REGO Restaurant Group Brands Quiznos and Taco Del Mar Support Franchisees
In just one year since REGO Restaurant Group acquired Quiznos and Taco Del Mar, the two iconic consumer brands have grown among their respective loyal customer bases, making them a highly competitive franchise opportunity in the crowded QSR industry. In addition to establishing a more strategic business model, both Quiznos and Taco Del Mar have reinvigorated their menus through product innovation with enticing LTOs using the highest quality ingredients. These menu innovations have resulted in significant momentum for both Quiznos and Taco Del Mar, which recently tapped Chef Mike Gieseman whose been named REGO’s Director of Culinary and Innovation. In this role, Gieseman is responsible for developing craveable items that are operationally achievable at the restaurant level. For Quiznos, Gieseman and his team have been honing delicious recipes that feature prime rib and brisket, such as the new Pit-Smoked Brisket sandwich, available this July through October.

Annabelle Candy Company Celebrates 70th Anniversary in 2020
Annabelle Candy Company was started by a Russian immigrant, Sam Altshuler, who arrived in the United States in 1917. He learned the art of making exceptional candy and crafted the Rocky Road candy bar. He started selling the bar from pushcarts outside of movie theaters, and it became a great success. Soon after, Sam began manufacturing his Rocky Road bar in San Francisco and turned his passion for candy into a company, which he named after his daughter, Annabelle. The Rocky Road bar quickly gained popularity throughout the West coast. In 1965, the Annabelle Candy Company expanded by purchasing The Golden Nugget and Cardinet Candy companies, adding the Big Hunk, Look, U-NO and Abba Zaba candy bars. The company relocated its offices and manufacturing facilities to its current location across the bay to Hayward, California. Sam Altshuler passed away in 1971, and the company’s leadership continued on in the capable hands of his daughter, Continued on Page 45

Funding Fans Flames for Beanfields’ Bold Flavors By Lorrie Baumann
Fueled by several million dollars in new funding from a Series B round that closed in February, Beanfields is roaring ahead with new flavors of its signature bean-based chips on a product development trajectory that will take the company to a broader range of salty snack items featuring navy and black beans as their hero ingredient. The new flavor variations on existing products are launching at this year’s food industry trade shows, where they’ve already started creating some buzz, according to Arnulfo Ventura, the company’s new Chief Executive Officer.
