Foreword

Christmas Special 2020 Dear friends and collectors, Late this year but yet a few days before Christmas: our Christmas Special 2020! With almost 90 objects the present catalogue contains a wide range of arts and antiques from Burma, Laos and Thailand. Beside rare and beautiful Burmese weights, which conclude the catalogue, we offer right on the first pages impressive antique Buddha statues from Burma, Laos and Thailand, made of bronze, wood and lacquer. A few early pieces of Burmese lacquerware from Bagan and the Shan states follow in the second section. In sections III and IV we offer various attractive bronze objects as well as superb silver jewellery from Burma, Laos and the Golden Triangle. From our manuscript collection we added in part V two old Sinhalese palm leaf manuscripts as well as three Zata horoscopes from Burma. The last part of the catalogue belongs to the weights. Also this year we were very lucky and got a few exceptional rare weights of the Burmese empires and the Shan states. If you are looking for an item, which has been already sold, please send us your inquiry by e-mail. Possibly we have similar objects in stock. For our entire world 2020 was not a year like any other. Therefore, especially this time, we are sending our sincere thanks to all our friends and customers for your interest in our gallery and your continued support that made, beside of all the difficulties, also this year a successful one. Please enjoy our Christmas Special. Wishing all of you a peaceful Christmas season and health and happiness throughout the coming year, Michael Herrfurth
