Collingwood The Shipyards Medical Arts Centre This new, boutique-style medical arts centre in downtown Collingwood is home to a surgeon, a family physician, a pharmacy, a cosmetic clinic, and even a café. Located in the original home of Collingwood’s first doctor, the historic building at the corner of Huron and Ste. Marie streets has undergone a massive renovation that is as stylish as it is practical. “Patient care is most important, but we also wanted to create a nice environment for patients,” explains Joseph Pugliese, who owns the building along with general surgeon Dr. Michael Lisi, Joanne Weisbrod of Georgian Bay Cosmetic Clinic, and family physician Dr. Matthew Weisbrod. Dr. Lisi and Dr. Weisbrod have offices on the main floor, which also houses the Shipyards Café and the Shipyards Apothecary – a full-service pharmacy. Pharmacist Ahmed El Bably brings 29 years’ experience to his business, which includes a full dispensing pharmacy, over-the-counter medications and vaccinations. “We are offering free delivery for Collingwood and area, blister packing free of charge, diabetic education, and we will be adding a compounding pharmacy to the business next year,” says El Bably. On the second floor, Georgian Bay Cosmetic Clinic offers non-surgical cosmetic treatments such as Botox, Juvederm dermal filler, various laser treatments including laser hair removal, and treatments for acne and hyperpigmentation. “I also carry Vivier and Skin Tx medical-grade skin-care lines,” says owner Joanne Weisbrod, a registered nurse. The second floor will also provide space for visiting physicians and specialists such as pediatricians, ear, nose and throat doctors and others. “It’s a neat concept in terms of medicine – something you see in the States quite a bit,” explains Pugliese. “We will be focused on patient care and education, with physicians and other healthcare professionals working collaboratively to provide the highest quality of care.” 28 Huron St. (corner of Ste. Ccerlii Chow Shiatsu & Acupuncture Clinic This new Collingwood clinic offers a range of services for wellbeing, including traditional, biomedical and cosmetic acupuncture, sports and Shiatsu massage, nutritional and lifestyle counselling. “I am looking at the person as a whole as opposed to just treating one part,” explains registered acupuncturist and Shiatsu therapist Ccerlii Chow, who operated in Creemore for five years before recently moving to Collingwood. “The combination of these modalities are very safe, highly effective and drug free.” In addition to overall health, wellness and illness prevention, Chow says her treatments can help with internal health disorders, acute and chronic injuries, fertility issues, stress, and pre- and post-natal care. Chow also conducts workshops and classes in Chi-gong (a form of moving meditation similar to Tai Chi). 69 First St., Unit B, Collingwood 705-443-7755 www.ccerliichow.com

Collingwood Life Realty Inc. Brokerage Local real estate broker Mary Ann Burgess has launched her own brokerage in Collingwood, with a bit of a twist – she doesn’t accept listings, choosing instead to focus on buyers. “I’m an exclusive buyer representative,” explains Burgess, adding, “It’s unconventional to just work with buyers. Typically brokers want listings, and that’s a big part of how they grow their business. That’s not how I want to grow my business.” With a background in resale as well as new home and condo sales, Burgess says she understands the needs of buyers, how to find them their perfect home, and how to help them negotiate the purchase. “For me as a buyer rep, I don’t care who the

listing is with, who the seller rep is, whether it’s a resale home or a new home,” she says. “I’m here to find you the best home, for you, in this community.” 79 Simcoe St., Suite #1, Collingwood (Tremont Annex) Mary Ann Burgess 705-606-4663 www.collingwoodrealty.ca

Craigleith Kenmark North & Army’s World Cup Ski Services Well-known Richmond Hill ski shop Kenmark Snowsports has opened a second location in Craigleith, teaming up with World Cup ski tuner Dave ‘Army’ Armstrong to give local skiers a one-stop shop to get the most out of their ski season this winter. “We’ve been in Richmond Hill for 34 years, and we saw a need to be able to service our customer base that has moved up here,” notes Kathy East, whose husband is the ‘Ken’ in Kenmark. “This opportunity with Army came up, allowing us to share the building that we’re in.” The Kenmark side of the business is primarily a demo centre for Head and Elan skis. “Customers can try our skis out on the mountain, and if they like them, we can make them available for purchase,” says Kathy. Meanwhile, Armstrong brings over 25 years of ski tuning expertise to the table. “We specialize in hand tuning,” he notes. “We don’t use the big, robotic machines. It’s definitely hands-on, and it takes someone with special talent to make sure skis are tuned for the proper conditions.” In addition to tuning, Army’s also offers repairs, binding services and pole bending. 209574 Hwy. 26, Blue Mountains (Craigleith) 705-293-9322 www.kenmarksnowsports.com www.armyswcss.com

Meaford The Ear Clinic Hearing loss can be frightening and embarrassing, but Doctor of Audiology Brenda Tullio can help. “It really is a huge stigma,” says Tullio. “I try hard to help people through those feelings and past those feelings. Hearing loss is an invisible problem, and until you’ve been there it’s really hard to understand the feelings that go along with it. There are really cosmetically appealing options out there, and hearing aids are far more comfortable than they used to be.” Tullio provides hearing aid prescriptions and fittings as well as counselling for tinnitus (ringing in the ear), ear pain, ear wax, and other ear and hearing-related issues. “I really like to focus on building trusting partnerships with people who seek my care. Great feelings of loneliness and anxiety can accompany hearing loss, and I really try to work with my clients to help them through that.” 39 Nelson St. W., Meaford 226-909-0966 www.earclinic.ca

Live in Light Counselling Services Psychotherapist Lucy Marlin has opened a private counselling practice in Meaford’s Sykes Street Health Centre, providing individual, family and group counselling to adolescents, adults, couples, families and those facing a transition such as retirement. “I see a lot of adolescents and youth at risk, and I work with families as well. I also specialize in working with people in retirement transition – that can be a big time of change and big time of struggle,” says Marlin, who uses cognitive-behavioral, strength-based, and solution-focused techniques and approaches to help with grief, anger, conflict, relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. “My outcome is a life well lived – a life of vibrance, and a life where the person is feeling that they’re doing what they’re really meant to do.” 36 Sykes St., Meaford (Sykes Street Health Centre) 226-662-7777 ❧
