Welcome to Las Vegas!

Death Valley National Park

Death Valley National Park is a land of extremes. It is one of the hottest, driest, lowest places on the surface of the Earth and has summer temperatures averaging well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. At 282 feet below sea level, it is the driest place in North America with an average rainfall of only 1.96 inches a year. Enjoy hiking and camping here or go sightseeing by personal auto, 4-wheel drive, bicycle or mountain bike (established roadways only). Join a ranger November through April for an Interpretive Program such as a talk, walk, guided hike, or evening program. Or join a ranger for a costumed living history tour (fee) of the historic Death Valley Scotty’s Castle.

Hoover Dam

The Hoover Dam Visitor Center is a must-see! The new Discovery Tour is a self-paced tour providing live presentations at six different locations on the top of the dam. Operating hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Hoover Dam Visitor Center is open every day of the year except Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Note: Ticket sales for the Discovery Tour will begin at 9:00 am and end at 4:15 pm. The Visitor Center closes at 5:00 pm. We recommend visitors arrive by 3:00 pm. Admission and parking fees required.

The Valley of Fire and Lake Mead Loop Drive is an extremely beautiful drive. Drive time is two hours but plan a half a day, as you’ll want to stop many times to take pictures. We recommend going in the afternoon and picnicking on one of the side trips to the lake. You’ll end up returning just after dark giving you a spectacular view of the lit city. Lake Mead National Recreation Area borders the park and encompasses Lake Mead and Mojave. Many areas are available for camping, picnicking, swimming, fishing, and boating. Valley of Fire is Nevada’s oldest and largest state park. The name of the valley is derived from the red sandstone formations and the beauty of the Mojave Desert. Petrified wood and 3,000-year-old Indian petroglyphs are found throughout the park which has a full-scale Visitor Center with extensive displays. Open all year. Admission required.
