This Book of Abstracts from the inaugural Teaching Excellence symposium at Otago Polytechnic Te Pūkenga, June 2023, provides a guide to presentations on five key themes, drawn from research by Dr Claire Goode (2021), in which she explored the trajectories and professional practice of Tertiary Teaching Excellence awardees.
The five themes are:
- Building relationships (relationships with learners, colleagues, industry and networks)
- Focusing on learners (engaging, empowering and encouraging learners)
- Facilitating learning (sharing stories, co-constructing knowledge, and crafting facilitation skills)
- Creating the right environment (making learning enjoyable, enabling learners to feel valued and safe)
- Reflecting on practice (taking risks, staying current, and being authentic).
