Welcome to Freighters Freighters is the new destination for all your special events with menus created by our Corporate Executive Chef. Enjoy the serene view underneath the historic Blue Water Bridge while enjoying all Freighters has to offer. The Blue Water Bridge opened to traffic on October 10, 1938 and is a major international crossing over the St. Clair River at the southern end of Lake Huron. Located between Port Huron, Michigan and Point Edward, Ontario it is one of the fastest links between the Midwest and Ontario as well as the Northeast United States. About Us Freighters is operated by Meritage Hospitality Group, headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This premiere restaurant group also operates the Michigan-based casual dining concepts Twisted Rooster and Crooked Goose as well as Wendy’s franchises throughout the country.
