Ladies 9 Hole Golf Group The Ladies 9-Hole Golf Group held their annual Christmas tournament and luncheon on Wednesday, December 6. The “Flag Day” tournament was won by Jenifer Ramseur. Twentyone ladies attended the luncheon. The HWGA held their Christmas luncheon on December 12, 2017. There was lots of good food and holiday cheer! Thanks to the member's generous donations, the children at a local elementary school will have many needed gifts under their Christmas tree.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Have you made your New Year's Resolution yet? If you have made one – have you broken it yet? Well here is one for you that you won't want to break! Start your year off right with coming to the Houndslake Garden Club meetings. Our meetings are the third Friday of every month September through May at 10:30 in the morning in the Dogwood Room of the Houndslake Club House, unless we have a special outing somewhere close. If you are interested in your property looking good whether you do it yourself or have it done, we are the ones to help you learn new things about plants and flowers. Our first meeting of the year will be January 19th at 10:30 in the Dogwood Room. Our guest speaker will be Fred Wieland, a local expert on Bonsai Plants. He will show us some of his Bonsai Plants that he has trained and tell us what is required to create a bonsai plant, and how to take care of them. Since I know Fred well, I can tell you it will be a very interesting meeting. Come join us for a sample meeting; we'd love to have you. 2017 Golf Course of the Year! We hope everyone enjoyed the Member Appreciation Christmas Party. We were happy to see how many people came out to enjoy the evening. Everything from the Pro Shop Wine and Cheese drop in to the special Christmas party with desserts and dancing, was well attended. It was nice to see so many people celebrating the holiday season together. Thank you all for coming! On behalf of the entire staff, let me say that we are looking forward to a fantastic year with you, your family and friends at Houndslake. We have a great membership with wonderful people. As an example, I would like to recognize the Garden Club for their volunteer work decorating the Club for the holidays. Further, I would like to express my personal appreciation to our members and the staff for all of the support. Together we have created an atmosphere of activity and entertainment and continue to attract incredible new members. When you play the golf course in the coming months, you will notice improvements and projects being made to enhance the look and feel of the course. We would love to see the course filled throughout the year with more players. We continue to make Houndslake more attractive to gain new members. We really need your help in promoting what Houndslake is all about – an affordable, active club where family and friends can be together. As you talk to others about the club, tell them we have a membership that meets their individual needs. Please read our Membership information and help us/you grow YOUR Club! Longer days will be here before we know it, which means the golf season is almost upon us. I hope that everyone is excited about playing more golf this year. The golf staff is working hard in preparation for member tournaments and corporate outings. As you know, corporate outings are an important revenue stream for the Club. If you or someone you know is part of an organization or fundraiser and is interested in a golf outing, contact the Pro Shop @ (803) 648-3333 to schedule events. I hope that you are taking full advantage of the facilities and all of the activities offered. As you spend time at the club, the staff and management welcome any feedback you may have on not only the facilities, but the services that you enjoy every day.
