AUTUMN 2022

So, you are enjoying that engaged feeling and starting to plan for your big day. How exciting! It may feel overwhelming with so much to organise, and you may have questions when it comes to wedding rings. The top 3 questions we are asked at Xennox Diamonds are:

1.

WHEN SHOULD I BUY THE WEDDING RINGS? We advise couples to start wedding ring shopping around 4 months out from their wedding day. This gives enough time to look at options and designs and be sure of the ring they are going to wear forever.

2.

WHAT METAL SHOULD I USE IN OUR RINGS? There has never been more choice in metals when manufacturing men’s wedding rings. Metals include platinum, titanium, tantalum, palladium, carbon fibre and of course yellow, rose, and white gold. With women’s wedding rings, we recommend using the same metal that has been used in the engagement ring to ensure they will wear well together.

3.

SHOULD I GET HANDMADE OR CAD? This will depend on the design of the ring. At Xennox we have an onsite workshop with our own jewellers and diamond setter, so we love to hand make wedding rings to match the engagement ring so the diamonds line up, the profile matches and they look like they were made to be together. Some rings are made for CAD and the team will be able to walk you through the best option for you.

At Xennox Diamonds we are here to make it simple for you and be your guide in creating your perfect rings. Check out some of our happy clients here: xennox diamonds reviews - Google Search We would love to meet you and be a small part of your special day. CLAUDIA & JOEL 20.7.21

Cool, quirky, fun! Everything tailor made to ‘Cloel’. We didn’t want anything traditional or grandiose. Just a big ole party! Our elopement was on 20 July 2021, which was our original wedding date. On our one year renewal, we will be having a wedding to celebrate with friends and family as originally planned.

We were supposed to get married with family and friends on 20 July 2021. At the time you could only have 10 or 20 people dancing at a time and wearing masks. We’re a very dancy crowd so that was just not an option. We had everything ready to go but didn’t want to wait another year to get married! We quickly decided to elope on the same date, just us. The Maid of Honour is in Perth and some of the bridal party are in Canada and we didn’t want to have our wedding without them. As we changed from Wedding to Elopement at the last minute with no guests, we didn’t need a lot of the vendors we had originally booked so we’ll get to use them for Wedding 2.0 in July 2022. Stay tuned!

Claudia O’Brien and Joel Bardy were paired as managers at the same venue in the Fortitude Valley precinct in 2012. “There was certainly an instant attraction. We were very professional (at the time) but there was an unwritten law (and a written legal component) regarding workplace relations so we worked together for a year and a half as friends until Joel was promoted and transferred to a nearby venue. We started meeting for weekly drinks and pool. One thing led to another and here we are nearly 10 years later. Our friends call us ‘Cloel’.” “We had been living in B.C. Canada for the three years preceding our engagement. I had always pictured snowy nuptials so before we returned home to Australia, we had one last trip to Whistler for a friend’s wedding. I had sneakily designed a custom made ring on a short trip home to Brisbane and planned a perfect day at the Scandinavian spa, with big snowy flakes falling on us as we jumped between hot and cold plunge pools, aromatherapy and saunas. Alas, the day drew long and a new plan was formed for the next day. The snow gods blessed us with the perfect Spring bluebird day. We snowboarded all day and Claudia even hit her first big jumps in the terrain park. When she snapped a binding, it seemed like the perfect time to call it a day. I had planned a ‘photo shoot’ at Lost Lake Park but the area was closed off so we jumped the rope and found a beautiful wooden bridge nestled in the snowy forest illuminated perfectly in the afternoon light. I knew this was the spot and got down on one knee to Claudia’s surprise. We went out for a romantic dinner and enjoyed a blissful couple of days in Vancouver before flying home.” “The last minute elopement provided us with some unexpected wins. The Pink Hotel encapsulated us as a couple. It’s pretty vibey on its own so we didn’t need to add too much decor. Our outfits and party accessories and decorations all fit the theme perfectly. The ceremony was on a late-Winter afternoon on the rooftop, across the road from Coolangatta Beach. No guests meant we had the entire day to ourselves, starting with yoga and room service brekky. Not having too many prying eyes made the photography experience light and breezy and really fun and a little bit silly at times. We were absolutely stoked with the outcome. It definitely helped us relax even more having our celebrant and photographer as good friends of ours as we can be pretty awkward in front of a crowd or camera at times. We didn’t have to fuss over catering so it was a treat to just slip down to the bar for burgers and cocktails when we were ready and fun to do it in our wedding outfits.”

“We were so happy with the day. It was incredibly relaxed and exactly as we had planned and pictured (minus the people of course). The perfect day for us. I came up with the design of my dress, and we both had our outfits custom made by When Freddie Met Lilly. After trying on 50+ dresses at multiple boutiques, I knew exactly what I wanted and it didn’t exist. We purposely designed our outfits to suit the venue, decor and colour scheme. Everything was specifically created and styled by us to totally encompass our personalities. All our family and friends said it looked 100% us and they expected nothing less! We didn’t want a traditional wedding. We’re all about the fun! I did my own hair and makeup as I know what I like. My mother made my lovely pink veil which I designed. My mother and sister made my bouquet, exactly how I envisioned it, with some leftover tulle from my veil to tie it in. We laughed all day and finished with an appropriate amount of cocktails! We can’t wait to celebrate with friends and family this July! Our advice to anyone planning a wedding is to get a wedding planner diary ASAP! Decide on your budget, record as much of the details as you can and start planning earlier than you think. It’s unlikely everything will go exactly as planned, so take any changes in your stride to get the best out of a once (or twice in our case) in a lifetime experience. We had booked a secluded getaway in northern NSW but Covid forced our hand to stay within the state and we honeymooned in Coolum, QLD on a Winter beach week away with our six month old puppy, Whiskey.”

Congratulations

DONIKA & SCOTT 6.6.21

Our advice is don’t over complicate it! Be you. Enjoy it and each other, the day goes by so quickly.

Donika Mehmet and Scott Moule knew each other from school and reconnected when they were in their late 20’s. “The proposal happened on a weekend getaway to Casuarina, one of our favourite spots to relax. I didn’t think anything of this getaway, as we try to do this a few times a year to escape the hustle and bustle. After dinner at one of our favourite restaurants (Spice Den) we were sitting by the pool, just casually snuggled together (with full bellies) chatting in one of the lounge chairs when Scott whipped out this beautiful engagement ring from his pocket and asked me to be his wife.” “Our original wedding date was 5 June 2020 but due to Covid, we rescheduled to 6 June 2021. Our wedding theme was ‘Fun, Relaxed and Romantic’. A highlight was our twilight ceremony held in the Courtyard Garden which truly felt so magical. Jarrad, our Celebrant, really made our ceremony feel genuine, relaxed and fun. It was so us! We laughed, we cried. I’ll never forget it. We were really set on having a non-traditional wedding. The speeches were another highlight, with beautiful words said from our closest friends and family.” “Our honeymoon plans had to change due to Covid restrictions. We ended up having a beautiful week away in a lakehouse at Noosa and then went to a beautiful cottage in Maleny for a few days.”

ZOE & DION 2.10.21

Our wedding theme was beachy with neutral tones. We both love nature and the beach, so we decided on a mix of natural and coastal settings.

Zoe Woods met Dion King when Dion moved football clubs. His new club had Zoe’s father, Andrew as coach. At training, Andrew advised Dion that Zoe thought he was a good sort. Dion then contacted Zoe through Instagram and organised a date, a movie at the local cinemas. From that first date Dion knew he had found a love for life. A planned trip to Hamilton Island was the destination of the secret wedding proposal. “Our best friends, Luke and Brooke assisted in keeping the secret from Zoe. I waited until the Hamilton Island sunset to arrive at One Tree Hill to pop the question, much to Zoe’s surprise and joy!” “Maison La Plage at Noosa ticked all the boxes for our beachy with neutral tones wedding. Our theme was evident through beige suits, dry flowers and sage/olive dresses. Zoe’s Honey Rose A-Line dress perfectly mirrored the theme.” “Our advice for other couples planning their wedding is small and intimate weddings are the way to go! Be flexible, adaptable and calm. Our planner, Danni was sensational at navigating Covid rules and restrictions. Things may change day to day but remember the whole purpose of the day is to marry each other. The rest will look after itself.” “Our honeymoon was spent in Tasmania. We had a week-long road trip enjoying beautiful food and wine and aesthetically stunning scenery. Would highly recommend!”

The whole day was one big highlight. The beauty of our venue, the intimacy and relaxed, laid-back nature of our ceremony thanks to the personal touches from our Wedding Planner, Danni. Our celebrant Jay, who brought us and our family and friends tears and laughter throughout the ceremony; our photographer Jodie, capturing all the emotions throughout the day; our reception and partying on the Noosa Ferry into the sunset, along with our amazing experience thanks to Mal and the staff at the Hop and Vine bar on Hastings Street... we could not have asked for a better day to wed.

KATIE & MATTHEW 2.12.21

Our highlight was being able to see everything come together. After a year of planning and having to postpone due to Covid, it was nice to finally see our fairytale dream come true.

Katie Keegan met Matthew Marsham on Tinder. “Before Tinder, we had a moment on a night out! Matt was minding his business while I spent the night following him around haha! I went home thinking I would never see this guy again but I feel like fate brought us together because we matched on Tinder and later on I realised he was the same guy I spotted out clubbing! We decided to meet up and go on a date. We were the complete opposite! Matt was very shy and I was the one who did most of the talking. A couple of months went by and Matthew officially asked to be together and the rest is history.” “It was during the peak of Covid that Matthew organised the proposal. He said it was meant to be in a rainforest retreat in NSW where everything was organised ready for us when we arrived but then he had to cancel because the borders were closed. He said he couldn’t wait so he organised the proposal himself with the help of a couple of my girlfriends. They organised for us to go out for dinner, which we always do. Little did I know, he was organising something special at home. When the girls dropped me back home, I noticed candles and flowers in the house. We went in and the set up was very romantic, rose petals shaped into a heart, candles everywhere, fairy lights and a sign saying, ‘Will you marry me?’. Out of nowhere, Matthew appeared behind me on his knees saying the most beautiful things and asking me to spend the rest of our lives together. Of course I was in tears. It was the happiest moment and I was so glad Matthew got to set it up with our beautiful princess. It meant so much more that we got to share the moment with our daughter and our closest friends.” “It’s easy to get caught up with all the beautiful themes on Pinterest but Matthew and I wanted our wedding to be unique to us! We spoke about what we loved and our stylist helped us put everything together. Fresh flowers and candles are my obsession and Matthew now appreciates them as well! We wanted the florals to make a statement - a lot of whites, baby pink and blush in a variety of my favourite flowers such as roses, orchids and dahlias. We also added lots and lots of candles with different sizes and colours to fit the floral theme. It was such a romantic and elegant theme.”

“Our advice for other couples planning their wedding is although it’s good to get inspiration from social media and past weddings, make your wedding unique to you and your partner. Cherish every moment - not only during the wedding day but also the planning and the lead up to the big day. We are so thankful for all our vendors. Without them we wouldn’t have had our fairytale wedding! The day goes by so quickly but the memories stay forever, so enjoy it and cherish all the beautiful moments.” “We spent our honeymoon on Daydream Island in the Whitsundays. It was amazing and the water was just beautiful.”

We both agree that dancing under the chandelier was our biggest highlight! We got to finally share what we had been working on with everyone we love. We loved every moment of our dance and weren’t nervous, which we thought we would be. We were in the moment and it felt like we were in our own world, just the two of us.

ELLIANA & THEO 5.3.22

Our wedding theme was White, Pink and Silver under the Stars.

Elliana and Theo met through work. “Theo supplies my family’s fruit shop with groceries. I had been sending the orders for work to Theo for about a year until he finally came to visit the fruit shop. I saw Theo for the first time at work not knowing who he was. I was on the till and he walked straight past me, without even a glance towards me. But for me, when I saw him, I instantly felt there was something special about this person. My dad later introduced us telling me that Theo is the one I’ve been sending our orders to this past year. Theo shyly said hello to me with a little wave and then we parted ways. Once Theo left, I turned to my dad and said, ‘Theo is cute’ and saw him giggling but he didn’t say much. From then on, the teasing and games from Dad and Vicki (a colleague) never stopped. The last game Vicki had up her sleeve won the jackpot! She got Theo to text me happy birthday and we began talking until he finally got the courage to ask me out and the rest is history.” “Theo proposed on our one-year anniversary on a waterfront cliff at Cleveland. He first took me there when he asked me to be his girlfriend. We sat on the edge of the cliff and talked for ages watching the sunset and waiting for it to be time for our dinner reservation. Theo got down on one knee and said, ‘I brought you here when I asked you to be my girlfriend and now I want to ask if you’ll marry me?’ and I said ‘Yes’.” “Our wedding theme was ‘white, pink, and silver under the stars’. My highlight was the moment before I walked into the church filled with nerves and excitement and then saw Theo waiting there to marry me. All of my nerves disappeared.” “Our advice for other couples planning their wedding is to start planning everything super early - the earlier the better! You don’t want to be leaving everything until the last minute. It can get pretty full on. I also made an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of all my budgets and spendings. There are a lot of different suppliers you will have to pay with a lot of deposits. It gets hard to remember what you’ve paid for and what is owing and the spreadsheet saved me so much time. Organisation is key!” “We spent our honeymoon at the Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay.”

DAVE & MARK A PERFECT PROPOSAL 21.12.21

The 21st is ‘our thing’! We went on our first date on 21st January and got together a month later on 21st February. We got engaged on 21st December 2021, the Summer Equinox in the southern hemisphere and plan to marry on 21st June 2024, the Summer Equinox in the northern hemisphere. We will likely get married in Split, Croatia, a historical Adriatic seaside beach town with chill vibes.

Dave Nolan and Mark Lord met at a college house party through friends and matched on Tinder six years later. “Being a big romantic, Dave set up the proposal and organised a Vintage Picnic. He had asked Edwina, the photographer, to hide in the bushes to capture every moment.” Dave shares, “It was the only time I have ever surprised Mark and I managed to pull it off without his detective intuition catching me out. What makes it more glorifying is Mark said I could never surprise him for a proposal so it was a case of ‘challenge accepted’. Mark actually noticed Edwina in the bushes and said, ‘Dave, there’s a woman hovering over there in the bushes’, but got no response from me so he let it go. We shared a picnic and bottle of vino and I then asked Mark to remove the blanket on the sign. He was a bit slow to move so I got up and then ‘dirtied the knee’ and asked Mark to read the sign which read: ‘Mark, will you marry me?’ As he says himself, he may have blacked out for a moment with the nerves as he doesn’t recall saying ‘yes’, but I can confirm he did! We kissed and then realised we had attracted a cheering crowd of 30+ onlookers who were either walking by or training in the park. Mark’s legs then gave way and he proceeded to polish off the bottle of Sauv Blanc! We finished up watching the Brisbane sunset and having professional photos taken by Edwina.” __________________________________________________________________________________________ Photography

DIJANNA & TANYA 16.10.21 QLD

We wanted to embrace the incredible mountain views from our venue so kept our styling simple, warm, moody while incorporating as much of nature as possible with candles and grog!

Our wedding venue was beyond magical. If we could do it all over again we would still pick the same venue and all other vendors as they were incredible! It is amazing the difference in experience you have when the people involved in your wedding day are so warm and friendly. Jodie (our photographer) made the day complete by having such a fun and playful attitude. It really helped us feel comfortable being photographed and we had a blast!

Dijanna Lawler and Tanya Tramontin met at the RSPCA. “I was working there when Tanya came into the shelter to donate a car load of items for the shelter animals (food, blankets, toys etc). I was the person who served her at the counter. I had jumped in to help the other staff, otherwise I would not have been out there - pure chance/fate! We collect details of anyone who donates items so we can post a thank you on our RSPCA facebook page. Once we made contact, we continued talking and hit it off right away. We have been glued at the hip ever since.” “We often visit zoos as we are both animal lovers. We were visiting Australia Zoo and had a dingo encounter booked in. There was a film crew and photographer at the encounter and they told me they were videoing encounters since they hadn’t filmed any encounters recently due to Covid. I agreed and as we were playing with the dingoes and getting photos, the zoo keeper handed me a fact sheet about them - but that was not at all the case! It was a fact sheet of the reasons why Tanya loves me. And before I knew it, she was on one knee. Dingoes giving me kisses and my partner proposing... What more could a girl ask for?” “Our wedding day highlights were every single part of it! Everything was perfect from beginning to end, but a huge highlight was getting our photos and videos done. It was fun and playful! And how could we not enjoy the fun at the reception - dancing to the Nutbush, Macarena and Rocky Horror Picture Show!” “Our advice for other couples planning their wedding is don’t overthink it! Take a relaxed approach to finding vendors and to the wedding planning. It should be enjoyable for you both. We were not expecting to plan our wedding in just two months. We weren’t getting married for at least a year or two but it ended up being the best thing we ever did as it left no time to second guess our planning decisions. We embraced the fun and excitement of the wedding to come.” “Unfortunately, due to my health (diagnosed with Stage 4 Bowel Cancer three months before the wedding, which is why we brought our wedding forward), we were unable to go on a honeymoon as I needed to stay in Brisbane for my chemotherapy treatments.”

Love in the Mist

Set in beautiful Beechmont, Queensland, on the top of the mountain, this epic dark and moody styled shoot was born. Bringing to life beautiful complementary tones of emerald, with just a touch of golden elegance. The Providence Farm Hall provides a beautiful setting for any wedding inspiration and its deep and warm tones completely enhanced this palette. Nature provided the beautiful fog which settled over the mountains and spilled onto the road as if it was ordered to appear for the shoot. This styled beauty truly showcases that no matter the weather, beautiful moments can always be captured when you have the right team.

SHERIDAN & CHRIS 15.10.21

Our wedding theme was whites and blush pink, festoon lights and candles for ambient lighting. Timber tables and mixed seating created a Wed Fest vibe.

Sheridan and Chris met over a decade ago at a mutual friend’s going away party. “Chris proposed during a holiday sailing around The Whitsundays on a friend’s yacht. Chris planned the whole thing with them before we went. I’m a sucker for a good sunset photo, so didn’t think anything of it when he asked if we could get photos on the bow of the boat one afternoon, as it was shaping up to be a beautiful sunset. Our friends were planning to take pictures of us but we were looking into the sun, so I closed my eyes and said, ‘Can you please tell me when to open my eyes because the sun is too bright?’ I opened my eyes and Chris was down on one knee with the ring.” “Our Wed Fest was held on a private property and Glamping Hire Co provided glamping tents for our guests to stay. If you want a party to create your own Wed Fest, you can’t go wrong with choosing Bassline Studios. They know how to make it happen! They were willing to learn songs they didn’t know and sing every genre. Our photographer, Jodie was amazing at making us feel comfortable in front of the camera. Samia from Oh Honey Florals was everything that you want in a florist and more. I gave her a couple of example photos of flowers and colours I was hoping for. What she provided on the day was far more than I expected. Brittney and her gals from Wild Hare Studio and Alice Cameron the makeup artist worked their magic to make myself and my bride tribe feel like absolute princesses. The morning of getting ready was so calm and relaxed, all thanks to these girls. Our celebrant, Jarrad Bayliss has married five couples in our friendship group. He makes this ‘boring stuff’ funny and meaningful. Dave from Dave West Films captured our day on film and created a wedding video that encapsulated the love and laughter from our day perfectly without any suggestions or requests. We chose the fork and talk menu from Good 2 Eat Catering, we had a canape style wedding. Very flexible right up to the week before the wedding, the hardest thing to choose was the menu as there were so many great options.” “Our advice for other couples planning their wedding is to get a wedding planner/coordinator who can take your vision and bring it to life. I will admit, I really did not enjoy the whole planning process, so having Ellie there to assist with that made the planning and on the day coordination run perfectly. I believe there were a few issues on the day, but I didn’t even have to know about it because it was all sorted by Ellie at Sunshine Weddings. Plan the types of photos you would like to take so you don’t miss out on getting those special photos on the day as it just goes so fast.” “We spent our honeymoon in Cairns and Port Douglas.”

The whole day was a highlight! From starting the day with my bride tribe getting hair and makeup done, to seeing all my nearest and dearest at the ceremony (minus those from interstate), having the best afternoon taking photos with the bridal party to entering the reception and partying into the night with a band who knows how to get everyone on the dance floor. It really is the best day of your life.

NICOLE & MICHAEL 23.4.21

It was such a lovely day. We were so fortunate the domestic borders had just reopened and we were able to celebrate with our closest loved ones. Sharing our personal vows with each other was so special. There were many tears! Hitting the dance floor with our families will always be a fond memory.

Nicole Frowd and Michael Cardell met in early 2016. “I was helping my friend move into a new house. Michael happened to be one of her handsome new flatmates. After a few too many unsuccessful Tinder dates, I had given up on meeting anyone in person. I didn’t realise it was even a possibility. Every time I would come over to visit my friend, Michael would give off a bit of a ‘Mr Darcy’ vibe. He was always hard to read and that’s why he completely surprised me by asking me out. It turns out he was just shy. Five months later, we moved in together and after nine months we bought our first home. When you know, you know!” The proposal happened on Christmas Day 2018. “We were in my home town of Port Macquarie visiting my Mum. We had just finished unwrapping our Christmas presents when Michael disappeared. He came back with something behind his back. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I think I asked him, ‘Are you serious?’ about 20 times because it was so unexpected. Many tears were shed and my beautiful Mum was there to see it all happen. Apparently, he purchased the ring months earlier and hid it in a secret storage compartment in the car. I had literally been driving around with it for months and had no idea!” “We had a bit of a hard time with venues! We originally chose Moda Events as we loved the waterfront location. Unfortunately, the venue went into liquidation in December 2019 which left us madly rearranging our wedding while having a mini meltdown. Fortunately, Stamford Plaza were incredible and absolutely exceeded our expectations. We quickly locked in 19 September 2020 and just 12 weeks later, Covid hit! We changed the date to 23 April 2021.” “We wanted a timeless and sophisticated wedding with lots of lush organic greenery, white and pops of pink and gold. I had a fun time planning it myself and had some incredible vendors to help bring my vision to life.” “Unfortunately we were unable to go to Italy (where we still have a full honeymoon in credit) so we spent a few weeks in Port Douglas at the beautiful Niramaya Villas and Sheraton Grand Mirage.”

“Our advice for other couples planning their wedding is to always do your research on vendors and make sure they have a good, reliable reputation. Secure your veil with additional bobby pins. I had a three layer chapel length veil and thought the comb would hold it. It got caught on some concrete just as I was about to walk down the aisle and flew off! Have a good protein-filled breakfast on the day. I went for a sugar filled brunch and I think that made me more nervous. If you are booking a limo and your photo shoot is on a weekday, you need to allow extra time for peak hour traffic. I didn’t think of this and we were stuck in city traffic and missed out on some shots. Take 5 minutes out to just spend a moment with your partner to take it all in as it goes so fast. Check all of your vendor and honeymoon contracts for Covid-related postponement clauses. Be careful with eco rice paper confetti. We used 6 confetti cannons at our ceremony and the paper pieces disintegrated into a million pieces. It was beautiful, but everywhere! There’s a lot of debate as to whether videography is worth it. It 100% is! There were so many things we missed seeing on the day that were captured in our film and it’s great to have the happiness of our loved ones captured forever.”

My Grandma passed a week before my original wedding date. I wrapped her pearls around my bouquet to have her close to me. One of the guests mentioned to me afterwards that when our celebrant was talking about loved ones who could not be here however their presence is felt, a butterfly flew in front of my face. Apparently passed loved ones can appear as butterflies, so I like to think that was her way of showing us she was there.

SKYE & MATTHEW 1.1.22

We always imagined having our wedding somewhere on the beach so we thought why not elope in Noosa on our 10 year anniversary, with just us.

Skye Marsden and Matthew Dipace met through Facebook: “Matthew slid into my DMs and that’s how it all started! He proposed to me on 1.1.18 on our 6th year anniversary under the Sydney Harbour Bridge while the fireworks were going off.” “We were never fussed on having a wedding and agreed an elopement was exactly what we both wanted. Even though we eloped, we still wanted to make it special and to put our personalities and style into the day. We went for the Boho theme with a picnic to celebrate and we hired a Kombi. Our advice to others planning a wedding is to enjoy the process. Don’t be hard on yourselves and plan your special day how you want it to be, not how other people want it to be.”

WOW!

A Pine Forrest was transformed into a disco wonderland with bright pops of floral colour. The scene was set with incredible musicians, mind-blowing cocktails enjoyed against a rustic barn backdrop and mesmerising fire performers. As the sun went down, the fire came out! The incredible fire dancers performed a 30 minute high energy performance that needs to be seen to be believed. When the dancers invited our lovely couple to light the fire installation and dance with the fire props, it was a true highlight of the shoot. The Barn Cooroibah is a hidden gem just minutes from Noosa and located on a private property which is available to our couples.

MELINA & TRENT 11.1.22

We chartered Alani, a luxury superyacht, for our reception. We enjoyed a sunset cruise around the Whitsundays with our closest family and friends. It was the best way to celebrate!

Melina Clifford and Trent Whiting met through Trent’s sister and their church. “We would volunteer together and got to know each other more over time.” “Trent proposed in the most romantic way. He disguised it as a celebration for my upcoming 21st birthday. We started at an escape room. (I love mysteries so it was very fitting!) Trent disappeared and then I received a letter that said I had to follow the clues to find him. He had organised a day scavenger hunt where each location was a special place in our relationship such as the location of our first date and where we watched our first sunrise together. At each location one of our friends was waiting to give me the next clue along with a little gift. The last was a riddle and the final clue was to find the place where we go to relax which is our favourite beach in Tugun. When I arrived, I was blindfolded and led out of the car with my brother singing ‘With or Without You’ by U2 (our song) and I opened my eyes to see Trent on one knee under a beautiful arbour. Our friends and family were also there with a picnic all set up for us to celebrate.” “We honeymooned at Qualia which was the most luxurious experience, from the service to the dining and facilities and our beautiful pavilion overlooking the ocean with a private plunge pool. We couldn’t recommend Qualia more highly.”

We had a tropical island theme for our wedding which was held on Hamilton Island... paradise on Earth! Our biggest piece of advice would be to not sweat the small stuff. Things can get so overwhelming and stressful, but remember the day is about you and your partner. That’s what is important.

DREW & ADRIAN 2.5.21 QLD

We both had our mothers walk us down the aisle at the ceremony which was a special moment that will stay with us forever. It’s surreal to have the person who loves you most in the world walk beside you to fulfill a significant milestone in your life.

Drew Gibbons and Adrian Scherma met while both attending the University of Queensland (UQ). “Adrian was in his last year of medical school and I was at the start of my International Relations degree. We had both gone to the same afterparty for an event, which was where we met. Neither of us were particularly sober when we met so things didn’t go the old fashioned way! We thought given how well our first meeting went that we should follow it up with dinner and a movie. Given we were just as smitten sober as when drunk, we thought things were worth pursuing. Nine years later, we both count our blessings that our paths crossed that night.” “We went to New Zealand for a week in May 2019 to stay in remote cabins made of glass. I wanted to make sure the proposal was an intimate experience that just the two of us would be able to enjoy with no other distractions (ie internet). It was the start of Winter, so the temperature dropped to single digits at night and the warmest place in the cabin was in bed. We had a bottle of champagne while stargazing and I turned to Adrian and said ‘lets do this forever’. Adrian didn’t realise what was going on until there was a Tiffany box with a ring in front of him. I put the ring on his finger and it didn’t quite fit right. So, I pushed it a little more until it went to the base of his finger, but it was obviously too tight and uncomfortable. However, the ring wouldn’t come off and Adrian’s finger started to turn purple. For the next 20 minutes we were trying desperately to get the ring off to save us having to make an embarrassing trip to the emergency room. Back in Australia we had the ring resized and more importantly, bought one for myself.”

“We wanted the wedding to be luxurious and easy. When we came across Spicers Hidden Vale, we knew right away that we had found the perfect venue. Drew grew up in the country and we wanted to have a wedding close to his roots, with a few additional indulgences. The second most important thing was that everything ran smoothly. The team at Spicers Hidden Vale nailed every aspect of the wedding from the planning all the way to the execution on the day. It took the pressure off of us and we were able to just go with the flow and enjoy ourselves. We spent the morning of the wedding out on an early morning walk in the countryside with friends before heading back to our room for some quiet time to reflect on our lives together, along with a bottle of champagne for the nerves! Spicers Hidden Vale is the perfect venue with numerous locations for stunning photos and incredible sunsets over the valley. Our first dance, which was brief and beautiful, turned into a free-for-all when all of our guests joined us on the dance floor for an amazing group dance. The energy and joy in the room was palpable.” “Our original plan was to honeymoon in Italy for three months. However, due to Covid restrictions, we ended up having a scaled-down domestic honeymoon. We drove to one of Australia’s top outback resorts, Mt Mulligan Lodge to spend a week there before enjoying Cairns, Port Douglas and Far North Queensland.“

Our advice for others planning their wedding is to make lists, spreadsheets, budgets, secondary lists, Pinterest boards, sticky note lists and lists that don’t even make sense! There’s so much to do that you won’t even realise it until you write it all down. If you’re good, you’ll delegate tasks you don’t want to do to your wedding party! Don’t wait six weeks before the date to organise a dress or a suit! Drew had his final suit fitting two days before the wedding!

Congratulations

CAROLINE & BEN 8.11.20

The whole day was great. It was a very cold and windy day and we had our photos taken on Golden Beach. We were all freezing but it was so much fun and the photos are wonderful.

Caroline Burns met Benjamin Mallett on POF, a dating website. “Ben took me to Mt Timbeerwah on the Sunshine Coast for a picnic where he got down on one knee to propose. We had a beach wedding theme and celebrated with family and friends at the Caloundra Power Boat Club. We had to postpone our original wedding date which was 28 March 2020 as the week leading up to the wedding was the start of all businesses having to close due to Covid. It was very stressful not knowing when everything would open up again. We chose 23 October as our new date but changed it to 8 November 2020 hoping the borders would open so my family in NSW could come to the wedding. They were still unable to come so we decided we couldn’t keep changing the date and went ahead with the wedding. We had a Zoom video with all of my family so they could watch the ceremony and see the speeches at the reception. Priscilla and the team at the Caloundra Power Boat Club won the 2021 Australian Wedding Awards - Wedding Venue title and looked after us so well. Our advice to others planning a wedding is you don’t need to spend heaps of money to have a great and memorable wedding. Keep it simple and have the people that mean the most to you there. It doesn’t have to be stressful if you’re organised and easy going. No one will know if things don’t turn out as planned so don’t let it stress you out - our cake didn’t have the right coloured icing but I was the only one who knew that! We spent our honeymoon in The Whitsundays.”

TALEA & LEE 21.1.22

Our wedding theme was a fresh sophistication. Colours were lavender, silver and fresh foliage green which were originally chosen for a Winter wedding in Queenstown surrounded by snow. We wanted to keep our Sunshine Coast wedding light and sleek.

We had six attempts at setting the wedding date, all due to Covid! We went from Queenstown 7/7/2020 to Queenstown 7/7/21 but couldn’t get back to NZ so had to change everything to Australia. We decided on the Sunshine Coast 7/7/21 and then everything went into lockdown again, this time two weeks out from the wedding. We were devastated and had to find another date - 20/10/21, 9/12/21 and then finally we were able to settle on the magical date of 21/1/22 with barely any restrictions which was Talea’s grandfather’s 85th birthday.

Talea Karaka and Lee Botting met in 2016 through mutual friends. Georgie and Ryan had been friends of Talea’s for a good part of a decade in Queensland and they reconnected in The Shire in Sydney. At the time Talea was cheerleading for the Sharks while managing in retail as well as performing across Sydney as a hip hop dancer. Georgie and Talea organised dinner one night then said they’d rather go to the Sharks vs Warriors at Shark Park instead. Talea was driving and Georgie and Ryan asked if they could pick Lee up on the way (their mate who had lost his licence) so of course she said ‘yes’. They arrived at Lee’s home and as he was walking in front of the car to get in, Talea nudged the car forward at him as a joke and everyone laughed. When Lee got in the back, they caught each other’s eye through the review mirror. At the time Lee thought she was married but then realised the ring was on her right hand! Ever since the day they met they have been inseparable. “In June 2019 a road trip was planned to 1770 Agnes Waters for our third anniversary. In the lead up Lee was a bit stressed and more reserved than normal but I thought that was because he had sold the love of his life, his Harley Davidson. He said it was to put towards the renovation. On our anniversary, Lee told me to dress ‘nice but comfortable’ as we were going somewhere. Boot heels went on and smart casual attire, along with Koda, our 1.5yr old daughter. We arrived at the foot of the mountain where Lee told me we had a bit of a walk up to the lookout. He had organised champagne and a picnic for sunrise, which I didn’t question at the time as Lee is NEVER romantic! There were some tourist backpackers at the lookout and Lee asked them to take our photo in front of the sunrise. I turned around to pick up Koda and as I turned back, Lee was on one knee asking me to spend the rest of my life with him. Of course I said ‘Yes’. Then Koda took the ring out of the box and almost threw it over the edge of the lookout! Lee pretty much turned as white as a ghost!” “There were so many wedding highlights including seeing Lee’s face when Koda and I walked down the aisle. He’s not a ‘big emotion’ guy but you could see the tears welling up. Also, the bridal party dancing as they entered the reception, especially the flower girls who choreographed and nailed it all by themselves. One of the guests performed the Haka solo at the reception after his korero to showcase our New Zealand family not being able to attend. We were able to live stream the wedding to our families who were in England and New Zealand which was very special. Everything was truly a highlight because it took us so long to finally be able to celebrate our day.”

“Our advice for anyone planning a wedding is to make sure you have a really good Wedding Planner who will take the stress off you, leaving you to just look after each other. Choose an MC who knows you both almost as well as you do.” “We have delayed our honeymoon to August 2022 so we can get to Queenstown and enjoy what we would have had as our wedding venue and scenery if it wasn’t for Covid. After the wedding, we had a week long mini-moon where we stayed home and had little dates which we don’t normally get to do in our everyday busy lives. It was just what we needed to recuperate after the whole ordeal and going back to work.”

BUBBLES & BALLOONS

This South-East Queensland Styled Shoot was inspired by the autumnal tones of a Brisbane Sunset. We wanted to capture the Brisbane skyline whilst incorporating an edge that still utilised traditional aspects of a modern bridal portrait session. Our real-life couple, Stefanie and Dallas were glammed by award-winning Blush’d Brides and Euphorie Studios provided two contemporary gowns for our shoot. Florals were provided by Blooms by Bridie, providing unity between the sunset palette; tying it to the rooftop setting. BUBBLES, BALLOONS and WHIMSICAL SMOKE added to this shoot, with a magical sunset to top the afternoon.

50 shades of BLUE Inspired by the ocean blues and rocky elements of this coastal location near Mooloolaba, this styled shoot, dreamed up by Driftwood Blue Floral and Match Made Photography perfectly captures the beauty of an intimate coastal wedding using minimal styling elements with a playful focus on different hues of blue. With an interest in intimate weddings and elopements on the rise, we wanted to create a styled shoot that would help inspire couples on a creative way to style an elopement day. Utilising the simplicity and romance of a coastal location, we used a blue colour palette for the majority of the styling, taking inspiration from the bride’s gown. Floral and creative stylist, Sharon from Driftwood Blue Floral selected the most delicate of colours and textural blooms for the bride’s coastal florals and paired them with metallics and glassware for both the ceremony and tablescape, creating a minimalistic yet timeless set up for this coastal location. With elements of soft blue tulle and white lace, whimsical soft florals and greenery, simple ceremony styling and a luxurious tablescape grazing platter, along with a beautifully handcrafted wedding cake and minimal decor, Sharon was able to create a natural yet highly romantic setting for this coastal wedding shoot. The Bride wore a soft lace top and satin underlay, long length veil and luxury jewellery, paired with a beautifully layered blue tulle skirt, adding inspiration in its elegance and blue colour notes. The Groom wore a linen jacket, white shirt and navy pants, with both tie and open shirt portraits showcasing the opportunity to create a less formal approach. All of this paired with the coastal breezes and moody skies, crashing waves and soft sands underfoot, created the most delightful opportunities to capture portraits only made available by these beautiful coastal locations and luxurious minimalistic wedding styling design.
