Design house and interiors brand Oriana B is the discerning choice for considered, aspirational and enduring interiors in Ireland. It was founded on a serendipitous partnership and an unwavering promise: to offer distinctive designs for independent minds.
Launched in 2019, Oriana B began with Dublin-based Londoner Katharine Deas sourcing and selling unique furniture online, having pivoted from a 25-year international corporate career to pursue her love of design. Her discerning taste and friendly professionalism quickly established Oriana B as a rarity in the Irish market, so much so that it caught the attention of accomplished interior designer, Dubliner Alannah Monks.
Katharine and Alannah immediately bonded over their shared appreciation for functional furniture that elevates the ordinary. Their creative partnership was instant as they collaborated on new collections, photoshoots and campaigns with Alannah eventually joining the Oriana B team full time as Creative Director in 2020. Alannah’s exceptional and grounded creativity coupled with Katharine’s natural operational and strategic drive is the foundation of their successful design house.
Now leading an all-female team in Fairview, Dublin 3, their mission is to create and supply thoughtfully designed furniture, lighting and homewares that give independent thinkers the power to create tasteful homes. The pair unveiled their first in-house designed collection in 2024 for Oriana B. The culmination of a year-long pursuit, they sought to solve the many shortcomings of modern furniture, mirrors and lighting. The collection was designed in response to their clients’ frustrations with the current interiors offering, which ranged from a lack of aesthetic imagination to poorly considered technical aspects such as ill-sized cabinetry not fitting Irish homes, television units coming without cable cut-outs and wall lights lacking installation options.
From late-night sketches and international travel to traversing workshops, meeting tradespeople and hours-long conversations with suppliers to perfect their designs, the collection captures Katharine and Alannah’s dedication to delivering cosy, considered and function-first interiors. Designed in Dublin and handmade in India, the collection comprises over 100 pieces across cabinetry, armchairs, upholstery, lighting and mirrors that encapsulate Oriana B’s signature polished eclecticism.

The Vision Something impractical cannot be beautiful”
We don’t subscribe to any one school of belief when it comes to interior design. People are multifaceted and so are our homes, therefore our homes cannot be rigidly tied into one look.
Our brand of eclecticism is a mixture of 20th century inspired designs and European traditionalism made in modern proportions. Our interiors have a sense of permanency and legacy as we incorporate motifs and shapes from design history, while aspiring to be modern and original.
We believe that our pieces are built and designed to last and with enough integrity to match a multitude of looks. We create “grown up” interiors that don’t feel stuffy, those that appeal to people’s creativity without frivolity.
We believe that first and foremost homes are made for living, therefore everything in your home should have a purpose and be fit for purpose. Whether it is a sofa or a picture on the wall, it should be as functional as it is lovely. Furniture shouldn’t be simply for show, everything we create is carefully considered for use as well as for beauty!
For us liveability is not only about functionality, it is also about creating an environment that feels comfortable, cosy and inviting; a place where you can truly live without the anxiety of perfection. The Journey
Designed in Dublin and handmade in India, the collection comprises over 100 pieces across cabinetry, armchairs, upholstery, lighting and mirrors that capture Oriana B’s mission of creating thoughtfully designed pieces that give independent thinkers the power to create distinctive homes.
Oriana B’s first custom collection provides an imaginative and design-led answer to the many functional shortcomings that Oriana B’s design duo have identified in modern furniture, lighting and mirrors in their five years of sourcing and curating for Oriana B. Edition 01 is the culmination of a year-long pursuit by Oriana B founder Katharine Deas and Creative Director Alannah Monks, who designed the range in response to their customers’ needs and feedback.
“Since founding Oriana B in 2019, our team has always given close and thoughtful attention to our customers’ feedback about the existing interiors offering in Ireland.
“Features like cabinetry not fitting into the space plans of Irish homes; television units coming without cable cut-outs; or wall lights lacking multiple installation options were among the common frustrations we heard. This, coupled with what we saw as an acute lack of discerning and aspirational design in Ireland, inspired us to create our first custom collection for Oriana B,” Oriana B founder Katharine Deas said.
Katharine and Alannah conceptualised and designed the new collection following countless late-night sketches, design analyses and collection briefs in their design house and studio in Fairview, Dublin 3, before travelling to Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh in India in August 2023 to oversee its production.
The pair traversed workshops, met tradespeople and perused materials, fabrications and styles with suppliers before their collection was brought to life by expertly skilled tradespeople. The collection captures Katharine and Alannah’s dedication to delivering cosy, considered and function-first interiors.
Highlights of the collection include luxurious Art Deco-inspired cabinetry like chic bedside storage, statement coffee tables, and television units coloured with a rich patina featuring curved line motifs.
Upholstered pieces like mid-centuryinspired velvet armchairs in burnt orange and olive, and cosy boucle fireside armchairs are also key pieces, alongside enamel finished and bobbin framed mirrors and decorative lighting designs. The combination of textured and smooth finishes throughout the collection whether it’s stone and wood or pleats and enamels is a recurring feature of the Oriana B style.

“Design appreciation has magnified in Ireland in recent years; there’s a sense of people breaking the mould and rejecting conformity in favour of creating personalised, cosy and welcoming homes that are beautiful to look at and creatively satisfying.
“Customers are moving on from the cookie-cutter style homes of the early 2000s and exploring their own design influences and preferences to create homes that feel discerning and personally invested in – that’s the mark of true luxury and Oriana B’s new collection is the perfect purveyor of that,” Deas said.
The Collections
For Edition 01, we have focused on items that have been repeatedly requested by customers over the years. Our first collections are mostly centred on the living area of a home and address all the areas that make for a comfortable, cohesive and decorative environment. Somewhere that expresses the personality of the owner and allows personal treasures to be incorporated and showcased.
Side Tables Collection
Our inaugural side table collection focuses on adding vibrant splashes of colour and enhancing visual appeal. Side tables are versatile and most can work in living rooms or bedrooms as nightstands. Additionally, we have included two enamel pedestal tables for that all important perching.
These decorative side tables complement the side tables that sit within the designed collections.
A good side table completes a room so make it decorative and useful.

A shortage of great armchairs was the inspiration for developing our own range. We wanted to reflect different eras and allow for different needs.
Edition 01 introduces five styles of armchair, two styles of dining chair and one bench. Each of these designs serves a particular function and need that we identified from discussions with customers. The fireside chair has a vintage feel and open arms so that it can be slotted into tight corners. The linen armchair very much responds to a need for something elegant that sits well into period homes but without absorbing too much space. The leather chair and the green mid century inspired armchair take lots of inspiration from the 20th century. And finally the slope arm rust armchair is undoubtedly the most versatile with a comfortable cushion and low profile, this chair fits into modern and period homes providing useful seating for alcoves, opposite sofas, kitchens, bedrooms and living rooms.
The two styles of dining chair were developed with comfort in mind. The green velvet dining chair is a well padded and comfortable take on a classic mid century shape yet with the added benefit of a crossed seat support which gives this chair extra wow factor. This chair is especially good when paired with round or oval dining chairs as the curve of the back flows with the table curves. The black and linen dining chair is much more redolent of the 1970s with a wide and generous seat and paired back detailing that will work with any colour of wood giving excellent flexibility for pairing with existing dining tables.
Finally the linen storage bench adds a versatile touch to the upholstery collection ideal for bedrooms, hallways or under a window sill which is a common request. Choosing a neutral linen enables owners to style with different colour cushions and throws and make it their own design.

Mirror Collection
Every room needs a mirror and at Oriana B, we have always excelled in finding the perfect mirror for your home. When designing the first Oriana B mirror collection, we wanted the incredible versatility of mirrors – their ability to enlarge a room, reflect light and of course reflect people – to be matched by their prettiness. We also knew that certain sizes worked better than others and that a black mirror has incomparable qualities.
Each of our mirrors has different yet complementary features. The beaded circular mirrors are smaller at 60cm diameter and come with a wide, beaded enamel frame. These mirrors are absolutely ideal for adding a splash of colour to a Guest WC and come in our Edition 01 colours: burgundy, teal and green.
The larger ridged circular mirrors are 80cm diameter and have a thinner frame but are given the extra complementary design detail of a bevel to the glass. These enamel mirrors are also available in our Edition 01 colours of burgundy, teal and green.
To complement the two enamel collections, we have also designed a striking portrait mirror available in both black and gold. These beautiful mantle mirrors have ridged frames with an attractive art deco corner detail that complements large fireplaces. The frames are reassuringly thick and deep and the wooden frame has a warmth of touch.
The most eye catching of the range is the rectangular bobbin mirror which leans into the classic Shaker movement motif. These hand carved mirrors are warm and tactile and come in three finishes: the Edition 01 green, a natural wood and neutral matt black.
All our mirrors have wooden frames and backings which give them a substantive quality and sense of timelessness.

Marble Collection
When creating our own marble topped pieces we were conscious of balancing the sleek and hard stone with warm woods and curved angles, creating an inviting silhouette and a tactile finish. These are the perfect pieces to introduce stone accents into a home in monochrome shades of white and black.
The key to designing an interesting home is having a varied texture palette that will create depth in a space.
Stone plays a key role in this, with it’s natural variation in shade and light, smooth finish and luxurious tactile appeal. We extended the texture palette of our furniture with warm wood topped by smooth stone which provides the perfect way to introduce stone into any home.
Using soft curves on the warm toned wood and curved corners on our inset pieces of white and black marble, we have created pieces that incorporate stone in an inviting and cosy way.
Naturally stunning
Finding the right combination of stone and wood was fundamental to designing this collection. We chose a white stone with a clean and smooth finish, with simple variation of grey tinted clouding and veins but a mostly uniform appearance. However, when it came to the black stone in our nest of tables we opted for a little more drama with brighter veining dappled through the smooth finish.
Simple yet striking
When designing these pieces we allowed the materials to speak for themselves. Keeping the natural wood smooth with the subtle grain of the mango wood in a warm mid tone stain, the pieces are all about creating a beautiful simplicity by virtue of quality textures. The softened corners and seamless inset handles for the drawers enhance the simple yet statement making shape.
What inspired the look?
“Stone has always been a core part of our aesthetic and the collection as a whole,” says our founder Katharine Deas. “We are believers in the beauty of stone but also the practicality of having something so hardwearing for pieces that can take a bit of a beating like hallway console tables!”
We knew that stone would be an integral part of our collection but we wanted to approach it in a way that was original but subtle, looking to create pieces with depth without being an inaccessible design for the average home. We tried incorporating stone tops in a number of sketches and prototype meetings, never quite achieving the balance of simplicity and luscious texture that we wanted. We researched older designs and came across an image of a slimline mid-century nest of tables and set about adapting the look with some modern curved edges and an inset piece of stone and the collection was born!
How to care for the stone tops?
Despite appearances, natural stone is a soft and porous material - simply ask any kitchen maker’s opinion on marble countertops and you will find that appearances can be quite deceiving!
Knowing the tricky nature of marble, we sought out a tougher white marble for our tops steering clear of soft stone and instead opting for a natural Indian stone with a much tougher exterior and a mid sheen. Nevertheless, we recommend going easy on stone tops to avoid chipping and always use a coaster as dark liquid can stain any light stone quite easily. Use a lightly damp microfibre cloth for an occasional clean and always dry completely to ensure your marble tops stay in pristine condition.

Inlay Collection
We designed our inlay collection to bring stylish, solid and functional black furniture into homes. We have always been big believers in black as a neutral and took inspiration from the heritage art of inlay wood craftsmanship to give our black pieces a softer edge for modern living.
The Inlay collection is our signature black cabinetry range. From dining room essentials to hallway and alcove problem solvers, this stylish range is a simple and beautiful way of adding dramatic black colour to your home.
We designed our Inlay cabinetry as an accessible yet interesting way of incorporating black furniture into your home to create balance with lighter pieces and other wood colours.
Signature finish
We worked through sample after sample to create our signature black wood finish. With a light sandblast and deep stain, this creates a tactile and timeless finish looking modern yet storied and beautifully contrasting with the the inlay effect flush shaker doors in a warm, deep wood tone. Paired with brass piano hinges, the palette of this piece is deep and inviting.
Form and function
After years of experience sourcing furniture, we have come to understand the fundamental needs people have that were not being met. Our Inlay collection addresses these with beauty and practicality from the hanging glass storage in our bar cabinet, internal shelf heights that can store a standing wine bottle to sliding doors on our narrow hallway cabinet.
What inspired the look?
“I first conceived of the two tone wood cabinetry while designing a commercial project in 2022; Goldies Bar,” says our Creative Director, Alannah Monks.
“I was taking inspiration from vintage inlay game tables from the 1950s and 60s and how beautiful the craftsmanship was on some of these pieces, for the project I created a range of tables that mirrored this look.
When the time came to create our own designs, I knew that I wanted to create a range of black cabinets as I’m a big believer in using black furniture to ground a space, but doing so in a chic way that doesn’t pull focus isn’t easy. I decided to adapt my Goldies idea with some mid century style legs and the range was born!”
Where can I use black furniture?
We believe that black furniture has a place in any room but works especially well in a space with many wood tones already existing.
“As a rule of thumb, I say that three different wood tones is all any space can handle,” Alannah says. “You have to account for your floors first, then one large piece like a sideboard or dining table, and lastly smaller pieces like chairs and lighting. Then you should reach for black to create some depth and contrast! A great example would be a wooden dining set paired with a black bar cabinet, or a wooden coffee table paired with a black media unit.”
Treat black as a neutral and it will work in any colour scheme or palette. A single piece is all you need to make an impactful statement.
Creating the perfect size and shape furniture for your home
The Inlay collection, like all our cabinetry, is designed to make them as functional as possible and drawing upon the feedback from real customers and their real homes.
• The 2 Door Cabinet; This piece was designed as the ideal alcove filler in a living room. At 90cm wide it will fit alongside a fireplace in most homes and 86cm works well as a TV cabinet in rooms of approximately 4m depth.
• The Tall Bookshelf; With the base dimensions matching the 2 Door Cabinet, this piece is a perfect alcove filler for a room with tall ceilings, especially in living rooms with record players with the base fitting most 30 x 30cm records.
• The Sliding Door Cabinet; We created a versatile and stylish piece for narrow hallways and landings. At 30cm in depth and sliding doors, it is perfect for walkways that need a little boost of storage and a play to pop a table lamp upon.

Marquetry Collection
Creating a wood collection that was as functional as it was beautiful was top of our priority list. We adapted the classic marquetry look to create an in-frame flush shaker solid wood door on brass piano hinges for a timeless appeal. Adapting the look across a range of shapes and sizes for a whole home approach.
This inaugural collection has taken inspiration from many design movements and in particular the Shakers who prioritised craft work in their practice which translated to furniture in the form of clean lines, tapered legs and crafted finishes such as the bobbin style. In the marquetry collection, we’ve taken the classic Shaker door yet instead of inset inner panel, we’ve used a cut out technique to delineate between the panel and the border. This creates an elevated finish to a well known style which is further enhanced with the choice of a honey coloured stain and piano hinges to the cabinet doors. The overall effect is one of restrained design where the detail belies the obvious craftsmanship.

Floor lamps
Customers repeatedly asked us for decorative floor lamps and so this formed a staple of the inaugural collection. We opted for three distinctive designs.
A classic wooden floor lamp with different shade choices, an elegant gooseneck reading lamp and a more contemporary styled black cone reading lamp. The floor lamps all take a 1 x E27 bulb to maximise the illumination including the cone floor lamp so that it could genuinely useful in helping reading a book!
Wall lights
Edition 01 features a range of decorative and functional wall lights. Pleated shades for colour and texture, antique brass finishes and lights designed for bedrooms, living rooms, hallways and kitchens is our focus. To make it possible to retrofit our wall lights, all are supplied with the option to be plugged in or wired in. The plug has a 2m cable that extends from the bottom of the wall base plate and ends in a three point plug. If not required, then this cable can be removed and the lamp wired in directly to the wall from behind the base plate. In this instance a small brass cover is supplied to fit over the cable exit point and ensure no untidy holes remain.
Table lamps
The table lamps in Edition 01 follow the colour ways of the pedestal tables and the enamel mirrors: burgundy, sky blue and green. We have combined the smooth matt enamel bases with pretty pleated shades for contrast and a distinctive look. Each lamp colour is available with a choice of two shades - a matching coloured lampshade or a neutral lampshade. At 65cm and 75cm high, these table lamps are substantial without being overbearing and work especially well on bedsides, sideboards, console tables and side tables.
Bookshelf lamps
We developed the bookshelf lamps for bookcases which have no light and need a dark corner illuminating. These lamps stand on your bookshelf by virtue of either a wooden or a marble block which will slot onto the shelf between the books and act as a bookend as well as a light support. The lamp itself has a small swan neck fitting which extends outwards with a green or a white shade. The lamps have a lead from the back of the lamp ending in a three pin plug that can then be plugged in behind the bookcase.
Lampshades
We chose four distinct colourways for our lampshades plus a neutral shade for when colour is not required. Our shades come in two sizes – medium and large. Medium shades are perfect for table lamps and large shades work better on standing lamps or large table lamps. All shades have an internal gimble fitting which means they can be used in both hanging pendants and on upright lamps.

Curved Collection
The OB collection has always been informed by the history of design and furniture making. When designing our own pieces we knew that the Art Deco movement of the 1920s would be one of our biggest sources of inspiration, with it’s belief in decorative art and innovative craftsmanship. We wanted to pay homage to the era that has shaped so much of the creative world!
With curved corners, delicate fluting, waterfall sides and a deep patina on dark wood, this collection is an artistic and design led look with all of the practicality of modern furniture with pieces that suit every space.
Architecturally inspired
Getting the balance of fluting right across this collection was important to us, with many iterations sampled to get the right balance of width and curve gradient. We looked at American Art Deco architectural proportions such as the Chrysler Building of NYC or Union Station of LA to achieve the perfect balance and ratio.
Built for living
We will never put form over function in OB. Everything we design is created to be as useful as it is beautiful! Therefore we always ensure that pieces have as many applications as possible, such as sideboard cabinets being tall enough to stand a wine bottle in or bedside drawers deep enough to stand cosmetics in - there will be no spillages on our clock!
