20s in 2016 and after an impressive first campaign with the Falcons, represented the England senior team in an uncapped match against the Barbarians at Twickenham, scoring a try in the 51-43 victory.

Welsh-qualified, with his father Gareth hailing from Rhyl, the strong-running centre made his Wales debut during the 2020 Autumn Nations Cup.

The Annual OITC Touch Rugby Competition will again return for its 8th year. Matches will be held at Swansea University Playing Fields with a start date of Wednesday 18th May 2022, where the competition will run over a 10-week period, ending with a final’s night held on Friday 22nd July 2022.

The competition will run from 6:00pm - 8:00pm every Wednesday, with each team playing two fixtures per week.
