FALL FESTIVALS AND EVENTS Oregon’s Tualatin Valley is rich with events that celebrate the bounty and diversity our region has to offer. Don't miss out on these fun autumn events.

Verboort Sausage & Kraut Festival | November 4 | Verboort, OR | verboort.org/dinner

Sidewalk Chalk Art Festival & Corn Roast and Harvest Festival | September 16 | Forest Grove, OR | valleyart.org/chalkart

For 90 years, the Verboort Sausage Festival has offered up a smorgasbord of food, crafts and sudsy beer. The community of Verboort serves up 15 tons of handmade sausage—as well as sauerkraut and applesauce—at this popular dinner that attracts people from all over the region.

This year, these two events are collaborating to make a Harvest Festival celebration. The 33rd annual Sidewalk Chalk Art Festival (the oldest chalk art festival in Oregon) invites artists of all ages and skill levels to create a chalk masterpiece along Forest Grove’s Main Street. The Corn Roast and Harvest Festival celebrates Forest Grove's agricultural roots with this fun event featuring fresh-roasted corn, along with burgers, sausages, hot dogs and more. Oktoberfest | Various dates and locations | tualatinvalley.org/oktoberfest While Oktoberfest has German roots, the Tualatin Valley puts its own spin on it, sharing our local beer culture with any and all who visit. Celebrate by visiting breweries in Tualatin Valley or attend one of the Oktoberfest events slated this fall.

October West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta | October 21-22 | Tualatin, OR | tualatinoregon.gov/pumpkinregatta The 19th annual West Coast Pumpkin Regatta returns to the city of Tualatin, October 21-22, with a weekend of festivities. The fun starts on Saturday with “Pumpkin and Pints.” Giant pumpkins and other vegetables compete to win cash prizes at Stickmen Brewing Company. On Sunday, join the 5K Regatta Run/Walk at Tualatin Community Park. Stay for the wild and wacky Giant Pumpkin Regatta, featuring costumed racers paddling gigantic pumpkins along a 2

watercourse on Tualatin Commons Lake. Costume contest, pumpkin bowling and pumpkin golf are among the other activities happening on Sunday. Admission is free.

Thanksgiving Wine Weekend | November 24-26 | Wineries Throughout Tualatin Valley | tualatinvalley.org The annual Wine Country Thanksgiving is a long-standing tradition in Oregon's Willamette Valley wine region. Thanksgiving Wine Weekend features open houses at more than 30 wineries throughout the Tualatin Events & Valley, where guests will enjoy special Festivals tastings, entertainment and light bites. The weekend provides a rare opportunity to visit many of the small wineries that are not regularly open to the public. THE MAGIC OF TUALATIN VALLEY IN THE FALL TOP REASONS TO VISIT THIS AUTUMN WONDERLAND! Autumn in Tualatin Valley is a treat to the senses. The crisp, cool air. The smell of fireplaces burning. The crackling sound of fallen leaves underfoot. The sight of beautiful valleys as they glow in hues of orange, red and green. We’ve compiled a list of the five top reasons to visit Tualatin Valley during the autumn months.

1. THE WINE HARVEST During autumn months, our wineries are hoppin’ with activity. From harvest to crush, the energy at our award-winning wineries is infectious. Although wine lovers will have to wait to get a taste of the 2023 harvest, tasting room visitors may have the opportunity to sample and buy new releases throughout the fall.

4. FALL COLORS September and October are prime months for “leafpeeping” in the Tualatin Valley. One of the best ways to view the splendor of the Tualatin Valley this time of year, is with a drive along the Vineyard and Valley Scenic Tour Route, a 60-mile driving tour. Discover farms, wineries, amazing sights and more along this experiential tour of our agricultural valley.

5. OUTDOOR ADVENTURE Soak in the cooler temperatures and ride along the many miles of road, gravel and car-free cycling paths in Tualatin Valley. Zip lining also is a popular pastime with aerial ropes courses and guided zip-line tours. Or paddle along the scenic and serene Tualatin River Water Trail for a memorable way to soak in the colors of the season.

2. PUMPKIN PATCHES & U-PICK HARVEST SEASON Fall is apple season, and whether you pick your own or buy them already picked, bite into a fresh, Tualatin Valley apple. Apples ripen in late summer, so September is prime picking time for apples such as Gravenstein and Akane. Throughout October, farms are awash with orange as several pumpkin patches are open for harvest family fun. Pick the perfect pumpkin for carving or get lost in a hay or corn maze at a local farm.

3. AUTUMN BIRD MIGRATION October marks the start of bird migration season, as the Tualatin Valley is on the Pacific Flyway, the north-south path for migratory birds in North America and South America. Take a stroll through wildlife and nature parks along trails that offer some of the best bird watching opportunities in the Tualatin Valley during this active season. Please leave Fido at home, though, as many nature parks and wildlife preserves do not allow pets.

The city of Beaverton, a booming food scene in its own right, was home to the first permanent food cart pod in Tualatin Valley and it has paved the way for others, including in downtown Hillsboro and Forest Grove. FALL FOLIAGE LEAF PEEPING For a front row seat to nature’s everchanging beauty, take a ride along the Vineyard and Valley Scenic Tour Route, a 60-mile driving route through the Tualatin Valley’s peaceful rural areas. The route provides the perfect views for watching the seasons change from one to the next. Find panoramic views at local vineyards whose vines are hanging on to the post-harvest yellows and reds before gracefully lying bare for the winter months.
