Paul Broomhead, Tenor/Bass Choir Conductor

Paul Broomhead received a PhD in Music Education from the University of Washington in 1999 He has taught Jr High and High School choir and general music and now teaches collegiate music education He has served as co-editor and contributing author for the books “Arts Education and Literacies” and “(Re)Imagining Content-Area Literacy Instruction ” He has published a broad assortment of research and opinion articles in the Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy, Music Educators Journal, Journal of Research in Music Education, Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, Journal of Music Teacher Education, Teaching Music, Update, Contributions to Music Education, Reading Psychology, Teacher Development He has served the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) as national Chair of the Instructional Strategies SRIG and as Collegiate Chair for the Western Division In Utah, he served as Higher Education Vice President of Utah Music Educators Association

Dr Broomhead has been an active adjudicator, presenter and guest conductor in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Washington and at national conventions such as Music Educators National Conference, American Association of Higher Education, American Educator’s Research Association, Literacy Research Association

(National Reading Conference), and College Reading Association He is advisor to the BYU chapter of Collegiate National Association for Music Education . His teaching responsibilities include Teacher Education oriented classes at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, such as Exploration of Teaching, Student Teaching Seminar, Philosophy of Music, Music Education Research, and Score Preparation/Conducting Still an educator at heart, Dr Broomhead’s favorite teaching assignment is to conduct an un-auditioned choir of some 150 students in the BYU Evening School

Matthew Fletcher, Tenor/Bass Choir Co-Manager

Matthew Fletcher lives in Newberg, Oregon, where he has a blast teaching the choirs at Newberg High School This year he is also teaching a choir at Chehalem Valley Middle School, and he previously taught choir and drama in Nyssa Oregon

Matthew attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education He is currently completing a Master’s Degree at Central Washington University.

The most important part of Matthew’s life is the time he spends with his wife and three crazy children . He also likes musical theater, singing in solfege, playing basketball and video games, and making music with anyone willing to play or sing with him

Jesse Logan Dreher, Tenor/Bass Choir Manager

Jesse L . Dreher lives in Salem, Oregon, and for the past ten years has taught choir, private voice, piano, and guitar, at the elementary, middle, and high school levels Currently, he teaches choir, piano, and guitar classes at Waldo Middle School

Jesse has a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Vanguard University of Southern California and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Oregon State University Since earning his degrees, he has taken additional courses, summer workshops, and choral conducting symposiums .

In his spare time, Jesse enjoys going on walks with his fiancée, exploring wilderness, composing choral music, leading worship, writing songs, and gigging with the Portland area Americana rock band, Shoring For a side project, he is producing and recording an album for his church in Salem, Oregon
