Program Type Overview:

Adventure Camp (K-4th) – A traditional day camp experience filled with hands-on activities, exploration, and fun with rotating specialists in arts, STEM, nature, music, and sports.

Adventure Explorers (5th-7th) – A field-trip-based camp where campers venture offcampus daily to explore exciting locations, engage in new activities, and build essential life skills.

Innovations Camp (K-8th) – A hands-on, interest-based camp where campers choose two specialized classes per week in STEM, arts, and games to fuel creativity and curiosity.

Kick off an unforgettable summer with Hello Summer!, a joyful and exciting four-day adventure that introduces campers to the magic of our camp. Through fun activities, team challenges, and the captivating legend of SkyCat, campers will explore the virtues of kindness, respect, inclusivity, and responsibility while making new friends and diving into the creative world of our camp specialists in STEM, Nature, Arts & Crafts, and Play The week culminates in the thrilling SkyCat Wing Ceremony, where campers celebrate their accomplishments and leap into summer fun together. Let’s start the summer soaring high! ��✨

Pirates vs. Ninjas ��

Ahoy, mateys! Or are you more of a stealthy ninja? This action-packed week pits the swashbuckling skills of pirates against the sneaky moves of ninjas! Campers will embark on daring treasure hunts, test their agility in ninja obstacle courses, and craft pirate swords or ninja stars in arts and crafts. But beware the Cunning Crows are lurking! These mischievous birds have something sneaky up their feathers, and it’s up to our brave pirates and ninjas to outwit them. Whether you're setting sail for adventure or disappearing in a puff of smoke, this week is all about teamwork, creativity, and good old-fashioned fun! Who will reign supreme Pirates or Ninjas? ��

The Big Splash ��☀

Get ready to make a splash in the most refreshing week of camp! Sponge Tosses, relay races, and what's that we see.. Is that a dunk tank?! This week will keep campers cool and giggling all day long. From building boats in STEM to creating underwater-themed art, every activity celebrates the joy of summer Campers will also team up for a thrilling water relay challenge that’s sure to soak the competition! The grand finale? A water play day extravaganza campers will talk about all year! Dive into a week of sun, fun, and soaking-wet smiles!

Adventure Camp

Week 4: July 21st - July 25th

Turbo Track Takeover ����

Ready, set, go! Campers will speed into this high-energy week with racing-themed games, creativity, and engineering challenges. From designing their own race cars to zipping through relay races on the field, every day is full of excitement The highlight of the week? Campers will create custom race cars for their counselors to compete in the first annual OWS Kart Races! Whether you're a car enthusiast or just love the thrill of the race, this week will fuel your camper’s imagination and energy. Buckle up adventure is on the horizon! ��

Week 5: July 28th - August 1st

Wild West Funfest ����

Yeehaw! Saddle up for a rootin’-tootin’ good time at the Wild West Funfest the final week of camp, but the fun is far from over! Campers will round up their friends for cowboy-themed games, pan for “gold,” and craft their own bandanas or sheriff badges From line dancing to a Wild West scavenger hunt, the adventure never ends. The week caps off with a Western-style carnival where campers can lasso prizes and chow down on classic summer treats. Dust off your boots and join us for one last unforgettable week of Wild West fun! ��✨

ADVENTURE EXPLORERS

Each week, Adventure Explorers campers focus on a key secondary learning skill while embarking on exciting field trips across the Puget Sound area. These experiences, filled with adventure and discovery, help build character and foster a sense of community among campers.

Week 1: June 30th- July 3rd (no camp July 4th)

Curiosity

Our curious campers will have the chance to explore interactive exhibits and handson learning at destinations like the Pacific Science Center in Seattle or the Museum of Flight. They’ll engage in scavenger hunts, ask questions, and discover new interests while exploring different environments, from nature centers in Issaquah to cultural museums in Kirkland These trips are designed to spark wonder and fuel their desire to learn

Week 2: July 7th- July 11th

Grit

Building grit is all about pushing through challenges, and what better way to do that than with adventurous trips like rock climbing at the Bellevue Climbing Wall or navigating tricky maneuvers at Monster Mini Golf? These field trips offer hands-on experiences where campers will face physical and mental challenges, work through moments of doubt, and celebrate their perseverance Along the way, they'll learn that effort and persistence are key to success.

Week 3: July 14th - July 18th

Social Intelligence

Through teamwork-based field trips such as a group scavenger hunt at the Seattle Aquarium or a cooperative activity day at Discovery Park, campers will develop their social intelligence by practicing communication, empathy, and collaboration. Whether navigating team-building exercises at the Woodland Park Zoo or working on group tasks at parks in Issaquah, these outings will enhance their ability to connect with others, work through conflicts, and celebrate shared accomplishments.

Week 4: July 21st - July 25th

Gratitude

Field trips like volunteering with local environmental groups or visiting farms in the region will give campers the opportunity to learn about the impact of giving back. They'll spend time reflecting on their experiences, whether it's helping plant trees in Bellevue’s parks or learning about sustainable practices at the Seattle Tilth Farm These experiences will teach campers to appreciate their surroundings and the efforts of those who make these experiences possible.

Week 5: July 28th - August 1st

Optimism

From trying new water sports like kayaking at Lake Washington to enjoying outdoor adventures in the parks of Bellevue, campers will learn the power of optimism. These outings will encourage them to approach new activities with confidence and support each other in overcoming fears and challenges. Whether navigating a challenging trail in Cougar Mountain or cheering on their peers during group challenges, campers will discover how a positive mindset helps them grow and succeed.

Note: Field trips are still being finalized, and a full schedule will be made available to families on a rolling basis as we receive confirmations from our partner locations.

CHESS

Start each day learning and playing the greatest alternate chess games such as Bughouse, Fischer Random, and Giveaway. Learn how to create your own games based on chess and compete with your classmates. Finally, test yourself at “Maneuvering Speed”, the chess game without checks or captures. Come prepared to have fun playing the ancient game of kings!

MARTIAL ARTS AND THE MOVIES

PRESENTED BY OWS PARTNER KARATE-X

Our “Martial Arts and the Movies” camp will have a special focus on martial arts shows for kids like Karate Kid, Kung Fu Panda, and Ninja Turtles We will learn how choreography, stunts, acting and sound effects create realistic scenes. We will also introduce famous martial arts heroes and villains like Samurai and Ninjas, keeping it entertaining and fun! (This is an active course and students will not be watching movies at camp.)

As in all of our camps, students will learn and practice Karate and Kung Fu for a unique and positive summer experience!

Each action-packed day will include physical and mental activities, games and drills to build body and mind! Our professional instructors know how to challenge and motivate kids of all ages, building self-confidence and discipline. This class is for all skill levels, even those who have never practiced Karate.

ZOO FRIENDS

Explore the wonders of the animal kingdom! Campers will dive into the fascinating world of zoo animals, discovering their behaviors, habitats, and the importance of wildlife conservation. Through engaging activities and discussions, campers will spark curiosity, develop empathy for wildlife, and gain a deeper respect for the natural world. This inspiring camp encourages young minds to make choices that positively impact our planet and become champions for conservation.

SOCCER SKILLS & FUN CLINIC

Get ready to kick, run, and score! Campers will learn essential soccer techniques, from dribbling and passing to teamwork and strategy, through a mix of engaging drills, fun games, and hands-on practice. They'll build coordination, balance, and confidence while sharing the joy of the world's favorite sport. Campers will also explore global soccer culture, watch exciting game highlights, and participate in lively debates about top competitions like the FIFA World Cup, Premier League, and more!

LITTLE ARTISTS CAMP

Get ready to explore a world of color and creativity! Campers will learn about a new artist each day, like Alma Thomas and Frida Kahlo, while creating five amazing art projects throughout the week. They'll experiment with fun materials like watercolor, clay, crayons, pastels, and markers to bring their imaginations to life.

MINECRAFT JR. BUILDERS

Young adventurers will band together to create their very own digital towns and cities in Minecraft! Throughout the week, they’ll collaborate to collect resources, build imaginative structures, and develop teamwork skills. On the muchanticipated "Creative Day," campers will have unlimited access to building blocks, bringing their wildest ideas to life like statues, mini-games, and vibrant digital art.

STORYTIME SCIENCE EXPLORERS

Discover the wonders of science through stories and hands-on fun! Campers will listen to engaging STEM read-alouds that introduce concepts like height, weight, and gravity With teacher guidance, they'll create exciting science experiments, explore partner activities, and discuss their findings using thoughtful questions Creative science-themed coloring pages and group discussions will spark curiosity, collaboration, and a love for discovery.

CHINA: MARTIAL ARTS AND KUNG FU

Our “China: Martial Arts and Kung Fu” camp will have a special focus on the martial arts of China. We will learn about martial arts such as Kung Fu, Tai Chi, and Shaolin. We will also introduce aspects of Chinese culture related to martial arts including the “scholarwarrior” ideal and meditation, keeping it entertaining and fun! (This is an active, physical course!)

As in all of our camps, students will learn and practice Karate and Kung Fu for a unique and positive summer experience!

Each action-packed day will include physical and mental activities, games and drills to build body and mind! From imaginative experiments to teamwork activities, this camp is all about creativity and collaboration.

RHYTHM & MOVES ADVENTURE

Let the beat take you on a journey! This energetic camp blends music, dance, and creativity through engaging daily activities. Campers will begin by mastering rhythm and basic dance moves while playing fun coordination games. As the week progresses, they’ll explore musical instruments and learn dance styles such as hip-hop, ballet, and folk. They’ll also travel the world through music and cultural dance traditions, crafting their own maracas and drums along the way The grand finale features a vibrant performance where campers showcase their newfound skills, including learning energetic Punjabi Bhangra moves and enjoying a special competition dance showcase Campers will gain confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love for music and movement!

PARKOUR: NATURAL BORN HEROES (AM ONLY)

Students will undertake daily parkour instruction, practice, and games as well as introductory lessons in bow staff and escrima training to help us develop our real-life human powers, students will read age-appropriate stories about some of the incredible things youth have done worldwide and throughout history to make their homes and communities safer places to live, learn, and play

Students will also contrast these true stories of heroism with fictional stories of super heroes from comics, manga, and movies to highlight that one needs only to be born human to become a powerful hero.

A WEEK AT THE BEACH

A Week at the Beach camp offers campers an exciting, hands-on experience that combines fun outdoor activities with environmental education. This camp will immerse campers in the wonders of the beach environment, promoting physical activity, creativity, and environmental awareness. Through water sports, beach games, arts, and nature explorations, campers will have the opportunity to learn about marine life, coastal ecosystems, and how to protect the environment while having a blast.

CREATIVE HEARTS: ART FOR EXPRESSION & WELL-BEING

Discover the power of creativity to promote emotional well-being and selfexpression. In this supportive and fun environment, campers will explore how art can help improve mental health, build emotional awareness, and foster resilience. Through guided activities, students will learn to name, process, and express their emotions, while building self-confidence and emotional growth. No prior artistic experience is required this camp focuses on self-discovery and using art as a tool for healing and creative expression. Perfect for students looking to connect with their emotions and boost their confidence in a creative and supportive space.

BUILD & LEARN TO PLAY UKULELE! (OFFERED

AM ONLY)

Experience on string instruments or ukulele recommended.

Make music with a four-string ukulele you build yourself! During the week Campers alternate between advanced ukulele chord instruction on a class provided ukulele and instrument building. The no glue kits build the frets and neck before connecting them to the wooden body. Explore ukulele history, plus science of vibration and sound waves as you learn how to string and tune your ukulele. Then rock out strumming to songs!

BUILD A BOARD GAME (OFFERED PM ONLY)

Get ready to roll the dice on creativity! Campers will explore a wide variety of board game types, discovering how rules, mechanics, player interactions, decision-making, and themes come together to make games fun and engaging. Throughout the week, they'll analyze their favorite games, brainstorm innovative ideas, and design their very own board games. On the final day, campers will share, play, and celebrate their unique creations in a showcase of imagination and strategy. Let the games begin!

Get ready for a week of strategy, creativity, and fun! In this small-group camp, campers will learn and play a variety of engaging board and card games that challenge their critical thinking and communication skills. From deck builders and dice games to cooperative and dexterity-based challenges, campers will explore different game mechanics while developing strategies and teamwork. Along the way, they'll learn game definitions, helpful tips, and how to create fair "house rules." The week wraps up with a game day featuring their favorite picks. Whether you're a seasoned player or new to board games, this club is the perfect place to roll the dice and have fun!

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! CINEMATOGRAPHY

Step into the world of filmmaking and develop professional skills in video production, editing, and photography fundamentals. Campers will explore composition, lighting, and camera operation while using Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro for editing. Working with beginner-friendly equipment, they’ll create individual and group projects, with opportunities to experiment with high-end cinema gear for special projects. This hands-on camp is perfect for aspiring filmmakers and creative storytellers looking to bring their ideas to life!

MINECRAFT ARCHITECTS & INNOVATORS

Older campers will collaborate on large-scale architectural projects and build intricate societies, developing leadership, teamwork, and decision-making skills. They'll explore everything from resource management to creating in-game governments. On "Creative Day," the sky's the limit campers will have infinite resources to construct awe-inspiring builds, including detailed statues, vibrant art, and even playable mini-games.

CHARACTER DESIGN AND SCULPTING

PRESENTED BY OWS PARTNER OPEN WORLD (FULL DAY)

Creating with our hands is an activity that goes back hundreds of thousands of years. Sculptures can be a deeply satisfying and even relaxing art, from the design stage, to creation, to display. Perfecting the techniques that go into sculpting can take years, but students can learn the fundamentals to ensure they have a great start to a lifelong passion—with pieces they can treasure for years to come.

This workshop starts off with the basic principles of character design, including animals, plants, and humanoids Instructors will demonstrate several techniques and approaches to sculpting that students will attempt from concept to finished piece.

By the end of the workshop, students will have several well-designed, highquality sculptures to take home and the know-how to continue the craft at home or at school.

PARKOUR: NATURAL BORN HEROES (FULL DAY PROGRAM)

In addition to daily parkour instruction, practice, and games as well as introductory lessons in bow staff and escrima training, students will read excerpts from Christopher McDougal's "Natural Born Heroes" and study historical instances when regular people have risen to occasions when their communities needed heroic intervention

DEBATE: STRATEGICALLY SPEAKING

Students will engage a dynamic, hands-on program designed to teach students the art of communication, persuasion and critical thinking. The camp is idea for all students regardless of their experience with public speaking. This camp will provide a fun, supportive and engaging environment to develop their public speaking and strategic communication skills.

CHESS

We will learn all basic tactics including pins, skewers, discovered and double attacks. Students will also learn classical chess openings such as the Italian and Spanish games along with the Sicilian to a depth of 6 moves. This class will also teach initial strategies in tournament play.

BOARD GAME CLUB: THE NEXT ROLL!

Learn and play different fun board and card games than learned in week one! Campers will find games with engaging mechanics that promote fun critical thinking and communication. Game types include pick up and deliver, dice games, deck builders, Co-Op, dexterity, and more! Club members learn game definitions, tips and how to positively make fair “house rules”. Last day we will play favorite games of the week.

Limitless Minecraft Modding

PRESENTED BY OWS PARTNER OPEN WORLD (FULL DAY)

Minecraft is a game with near infinite replay potential thanks to a large, dedicated community of modders. Mods exist in many video games and allow both developers and average users to do everything from introducing minor tweaks to entirely new levels and game behaviors. In doing so, modding can touch on programming, art design, game design, and more.

This workshop gives students a hands-on introduction to Minecraft modding, including applying new image assets to the game and adding or editing in-game behaviors. Instructors will guide students on the use of an easy-to-understand mod interface so the fun can continue on their home PCs.

By the end of the workshop, students will be able to design and create their own mods to use themselves or share with friends and family who also play Minecraft.

Projects in this workshop may include: Designing a playable Minecraft character skin or designing and implementing custom in-game blocks

DEBATE: THE ART OF ARGUMENTATION:

Students will explore a skill driven, technique based program designed to teach students how to argue, refute and rebut e.g. DEBATE! The camp is idea for all students that want to improve "getting their point across". This camp will provide a balanced and supportive environment to develop argumentation skills.

SOCCER SKILLS & FUN CLINIC (FOR CAMPERS IN GRADES 3-8)

Get ready to kick, run, and score! Campers will learn essential soccer techniques, from dribbling and passing to teamwork and strategy, through a mix of engaging drills, fun games, and hands-on practice. They'll build coordination, balance, and confidence while sharing the joy of the world's favorite sport. Campers will also explore global soccer culture, watch exciting game highlights, and participate in lively debates about top competitions like the FIFA World Cup, Premier League, and more!

MAGIC THE GATHERING (PM ONLY)

Step into the world of Magic: The Gathering! In this weeklong camp, campers will learn the basics of gameplay, explore different formats, and dive into deck building and strategy Whether you're a beginner or looking to sharpen your skills, this camp offers a fun and engaging way to master the world’s most popular and longest-running trading card game Come play, strategize, and discover the magic!

PARKOUR: KINETIC HISTORY OF FITNESS (FULL DAY)

Students will start each day training for whole-body fitness, mobility, agility, and skill-development; pairing movement with instruction and study of human skeletal and muscular anatomy. Students will furthermore discuss what it means to be physically fit in 2025, and compare that with the ideals of fitness from previous generations. Students will study how the prevalence of screens and cameras changed fitness from being utilitarian to being aesthetic. We will learn that for most of human history physical fitness was about being utilized by one's community rather than being idolized on one's social media.

UKULELE: BUILD & LEARN TO PLAY UKULELE! (AM ONLY)

Make music with a four-string ukulele you build yourself! During the week Campers alternate between beginning ukulele instruction on a class provided ukulele and instrument building. The no glue kits build the frets and neck before connecting them to the wooden body. Explore ukulele history, plus science of vibration and sound waves as you learn how to string and tune your ukulele. Then rock out strumming to some beginner-friendly songs! Beginner level No experience needed

Concept Art and Illustration

PRESENTED BY OWS PARTNER OPEN WORLD (FULL DAY)

The work done by professional concept artists helps to guide illustrators, modelers, animators, and designers throughout the art production process. This is especially important in settings such as fantasy or science fiction, which doesn’t always have a real-world reference that creators can refer to for inspiration.

This workshop covers the principles of designing characters, creatures, props, vehicles, and more. Instructors will explain different approaches to concept art and various methods of delivering art to others in a way that conveys the desired effect.

At the end of the workshop, students will be able to deliver well-thought-out concepts and illustrations that other artists would be able to use to guide their own work.

Projects in this workshop may include: Creating a fully realized space battle scene or designing and painting a robot

DEBATE: STRATEGICALLY SPEAKING

Students will engage a dynamic, hands-on program designed to teach students the art of communication, persuasion and critical thinking. The camp is idea for all students regardless of their experience with public speaking. This camp will provide a fun, supportive and engaging environment to develop their public speaking and strategic communication skills.

MINECRAFT ARCHITECTS & INNOVATORS

Older campers will collaborate on large-scale architectural projects and build intricate societies, developing leadership, teamwork, and decision-making skills. They'll explore everything from resource management to creating in-game governments. On "Creative Day," the sky's the limit campers will have infinite resources to construct awe-inspiring builds, including detailed statues, vibrant art, and even playable mini-games.

BOARD GAME CLUB: CO-OP!

CO-OP gaming is players co-operating on the same team!! Campers will discover these fun CO-OP board and card games with engaging mechanics that promote critical thinking and communication. Game types include pick up and deliver like Horrified, and Forbidden Island series, dice games like King of Monster Island, deck builders, or others like The Crew: Mission Deep Sea, Codenames, Burgle Bros, etc! Club members learn game definitions, tips and how to positively make fair “house rules”. On the last day we will play our favorite games of the week.

Coding in Python

PRESENTED BY OWS PARTNER OPEN WORLD (FULL DAY)

Coding is an essential, modern skill that can serve students as both a hobby and a future profession. Early exposure to computer programming languages and workflows can ensure lifetime fluency in these areas, which dictate so many aspects of our twenty-first century innovations.

This workshop gives students a practical approach to core programming principles. Instructors will teach students to work within the Visual Studio Code integrated development environment, guiding them through the ins and outs of the Python programming language. Python is a versatile language with applications in automation, data analysis and visualization, machine learning, and more.

By the end of the course, students will be able to write complete and welldocument programs that can have any number of real-world applications.

Projects in this workshop may include: Designing and developing a text-based game or coding a penguin identifying program

BUILD A BOARD GAME (AM ONLY)

Get ready to roll the dice on creativity! Campers will explore a wide variety of board game types, discovering how rules, mechanics, player interactions, decision-making, and themes come together to make games fun and engaging. Throughout the week, they'll analyze their favorite games, brainstorm innovative ideas, and design their very own board games. On the final day, campers will share, play, and celebrate their unique creations in a showcase of imagination and strategy. Let the games begin!

Program Description

The Open Window Summer Leader In Training (LIT) Program is designed to offer students comprehensive classroom experience as a mentor to students and an assistant to teachers. LITs are campers with leadership responsibilities and can have a profound impact on a student’s experience. Under the guidance of the LIT Director, LITs will attend training sessions, learn how to be an effective LIT, model positive camp behavior, undergo performance evaluations, participate in self-evaluations, and provide general camp support as needed. Upon successful completion of the program, LIT hours will be validated as volunteer hours to meet school requirements.
