OPRF HUSKIES HOCKEY Dear OPRF Huskies Hockey CommunityWe hope you enjoy our 2020-2021 OPRF Huskies Hockey Club Yearbook. This project was a collaborative effort requiring the support from our players, their families and the community at large. This year has obviously presented many challenges, both on and off the ice. We should be proud of how our student athletes have responded to the adversity brought on by the global pandemic. We would like to thank our club volunteers who continue to support our players, coaches and community partners. Our club, being a volunteer-run organization, relies on membership participation to make the OPRFHC a success. Thank you for your time commitment and dedication! A special thank you to our advertisers for their contributions to this Ad Book which provides financial support for the hockey program. Please keep these businesses in mind when you find a need for their services or products. While this year has presented challenges for the board, players and families, it has also presented challenges for our coaching staff who remain dedicated to instilling the values of hard work, team play, sportsmanship and accountability. We would like to thank them for their efforts and we all look forward to being back on the ice. Finally, a special thank you to Jason Clary and Magda Piper for their work in creating this yearbook. It will be a keepsake for our players, their families and especially our seniors, for a year we would all rather forget! We look forward to the future when we can watch our OPRF Huskies on the ice and cheer from the stands. Go Huskies! The OPRF Huskies Hockey Club Board

THE BOLIN-COOPER SCHOLARSHIP

Brett Johnson - Class of 2020

Gone, yet not forgotten. The Bolin-Cooper scholarship honors the memory of former Hockey Club players Kevin Bolin, who died in 2001, and John Cooper, who died in 1979. The fund offers renewable, four-year scholarships to graduating seniors on the Huskies Hockey team who exhibit leadership, strong work ethic, and commitment to the game of hockey — qualities exemplified by the scholarship’s name sakes. Eligible seniors will have played for the club at least two years.

Coach Michael O’Rourke VARSIT Y COACH

Coach Pat O’Rourke has been coaching and playing hockey in Illinois for over 25 years and this is his inaugural season as Varsity Head Coach for Huskies Hockey. “As a coach, leader, and role model I hold myself to the highest standards of operating with integrity and respect at all times. I share my expectations with players and parents that we will remain focused on playing the game with respect, learning from our mistakes, and with a healthy level of competition.” As a player, Pat grew up playing hockey in south suburbs of Chicago playing for travel programs at the AA level. In high school, Pat competed in the Central States Development Hockey League (CSDHL) where he was awarded the CSDHL Scholarship for outstanding performance on the ice and excellent academic standing. Pat also served as a captain for the Lincoln-Way East High School team where he set the Illinois State record for most points scored in a season (121 points). Pat’s passion for coaching began as volunteer junior coach helping teach learn to skate lessons and helping run skill development clinics at Mite/Squirt/Pee Wee levels throughout high school. Pat officially joined the coaching ranks after graduating high school and through the years he has led private lessons, high school varsity and AAA hockey teams. Pat has achieved his level 4 USA Hockey certification.

R E G N U H S K C E HOCKEY CH OPRF HUSKIES HOCKEY CLUB HAS HEART We are not just a team building our hockey skills and playing games, we are learning how to take an active role in our community to make a differance. A big part of our culture is giving back to our community in a way that we are active participants. For the past seven years the Oak Park River Forest High School Hockey Club (Huskies) and the Park District of Oak Park’s Ice Bears Hockey have been joining together to collect donations for the Beyond Hunger in an effort to help fight hunger in the Oak Park and River Forest communities. This past summer, due to the pandemic, OPRF Hockey wasn’t sure they were going to be able to pull off their annual food drive. Instead, Huskies players and families were challenged to a Summer Fitness Challenge, which included completing a 5K and 100 each pushups, squats and crunches. On May 16th, because of social-distancing protocols, the Huskies players coaches, and a few family members completed this challange individually and raised over $16,000 for Beyond Hunger. The food drive isn’t a one and done for the Huskies. The JV and Varsity volunteer on a weekly basis (even during Covid) to continue their volunteer efforts throughout the season. As a club, in 2020, they put in close to 50 hours. If you would like to donate to hungry families or volunteer for the holidays and all year long, go to gobeyondhunger.org
