NICOLE PURTELL PRESIDENT/OWNER

N

icole began dancing at the mere age of two, training at Lisa's Dance Studio in Quincy, MA, and learned skills and competed in ballet, modern, Irish step, tap, jazz, hip hop and vocal dance.

In high school, Nicole was a dance major at North Quincy High School's Renaissance Arts Program, expanding her artistic abilities in the fields of art, photography, music, dance, and theater.

Nicole has been the Director and Choreographer of the Plymouth Dance Academy since 2011 for the Town of Plymouth, in addition to owning Open Space Studio. Nicole also has extensive experience teaching children with special needs of all kinds. As a mother of a child on the autism spectrum, she deals with this on a daily basis but has also worked at the Home for Little Wanderers. BRITTANY PURTELL COMPETITIVE TEAM COACH

B

rittany has been dancing since the age of 2, receiving training from Lisa's Dance Studio in Quincy MA, and later at Paula Coffey Dance Center in Bridgewater MA. Brittany has competed in hip-hop, tap, and jazz, as well as learned skills in ballet, lyrical, pointe, and pom. Brittany instructs the teen and senior elite teams, holds technique workshops throughout the year, and teaches adult drop-in classes.

Brittany received her Masters degree in social work last month, and through this education, she applies a traumainformed approach to each of her classes.

Brittany recently choreographed a music video which went viral on Buzzfeed, received a a grant to teach hip-hop to underprivileged children, and was featured in the July 2018 issue of Dance Teacher Magazine for her work. (See right)

PATRICIA HALL BALLET TEQUNIQUE INSTRUCTOR

P

atricia Hall Loring studied as a scholarship student with Boston Ballet under the direction of E Virginia Williams and also performed many musical theatre kids roles in summer stock and on early Boston television. Ms Loring studied early childhood education and special needs at Cazenovia College and Lesley University.

Ms Loring became a full time faculty member of the Boston Ballet School from to 1999 -2011 ,specializing in Elementary Technique, Summer Intensives , Children's Program, Citidance, and Adaptive Dance with yearly onstage choreography. Ms Loring partnered with acclaimed ballet pianist, Steven Mitchell to produce a CD/ DVD, On Your Mark, Get Set, Dance! that is geared for teachers introducing dance to new students.

AMY BOUCHER YOUTH/HIP HOP TEACHER

A

my has been singing, acting, and dancing for most of her life.

She has a unique performance background that includes being the lead singer in a local band as well as an interpreter at the Plymouth Plantation.

She has been an AFAA Certified Group Exercise Instructor since 2013 and enjoys teaching dance fitness and strength training. Amy has been with Open Space Studio for 5 years with experience teaching preschool, kinder dance, musical theater, and hip-hop for all ages. This year she coached the hip-hop production. In addition to her dance technique, Amy also brings a positive attitude and great rapport with the students into the studio each week.

In her spare time, Amy has a online Etsy store featuring a wide array of books and gifts!

DANIELLE SAVOY PRESCHOOL & KINDERDANCE INSTRUCTOR

D

anielle is the newest faculty addition to Open Space Studio! She began dancing at the age of 6, going on to perform in local productions of The Nutcracker.

Danielle attended Dean College in Franklin MA, where she earned an Associates degree in dance education. She also has a minor in dance from Bridgewater State University. Danielle’s two daughters are also dancers at the studio. She will be instructing the preschool and kinder-dance students. We are excited to welcome Danielle and her dance background onto the team!

H

annah McIntosh has been dancing since the age of 2, and began dancing competitively at age 11. Hannah is currently an Assistant Teacher for the Mini Elite dance team and also teaches the Stretch class for the competition teams. Hannah is a sophomore at Plymouth South High School and is a member of the Plymouth South varsity dance team. She hopes after graduates high school to go to college and eventually work in the medical field.

addie McWhirk Is going into her sixth year of dancing and her fifth competition season at Open Space Studio.

Additionally, Maddie has been a student teacher for four years, working with the competitive teams and teaching a technique class weekly. In the future, she would like to attend college for education and use knowledge she gained by both dancing and teaching at Open Space. She also hopes to keep dancing and teaching others dance in some way.

M MORGAN SAVOY

organ started dancing recreationally at age 3. She has a passion for dance and lets herself shine onstage. At age 9 she joined a competition team, and has been dancing competitively now for 4 years. This year Morgan began competing in the solo category, and both her skills and self-confidence continue to grow.

She enjoys student teaching every Saturday.

Morgan currently is enrolled in a competition team, as well as ballet, Tap and Musical Theatre.

I IRIS PEVZNER

ris came to Open Space in 2015 after 7 years of previous studio experience. She is the youngest team member on the Senior competition team and considers her teammates to be some of her best friends. She loves lyrical and tap and adores her Petite competition team students!

DELYLA COLEMAN-BELL

elyla has been dancing since the age of thre and began competitive dance at age 10. She is currently on the Hip Hop dance team at Open Space Studio, and loves student teaching just as much as she loves being on stage. Last year she assisted with the Mini Elite team and this year, her focus is on the Musical Theatre and Hip Hop classes. Delyla attends Plymouth North High School, where she is on the honor roll and was recently accepted into the Facilities Management program. She hopes to continue modeling self confidence and promoting a love of dance to the youth at Open Space Studio.

enelope Pino is an eighth grader at PCIS. She began dancing when she was three.

She has enjoyed classes in ballet, hip hop, lyrical, and music theater. This year she enjoyed student teaching with the elementary dance class and the petite team.

In addition to a wide variety of snacks and beverages, you can also purchase tickets to the 50/50 raffle there as well!

We hold this very important raffle each year at the recital to raise much needed funding for the studio scholarship program.

This program makes it possible for Open Space to provide tuition -free or reduced-rate dance classes to those students who qualify for this need-based

financial assistance, which accounted for nearly 15% of our entire student body, and totaled over $6000 in the 2018-19 session.

For every $5.00 ticket sold, half of the total proceeds will go to a winner from today’s audience (drawn at the finale) and the other half helps us keep the dream alive for our scholarship recipients.
