ciate Professor of Music (conducting) at the Crane School of Music, State University of New York at Potsdam. Dr. Daniel Shanahan joins the faculty as Assistant Professor of Theory. Shanahan served most recently at Louisiana State University. Dr. Emily Patronik joins the staff as academic advisor. An alumna of Ohio State, Patronik previously served as Education and Operations Coordinator for ProMusica Chamber Orchestra and as bassoon instructor at Ohio Wesleyan and Heidelberg Universities. She continues her work as a freelance bassoonist as instructor of bassoon at Denison University. The School of Music congratulates Associate Professor Kristina MacMullen, choirs, and Professor Caroline Hong on their recent promotions. And, gratefully acknowledges the many contributions of Professor Emeritus David Tovey, music education and Professor Emeritus Paul Robinson, double bass and wish them both a happy retirement. UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO Dr. Andrew “Tiger” Rhodes, Assistant Director of Bands and Director of the UT Athletic Bands, again

hosted a regional Bands of America Championship. The Rocket Marching Band will repeat as an exhibition ensemble at this year’s BOA Grand Nationals in November. Assistant Professor and Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Bradley Pierson, hosted another successful UT Honors Choir with guest composer Ola Gjeilo. New Assistant Professor of Orchestral Studies, Dr. Matthew Forte, completed another successful season on the conducting staff of the Aspen Music Festival. Dr. Lee Heritage, Associate Professor of Theory and Composition, composed two new works premiered by the UT Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Director of Bands, Dr. Jason Stumbo. One of those works, “February Twilight,” has been selected for publication by Imagine Music Publishing. Dr. Denise Ritter-Bernardini, Associate Professor of Voice and Opera, was one of 26 faculty members from across the UT campus who were recognized for outstanding contributions in scholarly or creative activity over the past three years. Dr. Pamela Stover continues an active schedule of publication/presentation, recently presenting teaching and research papers at the International Society for
