Staff Architect Facilities Executive Director of Operations
Job Summary Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Operations, the Staff Architect supports the mission of OPSB. The position is responsible for 1) ensuring that projects (internal and those being managed by contract project managers) are designed within approved budget parameters 2) preparing the final design estimate of construction cost 3) checking shop drawings and 4) performing periodic construction inspections for conformance with construction documents. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Staff Architect will be responsible for the following duties: •

Coordinate project design and construction elements with user groups, other affected OSPB departments, non-OSPB agencies and the public; meet with OSPB personnel as necessary on capital construction projects and studies to assure needs are being met by proposed designs and specifications; prepare informational materials and makes related presentations to OSPB staff; elected officials and public groups; act as liaison between end users, OSPB staff and contractors on OSPB projects. Ensure that eligible capital projects are aligned to Federal, State and applicable local requirements and that all capital projects are eligible for funding, and are in conformance with, proper procurement and contracting Assure effective communication among consultants, contractors, department heads and others; communicate project status and issues to staff and other affected groups in a timely and accurate fashion. Provide written and verbal reports, updates and project status on a regular basis to affected parties. Establish and maintain project files; make sure project information is transferred to permanent file upon completion of work. Conduct plan review for OSPB projects; perform regular inspections of construction projects to ensure compliance with plans and specifications, including safety requirements and other applicable standards; check appropriateness of materials and methods used in construction. Control project costs; monitor budgets and payments to consultants and contractors; establish anticipated cash flow for larger projects.
