Dear Residents,

With the transition to fall, be on the lookout for a participant survey as staff wraps up summer programming.

We pride ourselves on gathering input from our users to use the feedback to identify areas of improvement.

Along with the planning and execution of the programs and events included in this brochure, the Oregon Park District has completed $985,025 in capital improvements over the past fiscal year. These improvements are identified by staff as part of a capital improvement plan to ensure we are taking care of existing infrastructure. Community input continues to identify our need to take care of the amenities we have so proudly provided to our community since 1966. Capital planning allows the District to improve the quality of life for our residents, provides an opportunity for community growth and ensures the District stays fiscally healthy. Staff utilizes a 5-year rolling capital plan to stay on course and meet District needs. We will begin to review next years proposed projects in the coming months and look forward to the continued improvement of park property and facilities.

Fall is right around the corner and the Oregon Park District staff is excited to unveil a thrilling slate of programs for all ages. With reduced programming the past 18 months due to the ongoing pandemic, we are eager to bring back community favorites along with many new programs. This fall will also bring expanded facility hours beginning on October 4, so be sure to check out page 6 to view our new facility hours!

One of the most recently completed improvements identified within our rolling capital plan was renovations to our locker rooms, spa, pool, and mechanicals. The District just completed these major renovations and staff has done an amazing job overseeing the enhancements. I encourage you to check out our Aquatic information beginning on page 8 and the upgrades during your next visit to Nash.

During the past 6 months, the District has spent a significant amount of time working with community leaders from Ogle County to attempt to pass legislation in favor of keeping the Byron Nuclear Station open.

Byron Nuclear Plant provides over $38 million in tax revenue to taxing bodies within Ogle County and is a community contributor in many other capacities. The Oregon Park District is one of the taxing bodies that benefits from Byron Nuclear Station. If you’re interested in assisting the District in pushing for clean energy legislation and keeping Byron Nuclear Station open, contact me at erin@oregonpark.org or at (815) 732-3101.

Safety of our community has been and will continue to be one of our top priorities. The Oregon Park District continues to follow guidance provided by the IDPH and all COVID restrictions will continue to be enforced by staff. ACTIVITY GUIDE RELEASE Digital activity guides are released each year. Print versions are also available by request at the front counter at Nash Recreation Center. A full updated guide can always be found by visiting the district’s website: www.oregonpark.org.

SIBLING DISCOUNT *FOR SELECT PROGRAMS The Oregon Park District offers a sibling discount of 10% for select programs for each additional child enrolled in a program where one child has already enrolled at full price in the same session. Registration for all siblings must take place at Nash or by phone at the same time in order to receive the discount, if applicable. All family members must be in the same account to qualify.

OPD FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE The Oregon Park District provides financial assistance in several forms to help families or individuals that are in financial difficulty with program fees, preschool tuition, Extended Time program and Camp Oh-Pea-Dee. Funds are provided through employee-driven fundraising and generous donations through the A. Charles and Lillemor Lawrence Foundation. Applications are available online and at Nash Recreation Center, 304 S. 5th Street, Oregon. For more information or questions contact Alyssa at alyssa@oregonpark. org. Funds are available for anyone residing within the Oregon School District boundaries.

Did you know you can register online with the Oregon Park District? Since July of 2019, the District has been able to offer simple and efficient online registration for you and your family, using our Recreation software, Perfect Mind. With Perfect Mind, users can update account information, register for an activity or event, or reserve a shelter or Nash Recreation Center room from anywhere with an internet connection.

If you are new to the Oregon Park District, you can create an account in a few short steps! Already have an account with your primary email address? Please make sure to select ‘Forgot your password’ to re-establish your account. Once you’re logged in, you can complete a registration, view your attendance history and future schedule, update your payment information, and so much more! The registration system offers a user-friendly interface, simple navigation, and customizable features to best serve our community.

Party times are available during all open swim hours. Please see the pool schedule for specific times.

Reservations are required at least 2 weeks in advance.

When making a reservation, please have an approximate number attending for room set up. Set-up time of 15 minutes prior to the reservation time is allowed for decorating. Refunds will only be considered only if notice is given 10 days in advance.

The Gymnasium features two full basketball courts. Each side must be reserved individually. Water only is allowed in the gym.

Celebrate your event with the Nash Recreation Center pool or facility all to yourself! These parties occur after the facility has been closed to the general public and pass holders. This is a perfect location for youth group, sports teams or school after hours event. For more information or to make a private reservation, contact Alyssa at (815) 732-3101 or alyssa@oregonpark. org. Private rentals must be booked at least 4 weeks in advance.

AUTOMATIC MONTHLY PAYMENT

A Nash Recreation Center pass or daily fee allows patrons to use the pool and whirlpool, gym, TRX room, and Fitness Center.

This is a convenient way to pay for your pass and select programs.

The automatic debit monthly fees are shown below. With your permission, automatic credit card charges will be made each month. The first amount is the initial payment that will be made when registering, followed by the amount of 11 equal payments charged each month.

RAQUETBALL & WALLEYBALL Racquetball court rental is included in the annual pass fee and is $3.00/hour for non-annual pass holders. Wallyball court rental is $5.00/hour.

NASH FITNESS CENTER The Nash Fitness Center is over 6,000 square feet and features a three lane rubberized track that surrounds our CYBEX strength training machines, free weights, and cardiovascular equipment.

Fitness Center staff is available to set up an orientation for any and all users looking to begin a fitness routine.

TRX ROOM A new addition to the facility includes our TRX room featuring 800 square feet of alternative fitness equipment. Room features 6 TRX stations, kettlebells, weighted ropes, yoga mats, dumbells, tire flip, punching bag, spin bikes, rower, elliptical, air assault treadmill and stairmill.

LOCKERS The Oregon Park District has lockers available for rental to annual pass holders for the term of the pass. The cost is $65 for residents and $80 for non-residents.

3 PAY PAYMENT PLAN Your annual pass is paid off in three equal consecutive payments!

The pass fee is paid for the first three months, and is only available on annual passes.

AGE RESTRICTIONS Children under the age of 5 are welcome to use the gym and pool area free of charge. Anyone 3rd grade or younger must be accompanied by a parent or responsible person, Junior High aged or older in the facility. Participants must be 7th grade or older to use the Nash Fitness Center and 9th grade or older to use the free weights.

NASH RECREATION CENTER POOL

LAP SWIM

The Nash pool features stairs to a 3-foot bay area attached to a 25 meter 6 lane pool. The deepest area is 10 feet. The pool is equipped with a handicap chair lift to assist patrons in and out of the pool. After your workout, you can enjoy the 13-person hot tub with both high and low jets.

Six lap lanes will be available for swimmers 7th grade or older. Swimming 32 laps is a one mile workout.

HOT TUB HOURS The hot tub is available for use during Lap Swim, Open Swim, Water Aerobics, and Twinges classes. You must be at least 16 years old to use the hot tub. The hot tub is equipped with a handicap chair lift to assist patrons in and out of the hot tub.

OPEN SWIM All areas of the pool are open for use, including our diving board and basketball hoop. Pool toys are allowed in the pool at the discretion of the aquatic staff.

Deep Water Aerobics is a more intense workout than your typical water aerobics class. Working out in the deep end will allow you to get a cardiovascular workout without the impact. You will also increase your endurance, flexibility and strength. Participants do not need to know how to swim.

An aqua jogger belt will be provided.

TWINGES-AGES 18+ Let the natural buoyancy and resistance of the water help you improve your joint strength and flexibility along with improving cardiovascular endurance while walking and jogging in the shallow end. Participants do not need to know how to swim.

WATER AEROBICS-AGES 18+ Exercise your entire body without putting stress on your back and joints. This class will work on toning, cardiovascular strength, endurance, and flexibility. All levels can participate, and participants can tailor exercises to their ability.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE-AGES 18+ Are you ready for some volleyball this fall? This league is played on Thursday nights and is open to all women who are at least 18 years old and out of High School. This is a great opportunity for all skill levels to exercise and have fun with friends and others from surrounding communities. A tournament will be played at the end of the regular season and championship t-shirts will be awarded to the winners. Mandatory captains meeting will be held on 10/14 at 6pm at Nash Recreation Center. *No games 11/25

PICKLEBALL OPEN GYM-AGES 18+ Pickleball is often described as a mixture of ping-pong, tennis, and badminton, all played on a mini tennis court with an oversized paddle and a ball similar to a wiffle ball. This game is fast, fun, and addictive and can be played by people of all athletic abilities! Drop in at your own lesisure and enjoy this wonderful sport. HOLIDAY PICKLEBALL TOURNAMENT-AGES 18+ Come and play in our Holiday Pickleball Tournament! This tournament will be a round robin style. Teams will be made up of male, female, or co-ed, and you will have a new partner each round. Players need not sign up as a team, and this round robin style is designed to even the playing field for all! Nash does have a limited number of paddles that are available to play with.

Staff engages students in both recreational and educational activities that encourage teamwork, self-confidence and fun. Located at the Blackhawk Center, children can walk to school in the morning and straight over after school. The daily afternoon schedule includes time for snack, homework, themed projects, as well as physical activity.

REFUND POLICY

To withdraw a child from Extended Time, a refund request must be submitted online. A full refund, less the $5 administrative fee, will be granted if the application for refund is filed by the 25th of the month prior, also known as the Extended Time registration deadline. Refunds will not be granted after the 25th of the month prior unless due to a medical note or emergency. All refunds are subject to the program coordinator’s approval. A full refund will be issued if the Park District cancels a scheduled day.

Halloween StoryWalk Trail The Park District invites families to join us this year for an outdoor Halloween event at Park West. Enjoy the StoryWalk Trail, reading The 13 Nights of Halloween, and participating in a few activities between pages. Then, families will ride through the prairie for kids to pick out a pumpkin to take home. You are welcome to wear your costume and get your family photo taken. Dress for outdoor weather. Although this is a free event, each child ages 3-12 must be registered. The trail and playground are accessible.

Letters to Santa Do you have a wish list or story to tell Santa Claus? Write a letter to Jolly Old St. Nicholas and tell him about yourself and if you have been naughty or nice. Santa's elves will be installing a mailbox at Nash for your letter to be mailed. Be sure to enclose a postage stamp and your return address! Letters can be mailed beginning November 13 through December 13.

Rock River Blood Center Blood Drive Give back this year by joining us in donating blood on December 13th with the Rock River Blood Center in the River Room at Nash. Your donation can save up to 3 lives and you’re sure to get that amazing feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction for helping.

Help us find Santa & Mrs. Claus. They are hiding somewhere in Oregon. Register your family for a time slot. Gather the kids, hop in the car and follow the clues to Santa & Mrs. Claus. Once there, children will have a few minutes to talk to Santa and we will snap the annual family photo. This will be at an indoor location. Fee is per family/car. Let us know how many kids will be in the car as each child will receive a goody bag which will include supplies to make an ornament for their tree. Per Santa's choice, some of the proceeds will benefit the Pinecrest Good Samaritan Program.

Howl'oween Canine Costume Contest Monday, October 18 Deadline: October, 11 Time: 5:30-7:00 pm Location: Park West Wiggly Field Dog Park Fee: $5/$6 NR per household Code: 2134-01

All dog lovers are invited to the 10th Annual Howl'oween Canine Costume Contest.

Bring your pooch to the park and participate in the doggie parade at 5:30 p.m. dressed in their Halloween costume. Judging will follow with awards to the winning canines but all participating pooches will receive a Howl'oween Treat! Categories include: Best Purchased Costume, Best Homemade Costumes and Best Group Costume (multiple dogs or pet/owner). All dogs must be well behaved, on 6' leash or shorter, costumes must be family friendly and if non Wiggly Field Members, must show proof of Rabies vaccination. Fee is per household.

WIGGLY FIELD DOG PARK - PASSES VALID JAN 1 - DEC 31

Officially opened in July 2012, Wiggly Field Dog Park is the first off-leash dog park operated by the Oregon Park District. The dog park is a 1 acre fenced off-leash area with two separate entrances and exits for safety.

The first area is an open running area and the second is an agility training area. The park offers water fountains for people and dogs. Wiggly Field off-leash dog park is open seven days a week from dawn until dusk. Agility equipment will be removed during the winter months and brought back in the spring. We ask all owners to have fun but be responsible. All users and dogs must have a permit. Please stop by Nash Recreation Center to get your permit. Proof of rabies vaccination is required upon registering. A $20 Key Fob deposit is collected for all first-time users. The deposit is a one-time fee and will be refunded if the user chooses not to renew the membership. To receive a refund, users must complete a Refund Request online and return their fob to Nash Recreation Center.

The Park District offers a free blood pressure and heart rate monitor in our Fitness Center. It is a fully automatic self-attended monitor. Be heart-healthy and happy! Know your blood pressure!

The Oregon Park District believes that every child should have an opportunity to participate in recreational programs regardless of financial hardship.

The Oregon Park District offers scholarships to all OCUSD students for reduced program rates according to financial need. Application forms are available at Nash Recreation Center or online at www.oregonpark. org. Applicants for scholarships are not guaranteed program registration or choice of program location.

Scholarship fund availability cannot be guaranteed.

AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT The Oregon Park District is happy to comply with the spirit of the Americans with Disabilities Act. If you need special accommodations (such as an interpreter or physical assistance), please call the Oregon Park District (TDD or Voice) two weeks in advance so that we may make the necessary arrangements for you.

LOST & FOUND Lost and found articles are kept a maximum of 30 days and then donated to charitable organizations.

If you think you or a family member may have lost something in one of our parks or facilities, please call or visit Nash Recreation Center.

PHOTO POLICY The Oregon Park District and/or professional photographers under contract may videotape or take photographs of participants in Park District activities, classes, programs, or parks. These photographs and videotapes are used for future recreation guides, brochures, Facebook and other marketing materials.

GIFT CARDS Gift Cards are available for memberships, activities, and more! For more information call (815)732-3101.

MEMORIAL TREE Donate a tree in memory of a loved one. You can choose the type of tree and park location. Contact the Park District for more information about this program.

NIGHT FISHING PERMITS You can now fish at night in Oregon Park District parks by purchasing a required Night Fishing Permit. To purchase a permit, please call Nash Recreation Center (815)732-3101. Permits are $20.00 and are valid through the end of the calendar year.

MILITARY POLICY Military home on active duty, their resident family members during military tours and wounded warriors will have access to Nash Recreation Center at no charge. Proof of military status must be provided.
