Orpington Adopts Sunflower Lanyard Scheme Following a successful trial of the Sunflower Lanyard Orpington 1st are proud to announce that the scheme is now being adopted by businesses across the town centre.

T

HE scheme is simple, with Sunflower Lanyards available for customers with hidden disabilities such as dementia, autism or anxiety to wear whilst visiting Orpington town centre.

The lanyard, which is entirely voluntary for people with hidden disabilities and their families, acts as a discreet sign for staff to identify and understand that the wearer may need additional support, help, or a little more time whilst shopping or visiting the town centre.

Orpington is in good company as, since its launch in 2016, it has now been adopted globally by major airports and venues and in the UK, by many supermarkets, railway and coach stations, leisure facilities, the NHS, police, fire and ambulance services, and an increasing number of small and large businesses. Customers can collect FREE lanyards at the Orpington 1st office and look out for the window stickers highlighting businesses’ awareness of the scheme.
