OBA and Police host youth BBQ To tie in with the end of the school year, the Police and the OBA hosted a BBQ at the Community Centre to give kids the chance to meet the Police in a friendly setting. 50 plus kids enjoyed sausages provided by the OBA and served by Constable Don Allan, Sergeant Rhys Smith, and Constable Sarah Johnson. ―It was a really great opportunity for the kids to meet the Police and not feel scared and intimidated. It‘s also really good for me to have a chat to the kids — to get to know them and also find out what‘s going on,‖ says Satia Sami, Onehunga Town Centre‘s Guard.

Onehunga‘s very own ‗good sort‘ A special mention this week goes to Shane of Hair Mechanix, 279 Onehunga Mall. Shane is one of those great guys that likes to help others out around him and now he has become the ‗go to‗ person and friendly ear for other retailers in upper Onehunga Mall.

Final B2B for 2012 loads of fun Caprica, Tues 4 Dec 5.30– 7.30 pm

Even if you were not a fan of gaming entertainment, you would have been impressed by the set-up at last night‘s B2B at Caprica — NZ‘s largest internet gaming lounge. Almost seventy local business people come along to the B2B and had the chance to explore Caprica while mingling and making new connections. Caprica‘s Manager, Stephen Andrews, took us on a guided tour and as well as seeing the range of super cool playstation simulators, we got to see some of the amazing MiG jet simulators, before they open to the public.

This was our final B2B for 2012 but we will be holding another series of B2Bs in 2013.

―At first Alan wasn‘t quite sure he wanted to be in Onehunga — but now we‘re thrilled to be here. It‘s a ‗real‘ place, it‘s not superficial at all —we love it,‖ he says.

While you cannot miss Caprica on Church St with its 5.4 tonne MiG-21 fighter jet on top of its premises, many people said they had no idea all this was inside and found it quite surreal to see the jet simulators.

Whatever the issue, Shane listens to the concerns of other retailers and raises the issues with us. He also donated some great prizes for the Santa Parade. Together with his partner, Alan they have had a business in Onehunga for twenty years.

―The Onehunga Police do such a great job keeping an eye on the Community. Recently, I observed Sergeant Smith at work tracking down a guy who had a warrant for arrest — I was really impressed with the way he handled the situation — he didn‘t give up until he found him, ― she says.
