THE WAVE

PORT CREDIT REDEVELOPMENT

The project focuses on developing a design solution that not only reflects the historical and cultural richness of the Port Credit area but also promotes social and economic viability within the neighborhood.

Working collaboratively as a team of two, we devised a design solution that caters to the needs of the existing user group while also providing an inviting atmosphere for individuals to engage in social, economic, and cultural activities.

Our efforts involved generating master plans for mixed-use development, designing streetscapes to connect the site with its surroundings, and creating a plaza design. Additionally, the project encompassed an analysis that was collectively conducted by the entire class.

This experience provided us with a deeper understanding of the significance of establishing a flexible and accessible space for users, as well as the broader impact such developments have on neighborhood progress. Our aim was to construct a welcoming and iconic development that serves as a landmark within the area. To accomplish this, we produced 2D and 3D visualizations alongside the master plan, streetscape design, and plaza design.

Overall, the project aimed to strike a balance between preserving the area’s historical and cultural heritage while facilitating its sustainable growth and development.

VIBRANT CROSSINGS

ENVISIONING COOKSVILLE FOUR CORNERS

An internship project focusing on creating a dynamic square at Cooksville Four Corners, located at the intersection of Dundas Street W and Hurontario. Cooksville is recognized for its urban character, blending commercial, residential, and transportation elements. Today, the ‘Four Corners,’ as it’s also known, stands as one of the busiest intersections in the region, serving a population of approximately 11,000 within a few blocks in each direction.

The southeast corner of Hurontario and Dundas Sts., previously a gas station, has been transformed into a garden parkette and plaza by the landscape architecture firm Janet Rosenberg & Studio. The area features trees, benches, plantings, and historic markers. Unfortunately, this site has fallen victim to illegal activities and crime, raising safety concerns for its users.

Our proposal introduces activities, interactive patterns, and engaging seating options to transform the ordinary environment into a playful space that breaks the monotony for the everyday users w. Additionally, there is a proposed LRT crossing the intersection, further enhancing its significance as a prime hub.

The objective is to encourage a ‘stop and play’ interaction at this bustling location, providing a respite for individuals perpetually transitioning from one bus to another.

AQUAVISTA A VISIONARY WALKABLE CITY

This visionary project is dedicated to the creation of a walkable city or a 15-minute city that redefines urban living by prioritizing pedestrian movement as the cornerstone of connectivity within an 800-meter radius. Embracing the essence of Konkan’s terrain, the design seamlessly integrates its captivating features into the urban fabric, creating an organic harmony between the natural and built environments.

At the core of this concept is a dynamic approach to mixed-use development. By seamlessly merging residential, commercial, cultural, and recreational spaces, the project addresses the diverse needs of its inhabitants.

Aquavista is more than a city; it’s a living testament to the possibilities of harmonizing urban life with the natural world. As we navigate our waterways, stroll along lush boulevards, and immerse ourselves in a dynamic mix of experiences, we collectively shape a future where sustainability, walkability, and holistic growth coexist in perfect harmony. This is Aquavista—a city where water, nature, and humanity flourish together. This comprehensive vision celebrates walkability, nurtures unity, and serves as a testament to the harmonious coexistence of modern urbanism and the natural world, charting a course toward a future where the best of urban living and nature converge in perfect harmony.

COMMERCIAL+OPEN+MIXEDUSE+BREAK-OUT SPACES

The revitalization plan for Erin Mills Town Centre is a carefully crafted vision that weaves together a dynamic urban environment. The core of this plan lies in creating a cohesive blend of commercial, public, and mixed-use spaces within a well-developed neighborhood. By strategically placing commercial establishments like retail shops, eateries, and entertainment venues, the plan ensures a vibrant and diverse retail experience that caters to the needs and interests of residents and visitors alike.

Central to the vision is the creation of public open spaces that beckon people to engage and connect. These inviting plazas, parks, and green areas serve as focal points for social interactions, enhancing community bonds and enriching the collective wellbeing. Additionally, the incorporation of mixed-use breakout spaces offers a flexible canvas for cultural events, workshops, and collaborative endeavors.

At its essence, this revitalization aspires to foster holistic growth by providing employment opportunities, encouraging cultural expression, and promoting sustainable practices. The harmonious integration of these elements represents the heart of Erin Mills Town Centre’s identity while paving the way for a vibrant and thriving future that encapsulates its legacy and serves as a catalyst for progress .

05 A DIGITAL DESIGN JOURNEY

CREATING VIBRANT URBAN LANDSCAPES

This section examines a variety of approaches to influencing the structure of urban contexts. I meticulously craft a variety of visual assets to express my design concepts using a suite of digital software that includes Adobe Illustrator, Lumion, Photoshop, and InDesign. By adding depth and authenticity to the visualizations, Adobe Photoshop is used to produce beautiful renderings. The sophisticated manipulation of texture, light, and atmosphere in these renderings creates a feeling of location and fully immerses viewers in the imagined urban places. Adobe InDesign serves as the platform for compiling and presenting the culmination of my work, allowing for a cohesive narrative to unfold across various projects.

Furthermore, collaboration remains integral to my design process. By engaging with experts in urban planning, environmental studies, and colleagues, I ensure that my designs not only captivate visually but also address complex socio-economic and environmental factors.

Through the thoughtful integration of digital tools, collaborative efforts, and a commitment to sustainability, I strive to create environments that enrich the lives of all who inhabit them, fostering inclusive communities and sustainable urban futures.
