Volunteering at Orwell Park School

At Orwell Park, we believe that a strong community makes for a strong school. Volunteers bring time, energy, and experience that enrich our children’s learning and nurture their sense of belonging. Whether you’re reading with pupils, helping on trips, supporting classroom projects, or sharing a special skill, your involvement helps our school flourish.

Why Volunteer?

For You:

Experience the joy of contributing directly to children’s growth and learning.

Build new skills, confidence, and friendships within our school community. Gain valuable insight into education and child development. Make a tangible difference; your time and care truly matter.

For the School:

Volunteers add depth and diversity to our curriculum and enrichment activities.

They strengthen the bridge between school and home. They model positive community engagement for our pupils. Every volunteer helps make Orwell Park a more connected, compassionate place to learn.

Our Commitment to Safeguarding

At Orwell Park, the safety and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority.

Because volunteers work closely with children, all individuals must complete our vetting and safeguarding process before starting any role. This includes:

A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check. Application Form, reference checks and a brief interview with a senior member of staff.

Safeguarding induction training, so you understand how we protect our pupils and what to do if you have concerns.

This process ensures:

We maintain the highest standards of child protection. Every adult in school understands and upholds our safeguarding culture. Pupils, parents, and staff can feel confident in the integrity of our volunteer programme.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as these checks take time. They are a vital part of keeping our children safe.
