CAMPING 101

WE ARE A FOREST WITH WILD ANIMALS. We do not encourage feeding them from your hand because they cannot tell where the food ends and the hand begins. Also, we are not responsible for the poor sanitation decisions of the wildlife.

FOLLOW ALL POSTED SPEED LIMITS.

Kids, pets and adults don’t pay attention when they are having fun. Watch out for them because they are not watching out for you.

DO NOT PUT TRASH IN THE FIRE PITS OR LEAVE TRASH OUT OVERNIGHT. We have many critters looking for snacks and don’t mind making a mess.

KIDS CAN GET LOST. Take a picture of them at the beginning of each day to help our staff identify them by what they are wearing. Notify a staff member right away if your child is missing so we can assist you .

PARK IN DESIGNATED AREAS ONLY. We have enough roads, trails and sand in the park and would like to keep our grass growing.

HIGH WIND GUSTS HAPPEN

QUICKLY HERE. Put away awnings, portable food/shade tents or anything damageable by wind whenever you leave your campsite. Unfortunately wings are not required to fly unless you are a bird.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS. To help minimize the number of items lost, or carried off, please secure all items inside your dwelling before going to bed. Our raccoons are very fond of bright shiny objects and will debate ownership with you.

FIRES AND HEATERS ARE HOT.

Please remember hot surfaces can burn. Keep an eye on children and pets to make sure they do not get too close. If you have any questions or concerns about your campsite or cabin, please let us know right away so we have a chance to make your stay great!

CAMPING ETIQUETTE

• Be a good neighbor and refrain from playing loud music and /or using questionable language. We are a family friendly park with a lot of kids.

• While walking or riding a bike, please stay on the roads and paths. Guest sites are not designated roadways.

• Clean up after your pets and always keep them on a leash.

• Barking dogs are like an alarm clock you can’t turn off. Please do not leave them behind when you leave the park. Your neighbor’s nap schedule may depend on it.

• Avoid using, parking or placing anything in another guest’s site, even if there doesn’t appear to be anyone camping there.

• Please help us out and pick up your litter. Our guests appreciate the cleanliness of our campground. We’re proud of it.

SO MUCH TO SEE, SO MUCH TO DO!

We’re the perfect home base to explore the beauty of our Pacific Northwest region. The Astoria/ Warrenton/Seaside KOA has all the amenities and activities to make your stay memorable. You’ll never have to leave!

We are located on the northern tip of Oregon, one mile from the Pacific Ocean and just south of where the Columbia River meets the ocean. From the campground, you can leisurely explore the picturesque coastal towns of Astoria, Warrenton, and Seaside and many other places and activities.

• Fort Stevens State Park (across the street from our KOA)

• Fishing charters

• Horseback riding

• Clam digging

• Zip-lining

• Astoria column

• Whale watching

• Seafood festivals

• Fort Clatsop

• Hiking & biking trails

• Kite flying

• Lewis & Clark Expedition historical sites

• Surfing

• Art festivals

• Beachcombing

• Storm watching

• Sand castle building

• Shopping

• Local museums

• Kayaking

• Paragliding

• And much much more!

We’re just one mile from the beach off U.S. 101 in Warrenton! No better place to set up camp!

HISTORIC FORT CLATSOP

The reconstruction of Fort Clatsop stands on the site of the original fort built by the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1805. History comes alive here each summer when National Park Service rangers, dressed in period buckskins, recreate life in the past by making tallow candles, dressing elk skins, building furniture and performing many other activities.

CATCH A BIG ONE!

Astoria is one of the best fishing destinations in the world. Here you can experience deep-sea or river fishing with an experienced local guide and hook into a prized tuna, salmon or halibut.

Most fishing-charter skippers will sell one-day fishing licenses to customers. If you book a charter, you’ll want to bring a lunch, snacks and drinks. Don’t forget your camera, rain gear, sunscreen, motion sickness pills and a cooler to store your fish for the ride home.

A LOCAL TREASURE

Fort Stevens State Park is a 3,200-acre landmark in Warrenton. The original fort was built during the Civil War and there are still abandoned gun batteries to explore. During the summer, watch historical re-enactments and military maneuvers. The beautiful beaches are great for walking, running and daydreaming. Enjoy biking, boating and hiking in the area. It is open year round.

ON TOP OF THE WORLD

After climbing 164 steps to the top of the Astoria Column on Coxcomb Hill, you’ll have amazing views of the area. Built in 1926, the column is covered with 14 scenes depicting Pacific Northwest history. It is open from dawn to dusk every day.

HISTORY ALL around us

Our great family campground rests in an area rich in beauty and history. The communities of Astoria, Seaside and Warrenton reflect the heritage of this region along the coast of Oregon.

• Clatsop County had been inhabited for thousands of years by the native Clatsop Indians.

• In 1803, this area was purchased and became part of the U.S. Territory.

• The Lewis & Clark expedition spent part of winter 1805 near the mouth of the Columbia River.

THINKING GREEN AMID THE GREEN!

Astoria

KOA Work Kampers get to work in some of the most beautiful places in North America, including our KOA. Every year, we look for Work Kampers to fill positions for the season. Interested? Call or send us a note! 503-861-2606 | astoriakoa@racpack.com

Surrounded by the beautiful Oregon landscape and our green trees, bushes and grasses, we see green and think green every day. Our staff is dedicated to keeping our KOA as green and beautiful as it can be. We’re doing our part to keep the environment clean, and we know our campers will, too.

GUIDELINES FOR HAPPY CAMPING

1. Speed limit: Slow under 5 mph for safety and dust control. Be aware of children playing.

2. Quiet time: 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Please keep noise to a minimum. Continuous violators may be asked to leave immediately without refund.

3. Car/camper/boat/RV/Motorcycle: Washing/rinsing is prohibited. You must have a state-issued valid driver’s license to operate any motorized vehicle.

4. Children: We want your children to have fun, however, we require that you supervise them. Be responsible for their actions and safety and know where they are at all times.

5. Stay on Designated Roadways: We know how exciting it can be to reach the amenities, but please refrain from cutting through others sites. Cutting through a fellow camper’s site is very disruptive.

6. Restrooms/Showers: These facilities are for registered guests or paid visitors only. Help us keep restrooms/ showers clean by leaving them as you would like to find them.

7. Car Tags: All vehicles must be registered and a car tag hanging from the rear-view mirror with site number facing out. Vehicles without tags are subject to towing or park access denied.

8. Guests: Must register at office prior to entering the campground. $7.50 fee per guest. Guests may use the campground between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m.

9. Fires: Use designated fire pits only. Keep all fires below waist height. Do not leave unattended. Do not cut trees or shrub for firewood. Extinguish fires for the night or when leaving site.

10. Fireworks: Fireworks are prohibited.

11. Pets: Pets must be on a 6’ visible leash at all times, except at Kamp K9 pet park. Please clean up after your pet. Pets are not allowed in pool areas, bath houses, or stores (except for ADA service dogs). You are responsible for your pets at all times; please do not leave your pets unattended. Excessive barking or aggressive animals are not permitted and will be asked to leave at the discretion of management.

12. Trash: Place trash in tied plastic bags in front of your site between 9 a.m. and dusk for pickup.

13. Parking: One RV and auto per site. Overflow parking is available.

14. EV Charging: Our campground is not set up with Electric Vehicle (EV) charging capabilities. EVs require constant electricity flow to charge their batteries over several hours. Our campground electrical pedestals and plugins are not designed for this and plugging in your EV can cause permanent damage.

15. Smoking: Not allowed in any building, including cabins, cottages and lodges. Dispose of cigarette and cigar butts in a proper receptacle and not on the ground.
