Street Collectors coming into businesses

021 426 603

A few charity collectors have been in Onehunga recently going from business to business. This can be an annoying interruption, as some members have reported. If you do not wish to talk to these people, just ask them to leave your premises. Legitimate charities generally ensure that their collectors have a badge at the very least, and often a uniform. They should respond quickly and politely to your request to leave. If you have any trouble with collectors, please call Satia Sami, our Security Guard for assistance. Legitimate charities would want to hear any complaints you may have about individual collectors. Please contact the OBA on 636 8535 if you have complaints and we will pass these on for you.

OBA’s newsletter, website and Facebook editor, Debbie Harkness, (that’s me) leaves 212a Onehunga Mall today after 15 months in beautiful downtown Onehunga. Coming from my previous job as manager of Parnell’s business association, I’ve really loved working at the OBA with town centre manager, Amanda Kinzett, eagle-eye security guard Satia and, more recently, Briar Millar on events. Onehunga has a great heart with its busy town centre, and a great feel to it with the community’s very active organisations all working together to make Onehunga a great place to live and work in. I’ve taken a job covering communications and marketing for Parnell Trust, which runs Parnell’s community centre. After my work here, I shall be very well equipped! It’s been wonderful spending time with you in Onehunga. All the very best. Debbie

Onehunga Heritage Festival 2012 this Saturday Come to Onehunga Saturday 29th September, 11am to 2pm

Saturday is going to be a great day to be in Onehunga with loads of activities for family fun happening from 11am to 2pm along Onehunga Mall, at the Onehunga Community Centre and at our

performance area at St Peter’s Church on the corner of Church Street and Onehunga Mall.

We hope you’ve been telling your friends, relatives and, of course, customers about the day and have been handing out loads of our Heritage Festival programmes! Our local festival is part of the wider Auckland Council-run Auckland Heritage Festival (29th September to 14th October), which has a growing following across the area and is heavily promoted in local media and through the website www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/heritagefestival.

There are still a few spaces left for the Heritage walks and Interactive Vintage Toy Demonstrations so call us quickly to book yourself or your kids in! All details in the Onehunga Heritage Festival programmes available at almost every shop in Onehunga!

The OBA would like to hear from any other local businesses that might have had similar looking damage to any windows. Clearly we want to help Police clear up this sort of crime, where a gun is suspected, very quickly.
