Dr. Amanda Quist, Treble Choir Conductor

Dr. Amanda Quist is Associate Professor and Chair of the Conducting, Organ, and Sacred Music Department at Westminster Choir College . She conducts the Westminster Chapel Choir and Westminster Kantorei, and teaches graduate and undergraduate conducting She is the recipient of Westminster Choir College of Rider University’s 2014 Distinguished Teaching Award Westminster Kantorei, an award-winning early music ensemble, will perform at the American Choral Directors Association’s (ACDA) Eastern Division Conference Kantorei recently performed at the American Handel Festival, Boston Early Music Festival, and just completed its first commercial recording.

During her work with the Westminster Symphonic Choir, Dr Quist collaborated with the New York Philharmonic, The Philadelphia Orchestra, Dresden Staatskapelle, and composers Ola Gjeilo and Tarik O’Regan . She recently served as Chorus Master for the premiere of Toshio Hosokawa’s opera Matsukaze at the Spoleto Festival USA and the Lincoln Center Festival The New York Times and Charleston City Paper described the chorus’ performance as “beautifully prepared, gripping,” a “gossamer web of voices” and “bridging the vocal and instrumental textures with perfect intonation .”

Dr Quist is also director of the Westminster Vocal Institute, a highly regarded summer program for talented high school students, and she was previously Director of Choral Activities at San José State University. Her other honors include the prestigious James Mulholland National Choral Award and the Audrey Davidson Early Music Award Her research focus is voice science and pedagogy in choral singing She recently presented an interest session for the National ACDA Conference in Salt Lake City titled “Building Sound and Spirit .” An active guest conductor and clinician, her recent and upcoming appearances include the All State High School Honor Choirs of Texas, California, Tennessee, Vermont, Georgia, and Delaware Dr Quist serves as the National ACDA Repertoire & Resources Coordinator for Collegiate Activities, and has a choral series published through Walton Music .

Jennifer Kercher, Treble Choir Co-Manager

Jennifer Kercher is the Choir Director at North Salem High School Prior to teaching at North, Jennifer taught choir at Silverton High School, Mark Twain Middle School, and Crossler Middle School

Over the past fifteen years, her choirs have toured locally and nationally and received high honors at competitions A Silverton native, Jennifer completed her undergraduate work at Western Oregon University and her graduate work at George Fox University Jennifer, alongside her husband and two children, is also involved in Salem’s Pentacle Theatre, both performing on-stage and vocal-directing .

Jenna Hernandez, Tenor Choir Co-Manager

Jenna Hernandez, a Texas native, is in her first year of teaching at South Salem High School and Sprague High School Prior to teaching in Salem, she attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas where she earned her Bachelor of Music Education degree with an emphasis in voice (Cum Laude) . While at Baylor she was a four year member of the university’s flagship ensembles as well as the student conducting intern for the Youth Chorus of Central Texas . She studied choral music and conducting with Dr. Lynne Gackle, Dr Stephen Gusukuma, and Dr Michelle Henry Over the course of her studies at Baylor she received the ACDA National Student Award, the Baylor University Outstanding Music Educator Award, and the TMEA Collegiate Music Educator of Excellence Award In addition to work at Baylor, Miss Hernandez participated in summer chamber music programs through the Yale Norfolk Chamber Music Festival and the Westminster Choir College Summer Choral Music Festival
