Make your plans now to join us at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland, (HCCC), and Downtown Cleveland Marriott and Hilton hotels. Need help convincing your administrator to provide release time? Download the updated “Letter to Administrators” which presents the conference through the lens of the “standards for the teaching profession” .
NEW for 2025: Extended Thursday AM schedule. Newly remodeled space in the HCCC Atrium including the ballroom. “Cameo” concerts featuring a variety of ensembles in a casual setting in the Atrium lobby and convention center ballroom pre-function stage. Open house hours with the OMEA trustees and the Adjudicated Events committee.
The HCCC will house “General Music World”, (Atrium). General Music attendees should also make plans to participate in the “Jump Start” sessions on Thursday morning, and the Ohio Orff Chapter’s “Dance the Night Away” on Thursday evening. The HCCC will also host a variety of sessions and performances including special guests “The Cleveland Orchestra Chorus”, and our outstanding Trade Show. The HCCC will also host the AllState Children’s Choir, All-State Choir, All-State Orchestra, and All-State Band.
The Marriott, (conference headquarters), is located just opposite the convention center entrance. The Marriott will host jazz performances including the All-State Jazz Ensemble and the ever-popular “Stanton’s Reading Session” and “JECO Jam Session”.
The Hilton Hotel is connected to the center. The research forum and most choir performances will be held in the Hilton.
The exhibit hall in the HCCC will offer the latest and greatest tools and merchandise from our partners in the music industry. The 30-minute transition time between events has allowed for improved networking and plenty of time to visit with the vendors.

OHIO MUSIC EDUCATION ASSOCIATION
Dear School Administrator:
The Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) is one of the largest state affiliates of NAfME, the National Association for Music Education. Celebrating its 93rd anniversary in 2025, OMEA serves Ohio’s 1.8 million students in schools and universities across the state. Our membership includes active music teachers, collegiate members, and retired music teachers.
The 2025 OMEA Professional Development Conference (PDC) will be held in Cleveland, from February 6-8, at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland and nearby hotel properties. The OMEA PDC is the third largest music conference in the United States with sessions presented by nationally recognized master teachers demonstrating research-based, best practices in the field of music education and technology. In addition, over 30 performing ensembles will present concerts showcasing the talents of Ohio’s music students.
Included in the registration fee is access to the largest music trade show east of the Mississippi. Displays and virtual demonstrations by exhibitors from across the United States allow teachers to see new products available in the music industry.
With a few additional steps, teachers may use their conference experience to earn contact hour certificates, (nominal additional registration expense), and graduate level continuing education credit, (additional expense), for their licensure requirements.
Please visit the conference menu on our website to see updates and details regarding the conference. To access the complete conference schedule, please follow our event through the “guidebook” e-program app, (available in late fall).
Providing the opportunity for your music staff to attend this conference will have a direct and meaningful impact on the students in your district. If you or another administrator would like to attend the conference to experience this opportunity first-hand, please contact my office at executive_director@omea-ohio.org. I would be happy to provide you with a pass for any single day of the conference and answer any questions regarding how OMEA can assist your music staff.
On the attached page are some metrics from a typical conference, viewed through the lens of the Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession.
Best wishes,
Jay Wardeska Executive Director Ohio Music Education Association
