Ercol | Orangebox Brochure

Page 1

The Orangebox | Ercol collaboration is a contemporary collection of 7 beautifully crafted archive designs manufactured in Britain. Designed by Lucian R. Ercolani between 1955 and 1960, the collection represents the very best in form and function. Chosen from an archive which has a unique place in British design and manufacturing history, each piece is a fine example of where craft, engineering and aesthetics are perfectly combined. This collection of mid-century archive designs has stood the test of time and cannot be improved, they hold a true place in heritage British design.

Using traditional methods of furniture making, the handcrafted collection is produced by Ercol from European FSC™ timber in Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire - the upholstery is manufactured 100 miles away in Nantgarw, Wales by Orangebox.

A mindful curation of classic design, craft-based production and material responsibility.

Known as the draftsman’s stool, the 441 was originally designed and made exclusively for Ercol’s in-house design team. The trademark wedge and tenon construction has a pared-back aesthetic and is beautifully proportioned. The delicate shape of the carved seat makes for maximum comfort – fit for the modern-day workspace. Until now this stool has never been in production, a true Ercol classic which Orangebox are proud to release to the contract market.
