Thinking of buying a property on the coast? Then it really is plain sailing thanks to the amount of scenic seaside gems available in Kent. Eileen Leahy reveals where you’ll get most for your money and also how choosing a coastal retreat can boost your sense of well-being too…

I

f you spent your summer splashing about on a beach somewhere then chances are you may just have toyed with the idea of what it would be like to live so close to the sea and enjoy all the benefits it has to offer all year round. Well how about turning that day dream into a firm reality by considering a move to the coast? Kent is blessed with glorious stretches of coastline which boast everything from charming traditional destinations such as Sandwich and St Margaret’s Bay to the funkier alternatives of Whitstable and Margate. It

also has one of the country’s highest number of blue flag beaches which means they are environmentally sound, safe to bathe in and family friendly.

‘KENT IS BLESSED WITH GLORIOUS STRETCHES OF COASTLINE’ So if you’re considering the idea of getting closer to the ocean then remember that if your budget is limited it makes sense not to

aim for the more well-known places as you’ll pay a premium due to their touristic currency. Instead why not look to the smaller enclaves dotted along the coastline which runs approximately from Rainham in the north of the county down to Lydd in the south. There are plenty of places to visit and check out to see if they suit your requirements and thanks to excellent rail links throughout Kent you can be sitting in a deck chair or enjoying an ice cream along a promenade in no time.
