DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE
From the novella “Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” by Robert Louis Stevenson
Dr. Henry Jekyll is a brilliant scientist frustrated by his dull life in Victorian London. He creates a potion to unleash his inner bestial nature, transforming him into the brutish but eerily endearing Edward Hyde. Hyde lives the high life while Jekyll’s mundane MARCH 29 - APRIL 30, 2017 doctoral career continues -- until by William Shakespeare Hyde’s passions begin to turn up a body count. (PG-13) The victors of Rome’s civil war have divided the Empire amongst themselves and Marc Antony has traveled to exotic Egypt to take up rule over his corner of the globe. There he encounters Egypt’s mysterious monarch, the irresistibly entrancing Cleopatra. Their impassioned affair ultimately pits their two countries against each other and will change the face of the ancient world forever. (PG-13)

On Stage with Love's Labour's Lost or Antony and Cleopatra
Recommended: 7th – 12th Grade Fee: $5 per student (student matinee ticket not included) This exciting pre-show workshop prepares your students to experience our production of Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost or Antony and Cleopatra. In just 30 minutes we will have your students immersed in the world of the play, creating a greater understanding of the plot, themes, and major characters. SHAKESPEARE ALIVE!
Supplement to Love’s Labour’s Lost and Antony and Cleopatra Shakespeare Alive! is a workshop facilitated by two Actor/Educators. In the first half, students engage in an interactive plot summary of one of William Shakespeare’s plays. In the second half of the class, students paraphrase Shakespearean text, distinguishing between the denotative and connotative meanings of words. Shakespeare Alive! is a perfect companion experience to attending a student matinee! Additional Shakespeare workshop titles available; workshops can be adapted for 5th - 12th grade.

Classics Alive! is a workshop facilitated by two Orlando Shakespeare Theater Actor/Educators. In the first half, students engage in an interactive plot summary of one of our favorite classics. In the second half of the class, students adapt the summary into their own scenes. Classics Alive! is a perfect companion experience to attending a student matinee!

Point of View is an interactive workshop facilitated by two Actor/Educators which leads students through an examination of bullying. Using theater games, students explore how the use of gesture, posture, vocal inflection, and verbal content informs status in everyday interactions. The workshop helps students develop a vocabulary which encourages them to endow classmates with higher status. Her pink indulgence lands her at the doctor’s office with Pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe—a dream come true for this pink loving enthusiast. But when her hue goes too far, only Pinkalicious can figure out a way to get out of this predicament.

Recommended: 1st - 2nd Grade Fee: $155 per class (25 students); $500 for 4 classes During this interactive workshop, students will demonstrate an understanding of the parts of speech (noun, verb, and adjective). Actor/Educators lead the students in a “Mad Libs” inspired exercise in which they create their very own Pinkalicious story they can share with the rest of the class. Magic Tree House Alive
Recommended: 2nd - 4th Grade Fee: $155 per class (25 students); $500 for 4 classes During this interactive workshop, Orlando Shakespeare Theater’s Actor/Educators encourage your students to act as authors and create story ideas for their own Magic Tree House Adventure. Through interactive games and theater exercises, students work in groups to pick a historical central character, time period, and magical object, creating a “snapshot” of story elements using their own bodies as statues. Students are introduced to the theater artist roles of director, stage manager, and actor. Follow-up activities include writing letters to author Mary Pope Osborne explaining their story suggestions, and designing book covers based on their ideas.
