The Circuit Writer

Thursday March 20th, 4:01am

As I am writing this, the temperature is at or below zero and the snow is flying, and it is hard to think of spring. I am yearning for spring not that this winter has been terribly hard until recently. It is human nature that before winter starts, we think of all the good things about that time of year maybe it's sledding playing in the snow or for most of us I believe it is Christmas that we look forward to the most.

When looking forward to Christmas we seem to forget the subzero temperatures, the snow that inhibits our travel and the shortness of the daylight hours. It seems that it is only after Christmas that we think of winter as something bad, something to be endured. This applies to many aspects of our lives.

When starting a new job, we often focus on the positives and overlook the negatives. This is true for most of us regardless of our chosen profession. We start something new with high hopes, and great expectations. Until reality comes along, and you realize that there is more to it and that most jobs aren’t all fun and games.

When considering whether I should become a pastor, I did the same thing that most of us tend to do highlight the positives and downplay the negatives. Believe me, whatever you do in life there are always positives and negatives. The question is what are you going to do when the negatives start piling up, not only in your work life but in your personal life? Pray!

I know what this day and age it may seem a little old fashioned or out of step and you may even think it unnecessary or even useless to pray. I am proof that prayer works.

Why is it that when we face discomfort or doubt, we often shrug our shoulders and say, ‘I give up’ or ‘I can't do this!’ Or any one of the many things that we tell ourselves when we find ourselves in a bad situation.

I know that these days it seems a little old fashioned and out of step or you may even think it unnecessary or even useless to turn to God and pray in your time of trouble. Even worse, if you do pray it could become a habit!

I PRAY that is does.

Remember, with God all things are possible... yes it has been a long winter ending with a stretch sub-zero weather. Remember it won’t always be like this no matter what comes our way or what life throughs at you. Be secure in the knowledge that the Father and his Son are always there for you, no matter what, and remember that the proof of that is that Spring starts Thursday March 20th at 4:01am.

*If any birthdays, anniversaries, or prayer requests are missing, please notify Connie King. Make your prayer requests known...We are happy to pray for you or someone you love.
