en cuestiones no relacionadas con una forma de hacer, sino con formas de mirar. Profundizar en la esencialidad de las cosas, leer entre capas de tiempo o cuestionar aquello que hay en el lugar, son prácticas que he ido aprendiendo, fijándome en sensibilidades que no sólo son de la arquitectura, pero están en ella. I have been interested above all in those who helped me to discover architecture in issues not related to a way of doing things but of seeing things. To delve into the essential nature of things, to read between layers of time or to question what is in a place are practices that I have learned over time, observing sensibilities that do not just pertain to architecture but are in it.
¿Por qué decides dedicarte a esta profesión? Why did you decide to devote yourself to this profession? La arquitectura me interesa por su doble vertiente: la creativa, que permite inventar y visualizar nuevos espacios; pero también por su relación directa con el uso y todo lo que envuelve a la persona en su habitar. Me atrae ver cómo el trabajo con las cosas cotidianas: la ventana, lo que se ve, la calidez del suelo, el movimiento o el simple reflejo de la luz en una pared, afectan al bienestar. I am interested in architecture’s double facet: the creative one that allows us to invent and visualise new spaces; but also its direct relationship with use and everything that envelops people in their habitat. I am attracted by how wellbeing is affected by working with everyday things: a window, what you can see, the warmth of the floor, movement or a simple light reflection on a wall.
¿Crees que la visibilidad profesional de la mujer está suficientemente reconocida? Do you believe that women’s professional visibility is sufficiently recognised? La mujer arrastra todavía una inercia grande de falta de presencia en el mundo profesional que cuesta superar. Hoy en día es indiscutible el papel de la mujer en la arquitectura, somos ya muchas haciéndola. De todas formas, nuestro reconocimiento debe venir por el valor de esas obras. Women are still dragged down by a lack of presence in the professional world that is hard to overcome. Today the role of women in architecture is indisputable, there are many of us now practicing it. In any event, our recognition needs to come from the value of those works.
