FELDER FIGHTS FOR BETTER EDUCATION

STOP THE HATE

Senator Felder demands independent monitors at all institutions receiving city, state, or federal funding

“The complete antipathy toward rising antisemitic incidents and the abject failure of college administrators to provide safety on their campuses is deeply concerning. By having independent oversight, we can take concrete steps to safeguard our students by preventing the dangerous influence of terrorist organizations like Hamas, and its proxies, in our educational institutions.”

FELDER: BRING SAFETY & SECURITY BACK

It used to be common knowledge that the NYPD protected people and property by preventing crime and arresting criminals. But over the last 10 years, the city has chipped away the authority of the police, giving criminals a free pass while law-abiding citizens suffer the consequences.

Members of the NYPD know that they will work in dangerous, volatile situations, yet they have chosen to run in, when everybody else would choose to run out. According to the most recent U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, police officers are 4 times more likely to be killed and 16 times more likely to be violently injured while doing their job than an average person is. They show up to restore order, get criminals off the street and ensure public safety, and most importantly to see that justice is served. I admit, I could not do their job and I am incredibly grateful for the good people who do; we should all be concerned that in the current atmosphere far fewer are choosing to.

There is no moral justification for forcing police officers to throw their hands up when criminals resist arrest or lash out in assault or harassment. Police work requires split-second decisions under extreme stress and there can be zero tolerance for resisting, assaulting or harassing police officers.

When the last of the good men and women are finally discouraged from entering or staying in law enforcement, who will be left? Everyone must raise their voice to support law and order, fight to fully fund the police academy and give our NYPD the full backing of the law.

SAVING LIVES

In an emergency, when every second counts, we often can’t

“Keeping you and your loved safe and healthy is my priority. In an emergency, when every second counts, we often can’t think clearly. The challenge is even greater for caretakers, babysitters and guests who may be unfamiliar with the address. Be sure to post emergency numbers with your full address where everyone can see it in case of an emergency.”

Together with community partners, I have worked to distribute thousands of signs and refrigerator magnets like this one from MET Council with emergency numbers and space for your address and conact number.

To request a lifesaving magnet, call my office at 718-253-2015 or email felder@nysenate.gov
