Northern Sky With the weather stuck on rain, chill washed clouds, here a grey on grey landscape, misted drizzle to remind me of a northern sky. Yet a gannet hangs at sea edge such a sense of energy, of joy bright white, wide winged plunging circling after the same fish that lure a lone black seal. A break in the rain brings swallows, endless acrobatics, wheeling, synchronised feeding. Their muscular grace in the foreground, the gannets’ bold grandeur behind. The sea clean and cold. Rose Cook
