Care & Maintenance
Metal
Bronze and brass, with their high copper content, naturally develop a patina over time, an intrinsic quality celebrated for its aesthetic richness and enduring elegance. Regular dusting with a soft, dry cloth will maintain the piece’s luster. For deeper cleaning, use warm water applied with a soft cloth, followed by immediate drying with a fresh cloth. Avoid solutions containing detergents, alcohol, solvents, or commercial metal polishing agents and waxes, as they may compromise the patina. For restoration or patina refreshing, consultation with a professional metal finisher or patineur is advisable.
Glass
Both cast and blown glass should be maintained by cleaning with a soft, damp cloth or a glass cleaner devoid of additives. Ensure that the cleaner is applied to the cloth rather than directly to the glass surface to prevent overspray, thereby preserving the clarity and brilliance of the glass.
Lighting
Metal finishes on lighting fixtures are prone to tarnish, pitting, and patina oxidation over time. They should be cleaned solely with a soft, dry cloth. Refrain from using commercial cleaning products or wrapping the fixtures in plastic, as these practices can accelerate degradation.
Stone
Natural stone, with its inherent variations and unique markings, is polished or sealed to resist stains. Clean stone surfaces with a soft cloth and a mild stone soap or light detergent mixed with warm water. Avoid using excessive cleaner or soap, which can leave a residue. Rinse the surface thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth. Blot spills immediately to prevent staining. For stubborn stains, professional cleaning by a stone expert is recommended. Many foods and beverages contain acids that can etch or dull stone surfaces; therefore, use placemats or felt spots under items that might scratch the stone.
Following these guidelines will ensure the longevity and pristine condition of your Opame Collective pieces, preserving their beauty and integrity for years to come.
