Film makers love the area and there is Portobello Road known for its antiques. Feminist Reading Group – details to follow: Tavis House, 1-6 Tavistock Square, WC1H 9NA. Intergenerational Feminist Reading Group will offer an informal space for the discussion of feminist ideas and texts. Chaired by Elsa Richardson, an historian based in Queen Mary’s Centre for the History of Emotions, with the aim of encouraging a dialogue between different generations of feminist thinkers, activists and supporters. Participants will play an active role in shaping the group, by helping to select reading material or by suggesting possible points for discussion. In keeping with its intergenerational approach, it is proposed that each month the group will read a piece of contemporary feminist writing alongside a Second Wave work, but this remains up for discussion. We have a wonderful 32 acre site which is open to the public and has fantastic views across London. Meet at 12:00 noon at Mudchute DLR Station then it is a short walk to the entrance. Foster Court is on the right and half way along there is an archway also on the right, with a set of automatic double doors on the right - the Common Room is through those doors and up 3 stairs but also has step-free access. Film will be “Celluloid Closet” Based on Vito Russo's groundbreaking 1981 work of film history, The Celluloid Closet gathers clips from dozens of mainstream Hollywood films to illustrate how the movies have dealt explicitly -- and more importantly, implicitly -- with lgbt themes. For the walking groups, if you are part of an older LGBT group somewhere else, and want to walk under their banner within the “Older LGBT Community” group, then please let me know. As for the bus, requests are now open for seats on the bus BUT REMEMBER: seats are allocated on a needs basis (and not first come first served) and will be solely reserved for older LGBT people who would like to take part in the parade but would not otherwise be able to walk the parade route. If you want to be considered for a seat, please let either Kate or myself know on 020 7239 0446/0447. Our Pride celebration finishes up at our usual older LGBT community relaxation space at St Anne’s church in Dean Street in Soho from 2pm to 6pm.
