TANKER JETTING OPERATIVE – JOB DESCRIPTION Your main role as a Tanker Jetting Operative is, along with your colleague, carry out the cleaning of drains, sewers and manholes, the clearing of blockages and other duties associated with HP water jetting. You will hold a HGV driving licence, and will be fully competent in driving and running a vehicle of this kind. The duties of you and your colleague must be undertaken in accordance with your contract of employment, the Health and Safety requirements of both the company and current legislation, and the staff handbook. You will be required to supervise the day to day running of the HGV unit and the organization of work. Below is a list of your main duties as a Tanker Jetting Operative:
Check what equipment, safety gear and supplies you need to check and load on to the rig each day. You are required to manage stock of jets, hoses, supplies etc.
You must complete daily vehicle checklists before driving the HGV vehicle each day.
Upon arrival to site you will be required to liaise with the site operative/client to establish the specific site requirements. You will work with regards to appropriate health & safety regulations, road signing, and setting up a safe site by using risk assessments/method statements (these documents should be readily available to anyone who may wish to look at them).
You will undertake the cleaning of drains, pipes and sewers to the client’s requirements, ensuring that all debris and waste is removed and that full flow is restored. All manholes and covers must be cleaned before/after the jetting process.
As part of a team, you may be required to undertake entries into man holes where necessary, to clear any debris, or to complete any other necessary works
Liaising with the clients on site, or by telephone and email when required.
You have overall responsibility for ensuring all equipment is packed up and the site is left clean, tidy and safe. All equipment must be checked and cleaned before stowing into the vehicle.
Maintenance and safe storage of jetting equipment so that it is kept operational and safe to use. You are required to keep all equipment, and all internal and external areas of the vehicle clean.
Reporting of any defects with the equipment or vehicle to the Operations Manager.
Anti-freezing the unit when weather conditions dictate.
Writing of accurate job tickets and maintaining paperwork for each project.
