After Taft, Caleb spent three years working with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources in Horicon Marsh, where he got hooked onto birding as a major hobby. Caleb came back downstream to Oregon in October and now lives with his wife in Mount Morris. In addition to birds, Caleb enjoys distance running and photographing any number of small animals, he is rarely without his camera or binoculars and always watching to see what flies by.

Nick McPhail joins us in the Parks Department as a Park Laborer. Nick lives in Grand Detour with his fiancé and together they have four children. Nick is originally from the area and is now raising his family in his childhood home in Grand Detour. Catch the Wave Swim Cub structures the program to provide much more than just swimming lessons. Our curriculum, teacher training, evaluation system, and parent communication are all designed to provide a total Aquatic Education. Our primary technique to achieve water safety is to teach all students to comfortably live in the water. When a student truly learns to live in the water, the strokes come easily. We find that when a child enjoys the lessons, the more successful the learning process is. Therefore, our priority is to create a happy atmosphere.
