Orthosis types
KOs with unilateral knee joint
KOs with medial and lateral knee joints
Fabrication technique Hot-air gun To form the carbon fibre side bar wings, screw them on the appropriate parallel alignment device and heat them with help of a hot-air gun at a temperature of 175째C.
Bending iron Contour the aluminium, steel and titanium side bar wings by screwing them on the appropriate parallel alignment device and using a bending iron. In order to avoid fracture of side bar wings, please keep in mind that titanium must not be contoured in narrow radii. The bending radius depends on the thickness of the material. As rule of thumb, the bending radius should be 10 times larger than the thickness of the material. Is a titanium bar for example 2mm thick, the bending radius should be 20mm. But if a smaller bending radius cannot be avoided, we recommend to use alternatively the stainless steel version.
