Dear Friends, I welcome you to the City of Stamford. I moved to this City nearly four decades ago and found it to be incredibly accepting and full of active community leaders and businesses. Stamford has grown since I moved here, and it continues to be a wonderful place, thanks to residents like you who make Stamford great. Our City is one of the most diverse communities in the country and you can see that in the shops and businesses around town. We have a melting pot of cultures, cuisines, generations and languages represented across the City — and especially in Downtown. I hope you’ll enjoy the numerous recreation events available to Stamford residents, including our scenic parks, incredible performing arts venues and the diverse dining selection in Stamford’s Downtown. Some of my favorite events throughout the year include Alive@Five, a summer concert series hosted by Stamford’s Downtown Special Services District, as well as ARTWALK, Bark in the Park and the Stamford Downtown Parade Spectacular. There is always something to do in Stamford, and we’re always looking for new partners to strengthen our community. Our City’s strong sense of community is part of the reason why Stamford is the safest city in New England, and why Stamford’s downtown is one of the most highly sought after business and residential markets in the region. Our downtown encompasses 10 million square feet of office space, nearly 2 million square feet of retail space and a rapidly expanding residential neighborhood with more than 5,000 apartments and condominiums. UConn Stamford’s downtown campus has grown rapidly in recent years, increasing the flow of young people in our City. We’re happy to attract all types of people to our community and see them live, work and play in Stamford. I encourage you to use the resources provided by the Stamford Downtown Directory (also available on their website). They provide valuable tools for residents and visitors to find all the information they need about Stamford’s downtown.
